Yes it got hot, but 80 degrees is fine.
The device only gets too unbearable for me if I fast charge and play at 30 watts at the same time.
Thankfully that period isn't too significant.
my ally has pretty much lived at 95c in 30w its whole life and i have massive 6 hour gaming sessions regularly. its never been an issue. if you feel that it is a big issue for u just turn off cpu boost or make a manual fan curve to match the old curve.
@@nazoX7paradox If you are constantly at 95 please repaste the Apu. that is not normal.
80 degrees is fine for these chips, I run mine at 80 all the time and never had an issue. AMD's real red zone is 105 degrees and it can't hit that temp, it'll throttle at 95 degrees.
Always remember to keep CPU boost off to prevent thermal throttle.
I noticed that my ally has getting to the point where it gets too hot for the charger now and cuts off charging from time to time. This didn’t happen prior to the bios update for me, I also noticed some screen tearing on most of my games and trying to see what I can do to rectify said issues

I was averaging around 70-75 before the update. Now I'm getting a constant 80.. often creeping to mid 80s then dropping back down.
I’ve never played RE3 remake. I’ve heard negative things about it, but I still plan to play it soon.

I have an aggressive custom fan curve. At 60 degrees both 1 and 2 run at 100% keeping my temp at below 70 degrees. The problem with this Bios update is that they want to degrees the noise from the fans. But the result is of course an higher temperature due to less motions from them. And I deactivated the boost modes I rather play with lower graphics than to have it run at 90 degrees through out the game sessions.
I took my son to an indoor tube thing to play today. I fired up No Rest for the Wicked brick powered turbo. It immediately climbed to 95 but after about 5 minutes it lowered to 80 and hung there for the hour we were there.

I haven't noticed i always use manual with my own curves so it's always cool. Hope I'm not messing my fans though😅

No, this is the way. The only damage you'll do is drain the battery faster. I'm most likely going back to custom profiles with this update.
I suspect Asus put the fan curves back to their original quieter state after realizing that ramping them up last year didn't help with the Micro SD problem.
Given the recent article about their shady returns practices maybe they are trying to force more allys back for repair :)
I noticed this yesterday, mine started to get hot for the first time since buying it several months ago... I thought I'd managed to screw something up after dropping it (yikes)

If they were to purposely make it hotter for the older ally I can imagine the recall or big issues they will face
Playing on custom 25 watts never hit more than 80° , for me playing on 30 watt isn't Worth it, hotter and only 5 to 10 fps difference doesn't help much. So in my case the newest bios doing just fine 👍
ROLL BACK THE BIOS. I was having problem with charger stopping and I did roll back and that fixed the problem. Even with custom fan curve the fans are not fast enough as in the old bios. Now my temps never go above 90°C even in 30w and charging. On the new bios I was getting 95°C with the fans at max.
PS: I live in Brazil, a very hot country.
More than that, it stops charging at +95°C and only goes back to a charging state when it drops below 65°C. This bios doesnt make any sense.
To thoses that don't have a dock or a flashdrive, search about downgrading with asus winflash. You have to run a cmd code to enable winflash to downgrade as well.
Can I know which bios did u downgrade it to? Im having the same problem with the charger

Also who had problems with RogAlly stops charging when gets hot after updating to 338? I thought console got broken, but then went down to 322 and all problems are gone, its quite and stable now.
how do you downgrade the bios‽ I have the same issue
nothing much has happened, did move up the fan curves just to be sure, not getting these high temperatures. Maybe will try some heave calculation software to see where that ends
For me it runs way better than before and thr game doesnt matter its never going above 70° 😅 while beeing a bit quiter than before the bios update

Depend on your ambient temp. With 34c in my place ally run 5c hotter after update and reach 90c 25w mode. So dont misleading people here. It was fine when im using at 15c ambient temp

@@RogAllyTester isnt weird. Its physics lower fan speed = getting hotter. Now im using manual mode for 18/25w. Never use default 25/30w mode anymore

Hey Oz, I don’t use Switch Controller so I haven’t encountered this - perhaps try disconnecting/removing it from Ally then readding to reset it perhaps? Any viewers help? Let us know if you find a fix!
To the Elitists out there i should not have to make a custom tdp for games that run perfect at 15 watts,i SHOULD NOT have to make a custom TDP for 30watt turbo for games that run perfect,all to make the fans quieter..they already are!

Ok I tried it and my AC rouge was at 95 at a point but I had everything on max once I controlled everything and stabilized the game and resolution it dropped to 56~65 degrees
Clickbaity titles and miss-information is terrible for the community.
The temps not only are perfectly reasonable they were the original fan curves when the device first launched. I've been waiting for months for Asus to finally realize that the microSD card issue isn't heat induced and give us back our original fan curves and now that they have people immediately just to "OMG ASUS IS DESTROYING OUR DEVICE'S"
If you want a cooler device they have fan control in AC blast the fans so she runs at 70c it won't make any noticeable difference in the longevity or performance of the device and just makes it sound like a gaming laptops jet engines.

I don't know what he is talking about this BIOS update has made the way I use mine all but useless. Thank you for highlighting this information. Hopefully it will get fixed. My Rog Ally goes to 95 and won't charge every time I use it 10 min after updating.
Didn't have a problem with loud fans what so ever. At least I could play my game.
My rog ally has been fixed once I got money to pay them to fix it again

Anybody hear of a coming update to fix this. If i can not play the game, i want the way was i want over the last year kinda don't want the Rog Ally anymore. It is something i used daily, so I'm pretty bummed.
After 5 min of playing BF 2042 it stops charging. Been trying to lower setting and it still not enough. For a about 6 months been playing med to high setting at 1080 with fps at 47 to 57 with average of about 52. Temp around 88. Now 5 min in or less its at 95 degrees and am lucky if get another few min before the charger stops. wattsage drops from 30 to 25 and perfromance dips and battery drains about 5 percent per minute. Even droping settings and res down to 720 it still ends up running to hot. This is went from being amaing to borderline useless.
I was playing pallworld the other day
My screen got so hot it messed up my touchsceeen and that messed up my gameplay
With lords of the fallen it crashed my whole gamesession by getting to hot..

Cant recommend 338 i downgraded back to 337 games feel smoother especially elden ring and temps much better also i liked the old fan profiles. Ally was quiet already.

set a manual mode while plugged in for the fans to hit 100% at 80C this is what fixed it for me.

Just upgrade to a bigger ssd with the adapter bro. Im running 8tb gen4 drive. I have mine extremely modded with a copper plate so heat is never an issue 👌

SD card stops working because of a faulty fuse. It seems Asus figured it out since the fans are set to normal now. You can replace the fuse yourself if you are good with a soldering iron. Or send it to Asus.
