  • I have 3 out of 33 styles-- I utilise the Bordeaux, Burgundy and white wine glass. Great construction and lyrical design. Very happy with use, cleaning, upkeep and general durability. Very pleased with long term performance of this wine glass.

    Hi Michael!
Thank you very much for your kind words.
Yes, it is the PURE Sauvignon Blanc glass.
I also have the Riesling but not pictured in this video.
It is slightly shorter than the Burgundy glass but it does look nearly equivalent.
    Thank you,
    James

    Hello Shagai,
Yes, it makes similar sounds to any other crystal glass. Great design--quite durable. My stems have lasted longer than any other glass!
    Thank you,
    James

My Reidel Vinum glasses are more refined in construction, but the SW’s perform just as well if not better. I feel like the SW’s give even better “nose”.

James, thanks for this fantastic video. I came across it years ago and have been enjoying my Schott glasses. As my palate develops, I'm appreciative of having these great glasses. :) Do you do bourbon/whiskey or other drinks?

    Hello James,
1st of all I would like to say thank you very much for that video. It is very helpful for me and could I ask you 1 question. Is that glass can make some sound just like this video.
Some people said, real crystal glasses make sound when touch the glass edge. Is that working on this Schott Zweisel glass?
I am looking for hearing from you soon,
    Thank you
    Best regard Shagai,

James, I'm trying to decide between the Cabernet glass and the Bordeaux glass. We have the Savignon Blanc white glasses. Any suggestions? My concern with the Bordeaux glass is that it may be too tall for easy storage. We usually drink medium to heavy bodied cabs, syrahs, malbecs, riojas etc. Thanks!

Hi Karen, the Bordeaux glasses are absolutely beautiful however if you have limited or height limitations I would not get them. I would get the Burgundy glasses! Hope this helps! Cheers, James

Thanks, James for the prompt response! I just bought the Burgundy ones but am not sure if I like them. I love the sharper lines of the Bordeaux. My local Sur La Table does not sell the Cabernet so I cannot compare them to the Bordeaux. They do sell a full-bodied white wine glass that has dimensions closer to the Cabernet so I may stop by the store again to check them out. Else, I'll probably just go with the Bordeaux. I was hoping to be able to compare the Bordeaux and Cabernet glasses side by side :)

    Hi James,
thank you very much for the review! I was looking for this glasses since I saw them in a restaurant in Nuernberg.
(And I have to admit, that I already bought the Burgundy ones after seeing this vid *nice*)
    One question though:
Do you know what's the name of the white-wine glass in this review?
Shott/Zwiesel has "Cabernet", "Sauvignon Blanc" and "Riesling".
It seams the glass is same in height as the "Burgundy" which would be the "Sauvignon Blanc".
    Greetings from Germany,
    Michael

Do you know the difference between the Pure and the Tour glasses? They look the same. I used to work in fine dining restaurants where we used the Pure glasses. I always loved them, so I bought a set of Tour glasses from Crate and Barrel since they appear to be the same...but they break ALL the time, to the point where I am almost afraid to use them! They have cut me up pretty badly. I wonder if there is a difference in materials. Perhaps the Pure glasses are made for restaurants? Just curious to see if you know! They both say that they are made with titanium, but there has to be a difference...

I thought they were the same glassware--it could be a material change out i.e. Schott Zwiesel uses their Tritan crystal a non-lead material of titanium oxide and zirconium oxide. Which I think accounts for their durability. It could be while Scott Zwiesel did not use Tritan on this stemware for Crate and Barrel. The pricing certainly commands the best material in my opinion. The Pure have been outstandingly durable--I have not tried the C&B version.

How does this brand compare to Zalto?

    • @jamesthewineguy
      @jamesthewineguy  7 років тому

I love Zalto--extraordinary glasses. I have some and only use them for a more special dinner or tasting. From my experience a bit delicate - more expensive - the Denk'Art line is truly a piece of functioning art. My Schott Zwiesel are a good value and have held up over time. They are my everyday glasses. One of my other favourites is Holmegaard. But if I had to pick one wine glass it would be Zalto.
