acctualy that technology is super old. and is one of the basics in CGI.. all games u play use this... but yeah.. once again adobe discovered some new old shit.
I don't think we're thinking of the same thing. I was thinking more like the Meander program that Disney used for Paperman, which still is in early development.
Camilla Nilsson no diude.. this is not even close to what disney have done for paperman.. what disney have done is super awesome technology! what adobe showed is the oldest trick in CGI history.. used in all games.. etc. and that is.. simply... Reflection enviromap, type mirrorball. that is why they used 3D model.. and they fcked even more because it is not in realtime. but with some 5 sec refresh rate. i can setup for you exacly same configuration as they in less than 1H.. on any PC. and it will work even better :D
+ btw there are many rendering engines that render like it is drawn by hand. :) once i was bored in class and i have made shaders that make from 3D models, rendering like this. orig03.deviantart.net/af34/f/2016/315/6/1/fhd_by_dyskforproject-dao27jv.jpg
This is cool, what would be great though is if you could use the same tech to submit your own live art work on Photoshop from traditional (without the auto creature generation)
Adobe please make some Machine learning Neural Network based software to make Anime animations better when the deadline is very small. 2D animator are like working very hard to draw anime as seen in Dragon ball Super Goku SSJ3 vs Beerus fight.. I wish someday AI can make that Job easier because after watching this videos, i think AI can also help 2D animators.
Artúr Kovács well.. it is super old technic, to put spherical environment map on 3D object... and they don't even make it in real time but with buffor 5 sec. lel... it is how all games.. calculate reflections... it is in all 3D aplications.. and it is basics of basics of CGI..
Artúr Kovács but in 3D world what this guy made is called MATCAP and it is just quick way of getting concept look or check how the model look with some shadeing on it. or style
First of all thanks for elaborating! I haven't head about matcap, but I looked it up and its really cool and in fact seems very similar to what they presented. But if I am correct there are three differences: 1, matcap would not handle pencil strokes well, it would just project the drawing onto the model surfce. 2, background can not be edited using matcap. 3, shadows can not be edited using matcap. Is that right? I would agree that editing the background is not the selling point. However the other two might be a strong advantage against matcap for some artists.
Artúr Kovács it dosn't matter is it pencil or whatever it is.. texture is a texture.. Matcap can be aplayed to all stuff. including background. The shadows can be also generated from that. All games work like that :)
it was actually done by some poor programmers at Czech Technical University with "cooperation" with Adobe, even though these researchers are credited in the most hidden website imaginable :D
"Just learn to lay brick yourself it's way more rewarding" "Just walk 10 miles to work every day, it's way more rewarding" "Just send your friend a letter instead of a text message, it's way more rewarding" Yes, but for the average person, this is far more convenient and realistic
nemosirus A lot of people don't have the time, patience, or passion required to learn how to do the things they could do with this technology. This is for those people.
Sure they do. Take a bit of time everyday to practice something and you will be surprised what you accomplish in even just a year. I have two kids and still find a few moments to pursue hobbies.
ppl who have disliked don't understand the amazing tech and brains behind this...
no they are people who know they are soon to be out of work because of the tech
I've no words to describe what I've seen... 😲
That would save artists SO MUCH TIME illuminating scenes.
adobe has been really getting into machine learning
Oh My God!!! That's insane!!!! :-O
Holy crap I love living in the future! This is amazing!
Very exciting stuff, as a professional artist, I can't wait to see what future tools come out of this.
This could change animated movies! Imagine CGI animation made in a hand drawn style

The best think ever!
Talent will become a thing of the past! :D

Remember kids....this doesn't mean you're an artist, you still need to work at it.
Its amazing how donald sutherland made it too.
didnt c4d allow for this almost 7 years ago ...and wastn there a tech demo from the eth Zurich about 3 years ago ?? what is happening
Remains me first MTV ID's. #unforgottable
Oh my god - I'm gonna be out of a job before too long.
Only for windows? So sad, I want to try it.
Yes, kids CONSEQUENCES!
this is magic
Very cool.
He is a bona fide researcher all right... he starts every single sentence with "So,..."
so it's just capturing a mat cap from a hand drawing?
That's awsome
The guest had no idea, 2 years down the lane he would become an internet meme lol
What if you slap your hand on the paper
Hey Adobe I want this feature:) #Stylit
Wow!!
That black guy looks so much like a character from Key and Peele haha.. Oh it is Jordan Peele, never mind lol
What if you replaced the hand-shaded ball with a photograph of a ball? Will the dinosaur look like a photograph of a dinosaur?
Automated rotoscoping? Heck yeah.
Though it would be nice if it worked on AMD graphic cards.
isn't this how 3d model is supposed to work. why are ppl even surprised about this
Linghan Zhang That's not how rendering normally works, though.
Anyone know the song at 4:44
I don't get why this is so great
its ok I dont either.my 3 year old thought it was cool though.
you can make a stylized animation using 3d without spending so much time on single frames like you would if you did it hand done

plost twist.. that is how all games works.. so congratulations u discovered technology that is around 6-7 years on market :)
What do you mean exactly?
Artúr Kovács well.. it is super old technic, to put spherical environment map on 3D object... and they don't even make it in real time but with buffor 5 sec. lel... it is how all games.. calculate reflections... it is in all 3D aplications.. and it is basics of basics of CGI..

They squeak like teenagers on rock concert. Adobe - you try to be next Apple? Maybe look what's happening to Apple right now and change direction?
Just $1000 because of supply and demand. Get it today!
Some poor programmers at adobe did this on their free time and adobe prob stole it lmao
it was actually done by some poor programmers at Czech Technical University with "cooperation" with Adobe, even though these researchers are credited in the most hidden website imaginable :D
VahishtHimself rip
fastest way to become Picasso
Just learn to paint and draw it's way more rewarding.
"Just learn to lay brick yourself it's way more rewarding"
"Just walk 10 miles to work every day, it's way more rewarding"
"Just send your friend a letter instead of a text message, it's way more rewarding"

Reality is what you make it. Do the hard things it's worth it.

..like everything above 2k10
Sure they do. Take a bit of time everyday to practice something and you will be surprised what you accomplish in even just a year. I have two kids and still find a few moments to pursue hobbies.
But that's ugly...
Maltouzier It's a research prototype.
Messiah anyone???
da fak jordan peele?
