- Here are 10 must-grow tulips that are great for flower borders. These tulip varieties also make great cut flowers!
Negrita Double
Black Hero
La Belle Epoque
Silver Parrot
Queen of Night
Amazing Parrot
Exotic Emperor
Apricot Delight
Finola
More tulips I've grown that are good in the garden and good for cutting -
White Parrot
White Emperor
Green Spirit - Great For Selling. Very strong neck.
Dordogne
Infinity - Blooms Early. Nice color.
Purple Flag - Comes back reliably.
Purple Dream
Mystic Van Eijk
Foxy Foxtrot
Black Parrot - This one was beautiful, but it bloomed very late and toppled in the rain.
Flaming Flag - GREAT for selling
Elegant Lady - Best in the garden. Tall. Blooms late. Okay as a cut flower.
Tulips that have given me trouble:
Antoinette
Yellow Pomponette
Charming Beauty
Blue Spectacle - petals are easily damaged by rain.
Averyon and Amazing Grace - Both bloomed late. They were short and had some issues with rain tolerance. Could have been user error.
Yes, I would love more videos like this for daffodils and alliums! If the same person comments on your video more than once, does it help the algorithm even more? I'll just ask questions as I go on your videos 😂
This video is so so awesome! I am going to be buying tulips for the first time to fill up my park strip next year and I've been trying to figure out what to plant that is in the shades I like, will perennialize well, looks good on a vase, and won't blow open too fast. You've saved me so much headache, money, and work. With all the research I've done on this, this video is really underrated.
Thank you so much!
Yellow pomponette doesn't have this problem in my high desert zone 5 garden in Northern Utah. It's actually one of my favorites even though it's not a color I typically go for. It was sent as the wrong bulb order and what a happy mistake!
So strange about Yellow Pomponette - it did GREAT for me here in SC last year - I ordered more for this year (as a flower farmere I pull out by the bulb!) - hoping they do as well!!
Beautiful tulips - thank you. Would you mind sharing what flowers you add to your bouquets?
I'm looking for tulips that will come back year after year in my garden borders here in UK, and you mentioned Negrita Double and Queen of Night so will try those. I've been planting Fosterianas and Viridifloras and have been pleased with how they return too. You mentioned a few others but I wasn't sure how well they come back? I do prefer earlier varieties which I can plant near later flowering perennials so that the dying tulip foliage gets hidden but would have a go at later varieties of they return and are really garden worthy. So could you give me a couple of pointers that meet that remit. PS. Your garden is beautiful, great to have a cut flower grower who has a lovely garden too.
Hi from Sweden! Any Darwin hybrid tulip is supposed to be likely to return and that is also my own experience. Same with Viridiflora tulips. And lily formed. This is what I’ve figured out so far and still learning. Good luck😍🇸🇪🌷
This amazing what do you recommend for me in Tampa Florida
You said Blushing Lady in the video but wrote Elegant Lady in the description...?
