In anticipation of my coming in the Fall, I'm reviewing this video. Wow. . .when you shot this, 7 months ago, you had less than 800 Subscribers! Now you have ~ 15K! Only 7 months later. I noticed today 2 more ppl, besides myself, have sold their homes and are headed that way. There may be others; that's just the ones I saw. Lovin' it!! 😊
This is a great informative video explaining every step required to get established in Thailand. Thanks so much for taking the time & effort to present this in such a clear, logical, sequential fashion. 😊
It's so nice of you to go out of your way and make a whole video that was requested by a subscriber. You are a real class act Cooper. You really stand out from EVERY other YouTouber. P.s. I'm bringing you and Brook a supply of your favorite coffee creamer ☕️
Thanks to all who contributed to the information contained in this video. It will be very helpful for getting all my ducks lined up in a row and easing my mind about possibly forgetting about something important. It will also make my transition to moving halfway around the world to a Kingdom that I have never set foot in. Can not thank you enough for creating this channel.
Don't want to step on your toes, but a few things to also consider in preparations would be 1. Travel ins. and Health ins. 2. Getting a Wise acct. 3. Vaccinations and immunizations. 4. Research meds you are currently taking for availability. I think you have covered these topics in previous videos, but thought they are worth mentioning here.
Some good info there. But With exchanging cash at the airport , the booths inside airport give terrible rates, just get enough for a taxi and a bit food for 1st night, but if u have enough time b4 getting taxi,go downstairs to the subway train, Super Rich exchange downthere has lot better rates. kasikorn bank also has 30k withdraw $$ I live in Jomtien too, be good to catch up oneday.
You are obviously American , tipping in Thailand is not required unless you want to . Remember you are not in America now . I'm from England where tipping is very rare indeed .
So if your going to buy a condo, can you do this without your passport? Because it’s at a visa agent. Or must you wait the 3 weeks until you get it back ? Cheers. Great vid
Thank you soo much for this valuable video. I was wondering if you can do another video regarding banking, credit cards, brokerage accounts, license, paying taxes, mail, 2 factor authentication cell service from the states, social security mail verifying you are still alive and jury duty summons. We are in the stages of planning to move there with our inlaws from Florida so we are concerned bc we dont want to burden our other family w getting our mail in CA. We have Charles Schwab now but we were told they would close our account if we moved out of the states permanently. Also, we reached out to Fidelity and Vanguard and were told we can trade when out of the states (which we plan on using our brokerage acct to transfer yearly for our budget to live there until social security age). We are hesitant keeping our FL license bc we get jury duty summons every 2 years which would be a pain when we move there. Did you keep your US license or ID? How do you handle jury duty? Also, do you still pay state taxes if we dont renew our license or ID? I know we still have to file for federal taxes. How do you handle the 2 factor text authentication for banking, credit card, brokerage acct, etc? Do we need to keep our cell from the states? Im so sorry for my long post w/all these questions. Im just getting nervous about selling our house, quitting my job as an RN and my husband a PT and uprooting our lives and dogs there and fail. Thank you soo much and we really appreciate all your videos. Warm regards- Joy (originally from PI) and Tim
Great video Cooper, loved all the info, I am heading out there around the 1st of March and need a place to stay,, and I like the condo idea . I have been watching you for a while now and would be very interested if you could set me up . Kind regards Jeffrey
Hi Cooper love your video's. One question you said once you arrive in Thailand look up a agent to get your retirement visa setup. Regarding the $800,000 B financial requirements, do you transfer the money to your Thailand bank account or just show proof you have it in your home bank. Thanks
Via Swift code from bank to bank. I did it with my bank online. Just make sure you tell them that you plan on retiring in Thailand and you plan on transferring money to yourself when you open a Thai bank account. 👍❤️👍
In regards to the TM30 I thought it was required to have a 6 month lease to apply for retirement visa, am I mistaken Coop ? Is the DL not done by Mr. Singh ? Great vlog Coop appreciate you and Darlen’s hard work 👍
Thanks Cooper for all the great advise. Another great video. will get second banking card. 2 is 1. 1 is none.First breakfast out will be Cheap Charlies. Was that Shaun from Vlogging a Dead Horse sitting out front? Is the TT Exchange better than Superrich in the basement of BKK airport?
Another quality video with invaluable information for newbies or people contemplating making the move to Thailand. Thanks Cooper, your channel does indeed go the extra mile for your subscribers, and that’s why it’s so successful and growing so fast.
Hellooo Coopers! Merry hoho... super 2024 to U and your family . 4 months and counting until Jomtien beach gig. My entire visit will last approximately 21 days, other than my US passport will I really need to get a Thailand Visa at the airport? Or can I bypass that and get a Thia visa if needed there in Pattaya? Thank you, Chris
Hi Cooper, as for clothes in Pattaya, do they have American men sizes? I'm here in the Philippines and their choice of foreign men sizes is terrible. I usually have to buy on Lazada or shopee. 😊
I’ve personally seen sizes up to 7XL here. Plus you have a very good Taylor here at the Pattaya night bizarre that will custom make any size you want. 👍❤️👍
I think it would be prudent to see how the 35 % Tax on Accessible Income Plays out before retiring in Thailand. Seriously , I would NOT underestimate this tax amendment in force on 01 jan 24. it could be a deal breaker for many expats and future expats. Coop, your YT income would be taxed as well as retirement funds you tap for living expenses.
Not going to happen Jim as I pay US taxes on both. Thailand may require proof which is no problem for me. But I don’t believe they would break the double tax treaty. 👍❤️👍
@@CoopersThaiAdventure Thailand will not break the treaty as such, but if you read the fine print, they will "coordinate" with your home country's tax, and get the diffence between your home country's tax and Thailand's 35%. it is called "accessible income" , you need to check it out.
Can I get a one month condo rental pretty quickly while traveling on a 'visa on arrival' (hoping to extend or another 30 days!), or do I have to hotel-hop until I get that longer term visa? As inexpensive as hotel rooms are in Thailand, those rooms would cost 2x or more vs a 30 day condo rental. The longer term goal is O or OA visa, but I know that is a multi-step process. It looks like you may have covered this at around 11:10 of this video. I am looking at Jomtien Beach, perhaps one of the View Talay condos if they are priced decently. Thanks for the videos and any help that you can be! Also, if you get an AIS sim card, what does that do to your current phone number?
@@CoopersThaiAdventure Be safe. It's a marathon not sprint. Good show. Consider a video on health insurance - emphasis on pre-existing conditions (e.g. heart stent, hipertension, etc ...) and what if any suitable options are on the table outdide of self coverage.

I recommend having a Charles Schwab checking account. Zero ATM fees
USAA is good too ❤️
@CoopersThaiAdventure has no international or exchange fees, but the main drawback is no cash deposit. It reimburses all fees
