Agreed. I was able to apply the techniques immediately and didn't look like I'd drawn on myself with crayon. I love his tutorials because his techniques leave you looking like a woman of substance rather than a UA-cam influencer, if you get what I mean. An Oxford graduate as opposed to a Kardashian fan.

Cool tutorial. I talked to my girlfriend and asked her what she would think of letting me do her makeup, and she seemed pretty open to the idea and Im assuming if I knew what I was doing. For being a guy I find it sort of fun to do this. I've always enjoyed doing things that require detail and I think this tutorial looks like a good start. Being a filmmaker it seems helpful to understand the way skin works in the environment and how it affects emotions and reacts to light. Thanks!

YES!!!!!!! 👏🏻 I totally agree! I have such a hard time with tutorials because my eyes are hooded. I have seriously considered having my eyes cosmetically done to get rid of the hood. But now just isn’t the time for that.

    • @Avarioth
      @Avarioth 5 років тому +3

@@TheSaltySiren I don't recommend it. My mother and grandmother both had that done and apart from looking like they'd been beaten half to death for several weeks, it only lasted for about a year, before the hood came back down and they both regretted having done it. I'm just gonna deal with it, personally, and try to learn to do a thin wing that doesn't look zig-zagged when my eyes are closed :( Lol.

A little under a year ago, I got into a car accident and had to have reconstructive surgery on the right side of my face. The scar is practically invisible now, but metal plate made it so one eye is hooded and the other isn't. I had never done hooded eye make up before and was sure I would end up doing it wrong and look like a clown. But with this tutorial, you have made me confident in my make up skills again and I can't thank you enough. You taught me how to feel confident in this beautiful art form again, thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤❤❤

Just so you guys know, this look is great if you have the naked basics palette! What I did was I used Venus as the shimmery color, naked 2 as the crease, WOS as the transition shade (between crease and brow bone) and then Faint as the outer lid (mixed in a bit with Crave if it's too light) and then Crave as the lower lid if you don't have a pencil.

The wet n' wild 8 pan palettes are really nice, excellent pigmentation, they blend wonderfully, nice color ranges and very cost effective - they cost under $5.00/each palette and you can buy them at Walmart. Try one set called comfort zone it's got some nice earthy colors, or try petal pusher. I was very reluctant to buy something so cheap but I tell you Wet n' Wild surprised the heck out of me with the excellent quality. Give them a try!

When I first stumbled upon this I wasn't sure what to think but WOW! You are clearly doing your soul's work! Thank you for the inspiration, and most of all, the professionalism. From the brush types to stroke technique, and you made it look easy. I have previously subscribed to a professional newscaster who vlogs on the side about makeup and lifestyle for fans... She is pretty good and I like a lot of her makeup looks but what you did was extremely efficient. I once saw somebody spend a whole 30 minutes on eyes alone and they weren't finished... You show here that it is possible to get a gorgeous look with an economy of product and time. Thanks for the insight. God bless you.

What an "eye opener!" I never knew that you are not supposed to blend eyeshadow with the same brushes you applied them with, & that instead, you should be using a separate brush that is completely clean. I was self taught, in the 90's, with eyeshadows that came with sponge tip applicators. As an artist, I gravitated towards brushes, but nobody ever taught me how to use them properly. Thank you!

No offense to the young girls posting their 'flawless make-up in 10mins' is all so false, they put FAR TOO MUCH product on for a start, don't properly explain what they are doing & the end result is always either hitting the club style or the drag queen look.

Awesome tutorial, especially appreciate the eyelash part because nobody ever shows when they put their lashes on, they always do it off camera but it's great to get tips on that because it is not easy to do as a beginner.

Would you use an eye primer and then a concealer on top before applying eye shadow or can you just use concealer with no primer?

Hi, Wayne! Thank you for creating all of your great videos!
    Three questions about hooded eyes:
    1. How far in should I put the crease color? I’ve heard all the way and about 1/2?
    2. Does the inner corner highlight go onto the lid and how much do you blend it?
    3. Could you create a video on a very simple natural looking eye with two colors and a tight liner only?
    Thank you!

stephany Lissette I have big Korean eyes that are slightly hooded with multiple creases. I have yet to see anyone with my eye shape. Or a makeup tutorial on it. Eyeliner is HARD. For me, I have to use eyeshadow as eyeliner or find the right pencil eyeliner. No liquid, gel or cream types. 😢 I have very beautiful eyes. I'm just relating that I know the struggle. It took me awhile to figure out what type of eye shape I even had. It's like a cross between hooded and almond eyes that slight fold back when I open them. They're very pretty. But just to experience makeup on them, the struggle is for sure very real. 😩 I like my eyes though. It's just hard to give them "oomph" sometimes. So I wear mascara.
