@@IrisAviation91 well and I did not waste time asking questions less than 2 minutes into the video! 🤣🤣🤣 were aviation nerds. Change my mind. 🤣✈️🤘🏼🙏🏼💥💥💥
I have vivid recollections of the war's initial day on DG, where my eyes stung amidst our vigorous efforts to launch all of our B52, KC135 and KC10. While aiding the crew in establishing secure communications, I distinctly recall the Lieutenant and Line Chief delivering an address emphasizing our proficiency in conducting operations safely. They assured us that we would efficiently refuel, load bombs, and repair the aircraft within a tight 90-minute timeframe without getting anyone killed. Throughout our time on DG, we experienced both triumphs and challenges.
1) The wing root modifications were made to all ALCM capable BUFFs as part of the (I believe) SALT 1 treaty. This was a request of the Rooskies who wanted to be able to identify them vs others in satellite photos. 2) I've watched a lone BUFF take off from Diego Garcia, and that was pretty cool, can't imagine a whole wing strike package!
At 6:35, I’m standing right next to the SP with his video camera at the end of the Jeddah runway as 4 (?) headed at the end of the shooting part to Wash DC to overfly the Desert Storm victory parade. In the full video, you see both of us flinch mightily as the BUFFs roar overhead and we get the full blast of eight water injected J57 engines going full bore. We were both pretty sure at that point that we may have just given ourselves permanent hearing damage. You just don’t realize how loud water injection is until you are right underneath it.
It isn’t even super close, which makes the power you felt a lot cooler, great to see personal stories of the footage, those J-57s must’ve been something else. Non-stop from Jeddah to Wash DC for a parade - what a show of force!
Okay I guess I have to suscribe. The desert storm air campaing deserves to be studied and with the B-52, there is something to be said about using a big ugly club in war.
always to the point, no bullshit, no drama, good research, solid channel.
Haha thanks man
Agreeance. Best comment ☝🏼
I flew one of the airfield attack missions on the first night. 4300th Provisional Bomb Wing off Diego Garcia.
Way freaking cool. Maximum cool points double thumbs up
I didn’t know about the tomahawk missions !!!
I may’ve made it slightly unclear there, they didn’t use the Tomahawk! They were ship/land based.

@@IrisAviation91 I should have watched the whole clip before hurling the questions! ADHD bad!

My dad was a crew chief on these during the gulf in Saudi. I have his 1708th provisional bomb squadron patch
Awesome work!!
Thank you!

I watched them go from Fairford on the first strike.
Oh nice, must’ve been a sight!
HOPE THAT NEXT EPISODE FOR FIGHTER PLANES ITS MUCH LIKELY 👍
THANK YOU, YOU MAY BE RIGHT!!
I saw a b52 for the first time today and it's amazing that it's soon 70 years old
The design is putting on some age, but soon there’ll be new engine upgrades! Maybe it’ll be in service for 100 years!
