This video is exactly how Chris guides you in discovering your voice with his course 'Discover your Voice' Sometimes it is the simple things that can make a world of difference. I just finished the "Discover your Voice" Exercises/Videos/Feedback that lives up to the course's title. Notice the course title doesn't have the word "Singing" in it, but it does do what the title says it will do -- providing you the tools to discover your voice. Chris' style of teaching is unique and what makes this path of discovery so eventful. Along this path you will see signs that say "noise" "Goofy" "Mickey Mouse" and "one or two line songs" that brings it all together. There will be a big billboard along this path with the words "Feeling" on it. I can't sum up the course in a few paragraphs, nor can you discover your full potential watching one video. Instead, you are given the necessary criteria to discover your voice, and it's potential over a series of videos, exercises, journaling, comment/feedback (the feedback Chris provided to my comments in itself makes the course worth every penny) while having fun discovering your unique voice. Even though I finished the course, it is always there for me to access if needed. It was truly a journey worth every penny-Thanks Chris.
I do, he's hands down the best vocal coach out there. He's going into detail and explains everything in a very easy way plus letting you hear and demonstrating which means that he's taking you through the whole process
Chris like what the heck. I didn't even know you had this register dude😱😱😱😱 That's crazy man. Really really love all this wisdom you share with us brother
Holy crap, you went full Mariah Carey there for a second. Amazing. Thanks for all you do to show us the possibilities of what we can achieve with our voices. 🍻
I have tried various methods and practiced for more than ten years, and this is the first time I have touched the door of whistle tone. And initial attempts have been successful. Thank you very much! !
Really interesting way to find it, I'm a "natural" whistler, so I did it since I was a kid, I remember I could sing together with Mariah all the time, when my voice changed due to puberty I thought I was going to lose it like most people said I would, but it the difference was that I needed to light up more my tone to reach the notes. I think my highest note ever was a A7, which was probably random since I was trying to sing a Eb7 lol.
I grew up listening to japanese metal, and because of Dir En Grey's vocalist, Kyo (who can exhale whistle scream), a lot of other band's vocalists started emulating this technique. I was very fond of Mejibray, and, at the time, it naturally came to me that it was an inhale sound, to the point that I was able to reproduce it easily. Imagine the shock when I discovered that it was (most of the time) a type of exhaled "scream". Kyo can still do it, along DEVILOOF's vocalist Keisuke, and many others too. It certainly is one of the things that I strive to learn.
I did the opposite haha. I started listening to Dir En Grey in high school when I saw them on the family values tour in 2006, and till this day they are my favorite band. I figured out how to do it exhale and I'm just now finding there is a way to do it on an inhale.
This technique BLEW MY MIND. I've always been able to do whistles in the traditional approach so I gave this a try expecting it not to work but was so surprised. I also struggle to hit my whistles when summer hits because of allergies and did not expect to be able to hit them using this technique but I did! Granted, I can go way higher using the traditional technique BUT GET THIS I tested my "traditional" whistles after doing a few "inhale whistles" and I was able to access my full range of "traditional" whistles!!!! So this is also a great warmup exercise for whistles. Thank you, love your videos!
Crazy Chris, these things you figure out with the human voice is insane. you have a very good ear and your making me listen harder to the vocalists I love and listening to how they get there sounds.
Hi Chris. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I used to think that whistle notes are impossible for me to do since I am a bass. Now, I can access as high as F#6 (sustained) and B6 (briefly). I have seen many other tutorials, but only yours works well. Love. Love. Love.
Wow! I used to play around with this as a kid but when I started taking lessons in high school, the teacher had no clue what I was talking about so I gave up trying to develop the inhale. Thank you for bringing this back full circle for me. This actually worked!!
This is the whistle tone tutorial that made the most sense in the 30+ I've watched and tried so far on this topic, inhale and exhale combined. It shows the bad noise we initially make (all i have at this point) and describes the process of progression from there with doable steps. If this is the quality of your teaching then I am buying Will & Elizabeth's course with you for sure. Much appreciated!❤
Funny thing is, I've been able to do whistle notes for a really long time. I'm a baritone, and I have not yet learned to use mixed voice to gain more range, so basically I can only utilize two different "extremes", if you will. It always catches people off guard.
OMG, I didn't expect this sound at all. I thought it's not possible for mature man. I laughed on this high note because I was highly impressed. I could pull this note when I was 6yo❤
This is eye opening and really really cool! I have never had a clue as to how to access this part of my voice, but within a few minutes you showed the way! This will be very useful for me! THANKS!
OMG it worked! 😮 This is amazing, Chris! Thank you so much for all the wisdom you pour out to the world for free! Whistle register just like you described never made sense to me, but now I tried following along and I just got to hear it for the first time and I was mesmerized. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Man I'm a professional vocalist and I've been teaching technique for years but the whistle voice was kind of a personal challenge. Your inhale technique just changed my life. I'm gonna practice till I get it really well. Thousand thanks 🙏❤️
I can totally relate to what you're saying. This is the same way that got me into whistle notes ... i was just fooling around inhaling notes and also trying to do vocal fries but in high notes , and suddenly i found my self hitting those crazy notes in the song "emotion" 😂😂😂 It's totally worth trying
Another great and inspiring video! If this is the first video you have seen from Chris- I will say he is the best musical instructor I have come across out there. His talent for explaining things in a concise, engaging, and relatable way is the key differentiator between him and everyone else. He doesn’t just tell you how he does something, but rather gives you tools to discover what you can do. I’ve been waiting on this one Chris! I’ve been trying (without success) to access whistle for years so I could pull of some Patton-esque vocal gymnastics. I haven’t started the video yet, but you’re responsible for helping me crack the code of singing high notes like Chris Cornell, so I have faith that this will be the video that helps me make the breakthrough! Thanks for all you do Chris, you’re seriously the best teacher on UA-cam!

I accidentally discovered how to do register And would try to remember the sensation. The way you’re describing it is very accurate and also that shrieking tea kettle sound is so satisfying.
Accidentally discovered my whistle register last night, it had to be in the 6th Octave somewhere, doubt I'll ever actually use it in the context of a song but it was fun, the human voice really is capable of some weird and wonderful things
I just passed out while watching this and kept hearing it in my dream 😆 In my dream I was at my mom’s trying to turn the volume down, so she wouldn’t hear the pterodactyl noises 😂 Then, I tried pausing it over and over and it wouldn’t work. Great tips tho lol
Chris, you’re so right on the money! My first whistles used to come from C6 to G#6 with vibratto, only by that reverse phonation in vocal fry was I able to control and navigate the pitch up to C8. After Covid, now I’ve inched up back to mid-range whistles. So glad I watched you.
Oh wow thank you, I've never heard anyone explain it in this way and i have a much better understanding of how to achieve it. Will definitely be practicing this technique, Thank You!!!!!!
These are the best tutorials hands down! This is the only time I've ever heard of someone going from death metal to mariah carey. I thought I was the only one. I could whistle on and off in highschool then I hit puberty at 28 and the cracks are annoying as hell but my range opened back up into whistles as well as more bottom end. Breath control and transitions between the registers will be the trickiest part
This is great, but it should be added, the ultimate goal is to do this on the exhale eventually, but as you say, your experimenting. Inhaling is a good way to help you develop it initially, and I like your going from outwards to inwards as a way of achieving this.
AMAZING is an understatement. As I watched this, Your take on it has done for me, in only five minutes, what i’ve spent a decade or so failing at even coming close to. Alas! the notes I, ME, just sorta made!! Were 🥳🥳lol. You’re technique n practice is priceless. Thank you for sharing!
I accidentally figured this out and you’re right. I can do it on command really well by now. I usually just hold one note and it’s never when singing just randomly but the compression is a lot of pressure that doing it long will fatigue my tonsil area a little so, funny I find your stuff I goof off with and you actually implement it to something useful. 😂
Hahaha... Crazy stuff! 😄 Just hit high A up there in the 5th octave on the first try. Otherwise I can barely get to E5 when I warm up nicely. This can be totally cool surprise to throw in somewhere unexpected and make everyone WTF!??? 🤪 Curious if I can make it on exhale. Another funny thing to practice and annoy neighbors.
AMAZING! To think that this song has been with me since I was a kid and now you've opened the door for me to practice it, thank you so much for sharing this
This has gotta be the craziest/best video ive seen from you! I didnt even know I could inhale my whistle notes. It came out so strong after a few times thank you for all your out of the box tutorials I appreciate you!!!
This is why I got enroll in one of his courses because Chris is really unique and what he does. Thanks to his classes I found my voice and before I took some vocal lesson and never went up to G note. After taking Chris’ courses I can reach a C5 natural voice no falsetto. I have a baritone voice.
I sort of already know how to do a whistle tone breathing outwards, I used this video to learn how to control it better the video did wonders even though your singing inwards.
What I did is I took a little girl-sounding scream and just tried messing around with it until I can sort of connect it to my chest voice. I used a tuner and it picked it up as a G#7. How I learned to do that is I would go on any ride with a drop and I would tense up and I would try to purposely scream while tense I dont know if this info helps but I'm leaving this info in the comments hoping that it'll help someone.
Reverse phonation helps me to obtain my whistle, first I can only hit to D6 when inhaled now my consistent range was F2 up to A#7 (exhaled), I also hit C8 4x while washing dishes haha, thankss!!!
I think this is a different thing from what most people think of when they hear whistle register, this seems like an inhale version of something Justin Bonitz of hungry lights and Tallah has demonstrated, although he uses exhale fry to achieve it. He went into it in his recent reaction to his old screaming tutorial from years ago.
I do my gutural sounds inhailing by the nose...blocking it...little air has to pass. I hear some singers saying it is not safe...but I've been doing it for years with no pain at all. Now you make me realise I can ckean it for wisttle tones. Chris you are a great teacher and inspiration! Cheers from Argentina.
Holy shite! It's a wonder and a surprise to find another human to have discovered this. I found it from playing harmonica. I did find that I can get way higher in pitch with inhale voice than regular. Thanks for this vid. I finally subscribed after a few, so overwhelmed with coaches. I dig your approach to singing. It's rare and precious in this dumb down society. Thank you for holding a music Craft channel open.
DUDE!!!! omg, you just gave me the piece I'd been missing. I was so close. I had just told someone that I thought it had something to do with the fact that I, (to this &^&%% day, I can NOT whistle blowing air out,) I'm going to work on this
One… That was fucking amazing! Props to you for figuring out how to do that and for being able to do that! that’s amazing especially as a man Two… What a great video on explaining how to do this I recently just learned that I can do whistle notes and simultaneously was reminded as well that I always been doing whistle notes since I was a kid or at least in my childhood years and then haven’t really since and I’ve tried throughout the years to Ariana Grande songs for like a minute and would give up cuz it seemed impossible and I couldn’t do it but like a month ago I was warming up and Idk how but it just happened out of nowhere and I’m just whipping them out ever sense haha but I click on this video and i went to go do my whistle note and I couldn’t do it I ended up figuring out why and what I was doing to block my range and your video helped me get my note back in five minutes lol so thank you because I want this whistle note thing as a “party trick” because I don’t know how to actually whistle so I’m gonna say I don’t know how to whistle but I can do this and then whip out one of those 😂 I actually just found your channel tonight and I’ve been binge watching it and this is why I love your videos so much even on things I think I know as a singer and may be able to do well. I think understanding it to a deeper level is going to help the longevity of these things I just so happen to be doing correctly or at least it sounds correctly but maybe it’s not being done in a healthy way and your videos teach that they’re informative and you break things down so people like me and probably just most people in general understand because it’s not just mimicking someone when they say do this and that but then i’m left with more questions than just one like… okay but I don’t know what that feels like or I don’t know what that even means like what is my body doing or how do I do it? That’s the point of my question is how do I sing like this 😅 and you actually explain it. You don’t just say “oh you sing higher by bringing the voice from your chest voice to your head voice and just make sure you use your diaphragm and you’ll get there!” or idk some dumb shit like that that I’ve always heard lol you’re fantastic! thank you for sharing very good tips and tricks that people probably don’t even explain behind a pay wall just watched your video of using the example of the part of stairway to Heaven ( awesome song and example btw) and making your voice groggy and then getting to that nasal placement (and yes i will no longer say that sounds nasally”) lol shout out to my dad because he’s the reason why I’m such a huge fan of classic rock, but I’ll be singing along to these songs and kind of try to mimic them and or sometimes I’ll try to sing in my voice, but I find it weird to sound like I’m singing the right note because they’re singing it in such a particular way and this video completely taught me how to do what they’re doing and so I followed what you were doing, and I started singing a certain note and sounded JUST like a certain part of one of my all-time favorite songs which is Under Pressure by Queen & David Bowie ugh so freaking good and in the song there’s a long drawn out “whhhyyyyyyyyyyy” and that was what the note i was doing sounded like so i did the whyyyyyyyyy and 🤣 holy cow I sounded just like him lol and so i put in my reminders to show this video to my dad because I’m gonna teach this man how to sing lol because you just gave me hope that my dad can be the rockstar he wants to be 😂 but seriously your advice on that video was insane. I probably should post this on that video, copying and pasting now lol
I've been doing exhale whistle tones since High School as like a party trick lol, but only recently started being more musical with it. I've done inhale screams in the past, but my exhale whistle tones sound much better and I've even started blending whistle tone notes into my screams haha
So glad you enjoyed! I've done MANY videos on mixed voice and even have several playlists dedicated to it and a full course too :) !! I hope you get a chance to check all of it out! Thanks for being here :)
For years i wanted to know what tires was called. I really thought i had damaged my voice when i discovered this many years ago. I only found this after failing to hit a c5 in head voice, i inhaled and got it back in 1990s.. Since then i thought i was wrong. But now I’ve tried again and hit F5, I’ll continue to develop this… thanks
This was amazing!! And with this and the last video, you have inadvertently made me realize one of the vocal techniques of one of my favorite metal vocalists, Kyo of the Japanese band Dir en Grey. He often uses this technique and I thought I'd never be able to imitate it, safely! Thank you so much again!
I FR!! ACTUALLY ABLE TO DO WHISLE NOTES WITH THIS VIDEO LIKE FR!! AND I JUST CANT STOP DOING IT LOL.. now my problem is doing whistle notes breathing out/ exhale haha
Chris, you sing a lot too, huh! Now that you discovered Gabriel Henrique, about Whistle sounds(which he almost always uses), there's his covers of this songs -"Emotions and I Want to know the Love is(Mariah)", which he also uses, there's -"Loving You(Minnie Riperton)"! Thanks for the tips coach. I accidentally discovered my Whistle register by accident yesterday first thing in the morning. At that time my highest note was an F#6. Today I sung a G6. I'm just trying build consistency. Regards.
This is super impressive, but as someone who comes from and is mostly interested in the world of extreme metal vocals, I wonder how to translate this to exhale screams. I can kind of figured out how to exhale “whistle scream” by using vocal harmonics (so maybe it’s more of a “tea kettle” or “hyper-squeal”, than true whistle tones), but I don’t know if that’s how most extreme vocalist approach it. For anyone interested the kinds of sounds that I’m talking about / vocalists I am able to roughly emulate with this approach, I’d highly recommend you check out the bands Forces, Beyond Deviation, and Nylist.
I started to imitate the sound of a FLUTE, I got a flute actually and when I lost my flute I started doing the sound by myself. The flute usually has very high notes, but it isn't whistle register, I just started to do the sound of a flute but with higher notes, that's how I got the whistle register my first time, but also I lost it even if I can "whistle" notes that aren't in my whistle register it just mean I'm not using my whistle register. I sound like a flute in my head voice and flasetto, but I'm not reaching the notes I want when first I could reach even an E7. i could sing the note and even talk with those notes, but for the real whistle I had to push the note and then play with the air and my vocal cords to make the notes "flow".
It took me a while to learn how to inhale whistle as a kid, and it will definitely take some work to learn this. What an insane technique! You’ve got it down pretty well already!
Holy crap, I have literally been doing those types of exhales my entire life, at least up to that shriek, always for fun, but I never even thought it could be used musically, much less to this extent!

Instead, you are given the necessary criteria to discover your voice, and it's potential over a series of videos, exercises, journaling, comment/feedback (the feedback Chris provided to my comments in itself makes the course worth every penny) while having fun discovering your unique voice. Is Chris inhaling or exhaling in the demonstration recording by the microphone?
Holy hell. This is utter insanity. I feel blessed by a higher power to have this ability unlocked.

😂😂 death metal to Mariah Carey - had me floored
This is great, but it should be added, the ultimate goal is to do this on the exhale eventually, but as you say, your experimenting. Inhaling is a good way to help you develop it initially, and I like your going from outwards to inwards as a way of achieving this.
AMAZING is an understatement. As I watched this, Your take on it has done for me, in only five minutes, what i’ve spent a decade or so failing at even coming close to. Alas! the notes I, ME, just sorta made!! Were 🥳🥳lol. You’re technique n practice is priceless. Thank you for sharing!
You're so welcome.. The key for me was relating it to inhale whistling for some reason, that's when it clicked!
Holy hell man. Incredible
Oh my, I've always done this by inhaling! I can't reach those notes yet, but I thought it was wrong doing it this way haha
This has got to be magic!
Holy shit Chris that whistle in the intro demonstration was amazing!!
The polyphonic notes he’s singing are sick!!
YOU ARE A GENIUS (a LITERAL vocal scientist)......THIS IS INCREDIBLE STUFF!!!!!
Hahaha... Crazy stuff! 😄
Just hit high A up there in the 5th octave on the first try. Otherwise I can barely get to E5 when I warm up nicely. This can be totally cool surprise to throw in somewhere unexpected and make everyone WTF!??? 🤪
Curious if I can make it on exhale. Another funny thing to practice and annoy neighbors.
AMAZING! To think that this song has been with me since I was a kid and now you've opened the door for me to practice it, thank you so much for sharing this
Tea is ready! 😁
This is so awesome to hear!
How I learned to do that is I would go on any ride with a drop and I would tense up and I would try to purposely scream while tense I dont know if this info helps but I'm leaving this info in the comments hoping that it'll help someone.
dude, I wasnt able to do it as good as u, yet but I totallt reached a whistle note!! amazing stratergy!!!!
Reverse phonation helps me to obtain my whistle, first I can only hit to D6 when inhaled now my consistent range was F2 up to A#7 (exhaled), I also hit C8 4x while washing dishes haha, thankss!!!
I use a tuner to see what notes I'm hitting
Oh I'm about to practice this religiously. Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!

58:00 here's him showing it off.
eye opening and exciting! thank you
I do my gutural sounds inhailing by the nose...blocking it...little air has to pass.
I hear some singers saying it is not safe...but I've been doing it for years with no pain at all.
Now you make me realise I can ckean it for wisttle tones. Chris you are a great teacher and inspiration! Cheers from Argentina.
Wow I've been looking this for so long, thank you so much for this video! I'm going to competition next time
Bruh 😂😂 first 20 seconds took me out I wasn’t expecting that mariah note
It's been about 4 months now since I subscribed to your channel and everyone around me is amazed at good I can really sing. Thanks to your lessons.
I haven't found any of those nice clean notes yet, but I've managed some nice inhale screams. Thanks Chris.
Nice!
Thank you so much -This is new information (exhale to reach the whistle register / tone)
Grit on the inhale...I love it! So do crows and ravens. I can imitate lots of their sounds with inhale grit.
You should really explore the world of Subharmonics if you haven't. They're really fun and kind of addicting
Man, you are like a magician that reveals the moves that make magic possible! You really blow my mind! Great videos
DUDE!!!! omg, you just gave me the piece I'd been missing. I was so close. I had just told someone that I thought it had something to do with the fact that I, (to this &^&%% day, I can NOT whistle blowing air out,) I'm going to work on this
One… That was fucking amazing! Props to you for figuring out how to do that and for being able to do that! that’s amazing especially as a man
Two… What a great video on explaining how to do this
I recently just learned that I can do whistle notes and simultaneously was reminded as well that I always been doing whistle notes since I was a kid or at least in my childhood years and then haven’t really since and I’ve tried throughout the years to Ariana Grande songs for like a minute and would give up cuz it seemed impossible and I couldn’t do it but like a month ago I was warming up and Idk how but it just happened out of nowhere and I’m just whipping them out ever sense haha
but I click on this video and i went to go do my whistle note
and I couldn’t do it
I ended up figuring out why and what I was doing to block my range and your video helped me get my note back in five minutes lol
so thank you because I want this whistle note thing as a “party trick” because I don’t know how to actually whistle so I’m gonna say I don’t know how to whistle but I can do this and then whip out one of those 😂
I actually just found your channel tonight and I’ve been binge watching it and this is why I love your videos so much even on things I think I know as a singer and may be able to do well. I think understanding it to a deeper level is going to help the longevity of these things I just so happen to be doing correctly or at least it sounds correctly but maybe it’s not being done in a healthy way and your videos teach that
they’re informative and you break things down so people like me and probably just most people in general understand because it’s not just mimicking someone when they say do this and that but then i’m left with more questions than just one like… okay but I don’t know what that feels like or I don’t know what that even means like what is my body doing or how do I do it? That’s the point of my question is how do I sing like this 😅
and you actually explain it. You don’t just say “oh you sing higher by bringing the voice from your chest voice to your head voice and just make sure you use your diaphragm and you’ll get there!” or idk some dumb shit like that that I’ve always heard lol
you’re fantastic! thank you for sharing very good tips and tricks that people probably don’t even explain behind a pay wall
just watched your video of using the example of the part of stairway to Heaven ( awesome song and example btw) and making your voice groggy and then getting to that nasal placement (and yes i will no longer say that sounds nasally”) lol
shout out to my dad because he’s the reason why I’m such a huge fan of classic rock,
but I’ll be singing along to these songs and kind of try to mimic them and or sometimes I’ll try to sing in my voice, but I find it weird to sound like I’m singing the right note because they’re singing it in such a particular way and this video completely taught me how to do what they’re doing and so I followed what you were doing, and I started singing a certain note and sounded JUST like a certain part of one of my all-time favorite songs which is Under Pressure by Queen & David Bowie
ugh so freaking good
and in the song there’s a long drawn out “whhhyyyyyyyyyyy” and that was what the note i was doing sounded like so i did the whyyyyyyyyy and 🤣 holy cow I sounded just like him lol and so i put in my reminders to show this video to my dad because I’m gonna teach this man how to sing lol because you just gave me hope that my dad can be the rockstar he wants to be 😂 but seriously your advice on that video was insane. I probably should post this on that video, copying and pasting now lol
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely beautiful to hear your voice in that girly sound!!!
I've been doing exhale whistle tones since High School as like a party trick lol, but only recently started being more musical with it. I've done inhale screams in the past, but my exhale whistle tones sound much better and I've even started blending whistle tone notes into my screams haha
This video is mind-blowing omg, I understand your tutorial, pls make video about mixed voice because that's one of my problem is singing
Daaaaam! that "emotions" whistle was incredible!
Hi Chris,
That is amazing !
I never thought of inhaling to sing.
Genius.
Going to have fun trying to get this.
Loving you’re stuff.
Thanks
Genius dude,il be using this as I'm a bon Jovi tribute band singer and many times I've needed notes like this . amazing
I FR!! ACTUALLY ABLE TO DO WHISLE NOTES WITH THIS VIDEO LIKE FR!! AND I JUST CANT STOP DOING IT LOL.. now my problem is doing whistle notes breathing out/ exhale haha
love how he just starts sounding like a kettle xD
Chris, it's awesome seeing your evolution, this is so amazing
Thank you for all you share with us 🙏
broooo you are you awesome. first video thats actually legit about this. especially for a male voice. love it.
Chris, you sing a lot too, huh!
Now that you discovered Gabriel Henrique,
about Whistle sounds(which he almost always uses),
there's his covers of this songs
-"Emotions and I Want to know the Love is(Mariah)",
which he also uses, there's
-"Loving You(Minnie Riperton)"!
It would be interesting to analyze him in these songs!
Thanks!
I have a sore throat right now, but I'm gonna try this later.
Mr. Liepe, have a beautiful day 🫡
Thanks for the tips coach. I accidentally discovered my Whistle register by accident yesterday first thing in the morning. At that time my highest note was an F#6. Today I sung a G6. I'm just trying build consistency.
Regards.
Gabriel Henrique makes some cute whistles in Lovin' You, by Minnie Riperton
Yes! UP!
You are genius, I finally could hit a clean C7 without strain, the key is try to do it with inhale and the exhale, supposedly anyone could do it
Wow!! So amazing!!! I'm definitely following your lead on the whistle tone. I'll be experimenting and practicing what you are showing.
Oh Hallelujah Chris, Oh Hallelujah
Ya, still working on it... It feels good now, and that's the first step!
Holy crap, I have literally been doing those types of exhales my entire life, at least up to that shriek, always for fun, but I never even thought it could be used musically, much less to this extent!
