Thanks Kirk... I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to be a Net Control on the SNARS Noon Net, as well the other Operators... A Special Thanks to Dave Metts K7UI and High Sierra Communications!!!! snars.org/repeaters/nets/
cool video, I bought a bunch of weather balloons back in the 80's for a balloon antenna and never put it up. You got me wanting to do it again. Thanks de KN4OK
I've been working on something similar. I have been building four hybrid 3.5sq neutral buoyancy airfoils with helium filled closed cells. These are bridled two x two stacked each quad lined paired to a riser bar with trim lines and coupled to a droque chute that weather vanes the array and suspends the sixteen foot hollow spreader bar that guides the top 83' horizontal span of wire that makes up the inverted delta loop between the dual full flying neutral buoyancy foil stacks. Initial scale testing if similar design proves very stable and a steerable rotation of almost 120 degrees to wind direction and minimal tack. I am already hoping to upscale again and double or triple for at least 1-1/5 wavelength on 160meters. Biggest hurdles have been the expense and efficient recovery of helium. Free airspace and minimal invasiveness from FAA restriction!
Thanks! Next time I plan to use 1 larger weather balloon that can be purchased from Amazon. It was up a few hours before the wind picked up. With no wind you could probably go all day!
👍Thanks for posting. Good you cleaned up the balloon trash. Liked the music 😂.
Kite balloons get pulled *up* in the wind rather than being pushed lower to the ground. It's the perfect hybrid.
Amazing video! I can see my house from there.

Very nice 👍👍

Very cool, been thinking about trying that ... How long did they last ? ?
