    *The government owes all African Americans the right to take these dna tests for FREE. It's the birth right of every African American and the government should give some type of grants to any African American who wants to know their true ancestral culture that they were robbed of. I am a Black foreigner, and I am very passionate about this.*

      There is no such thing as "African" American unless the mf actually came from africa. Black Americans r American, not African American. They sold u that name to make u feel separate from the country ur family helped build. Africa is not a country and its not ur home.
      Black ppl need to get over the bs. U cant heal a wound if u keep picking at it.

      Dah Bajanman ummm they were sweety. Africans traveled this earth since the beginning of time. That's why a lot of Native Americans DNA results come back as African origins. It's also no coincidence that Native American tribal wear is very similar to their brothers and sisters in Africa, even the food, customs, and lingo. The only reason we all differ in skin complexion and language is because of not living in Africa for so long. Artefacts and science are not incorrect in saying ALL life started in Africa.

      If you think about it since the double package Matri/Patriclan test covers both the mothers and father side of the family, people could even pool money for the tests with their family if people pitched in like 5 dollars each.
      I think they said if you want you can even get printed certificates with the names of your different family members on them so they have their own.

    All I have to say is, based on the comments I’m reading y’all need to go learn genetics basics 101 and understanding basic statistics like sample groups. They base the test off of living relatives in African and elsewhere (33,000 people sampled) and compare their dna to yours. Because these people are self identified Igbo, Fulani, etc... they say well if your where back on the continent living near your cousins, who identify as this, this is your ethnicity. It’s like comparing you dna to you daddy’s. Ppl up here talking about fake, science is the only thing that uses verified repeatable results that anyone can follow like a recipe. So if it’s repeatable how if it fake.

    • @skawelch
      @skawelch 6 років тому +9

      Just because it's science doesn't mean it's not a scam. They're claiming to be an ancestry company when all they're doing is comparing a (very very small) part of your genome to modern populations. Trends in modern populations don't reflect the reality of human history and migration. There's a lot of blonde people in sweden so does that mean everyone with blonde hair is of swedish descent? of course not, in fact blonde hair evolved more than once, there are people in the solomon islands who have blonde hair thanks to a unique genetic mutation. But I digress. That's a really obtuse example but you can follow the logic, yeah? Genetics is messy, there are very few genes that are exclusive to specific groups, just because something is common somewhere it doesn't mean that's where it came from originally and it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist elsewhere. And even if the company can pinpoint something that's still only... less than 1% of your dna. Which will be like one person in a sea of thousands. So one distant relative may've actually been from this area or this group but the whole rest of your family could be be from elsewhere. And these companies always downplay that shit. And then they specifically target the descendants of slaves because they know how desperate they are for information. It's exploitative and cruel.

      You're better off doing a proper family trace of your lineage rather than this scam. Contact Natlee Green at My Black Heritage and have her do your genealogy which looks at your actual family history. She did an interview with Lord Jamar and Rah Digga on their show (video is here on UA-cam) if you're interested in seeing her talk about her work and what she's about.

      Shaquoya Bundy You're welcome. The link to Natlee Green's video is here: ua-cam.com/video/o3WMhQ08cq8/v-deo.html
      What she does as a genealogist is to actually trace your family tree, which is distinct from this DNA/ancestry hustle that just claims to tell you where you broadly MIGHT HAVE come from. So she would tell you (for example), your grandparents were from here, your great grandparents came from this place and settled here, their parents before them migrated to the United States from XYZ... So it gives you more concrete and substantial information than just "Well.... you're probably maybe possibly 0.7% West African"

    • @Agnelum1
      @Agnelum1 6 років тому +3

      Shaquoya Bundy The other IMPORTANT thing that I want to point out is that with these scam companies taking your DNA, the fine print says that they now own that DNA once you give it to them. You've effectively *paid* to give them your DNA data and they can now do with it whatever they wish - they can sell it on, they can keep it in a DNA bank to experiment on etc. Who do you think will eventually get their hands on this? The government.
      Don't trust these folk.

When he mentioned if he was of Dominican descent, that's a nationality and their are different racial groups in the Dominican republic: white Hispanic, black Hispanic etc.. the slave trade brought whites, other native peoples and Africans to the island of Hispaniola. At that point the guest today, cleared it up by saying he needs to go to Africa to find the specific African peoples, he comes from. Of course the whole continent is not a race.

      Exactly. If you know you have a white maternal grandmother like in my case, you mtDNA will show European Ancestry. I wouldn’t even spend the money on that test type if you know especially if you’re a woman.
      There’s a video on YT of a sister who did the test and it came back with European Ancestry. In her case, she had a white female ancestor 4 of 5 generations back. However if she asked her mother, she could’ve saved herself 300.00-400.00 on the test.

    • @crucialtruthtv3189
      @crucialtruthtv3189 4 роки тому +1

      True. But you gotta test the unknown side. Again it's common sense if 4 generation of the women in your family have European descent. But Dr. Gina made it very clear. Nobody is 100% of ANYTHING. Meaning whether you tested your maternal or paternal side you still not going to be 100% African. Even doing the previous test that Charlemagne did that gave him percentages. That test does not specify location, tribe, and social groups. If you mother is European tracing her ancestry is not going to give you a tribe in Africa. You by default would have to trace your Paternal side( father dna) or someone in your family tree who is a cousin. For example my situation. My great grandmother is from Africa. She never told us what part or what tribe. But she always wore the tribal colors and symbols. My father is Jamaican. If I trace both my Y chromosomes and X chromosomes I will get some results connecting to africa. Now my tree is interesting cause my fathers dad told me that 5 generations back his great(5x) grandfather is British. So again I know my lineage is mixed up. But I want to know EXACT LOCATION. Then I would take the african ancestry test to get those answers

    That's really interesting to get the ethnic groups out of those tests. Mandinka is an ethnic group and not just a social group of griots (wordsmiths, musicians, historians, mediators). You have Mandinka blacksmiths, goldsmiths, tanners, spiritual guides etc. These are all social groups. I think she's mixing up ethnic groups and social groups. But that's okay, that's very confusing and it does take a while to grasp the background of West African societies. Fulani is also an ethnic group. Many of us can recognize one another just by looks. Within the Fulani ethnic group, you get griots, spiritual guides, weavers etc. Fulani people have a strong pastoral activity and are known for their cattles but they are not totally nomadic. They practice transhumance. The men go, literally, where the grass is greener to feed the cattle then come back as the Sahel region is as arid as Arizona and New Mexico. Again, those groups are ethnic groups, they look different, they speak their own language. Because we're cool, we can intermarry between ethnic groups. It's less true for social groups. Still today, it's more acceptable for a griot to marry a non-African person than to marry someone from his/her ethnic group who is not a griot. They are not allowed to mix with non-griots. A goldsmith is not allowed to marry someone from the spiritual guide group. I'm starting sounding like my mom now and I'm sure you're starting having a headache so I'll stop.

      It's so confusing and I'm still learning. I've done Admixture heritage and Oracle I believe. I use this website to help me it breaks it down so much.

      I think its free because GEDmatch might be getting paid to give peoples profiles to law enforcement. Search the story 'How a Tiny Website Became the Police's Go-To Genealogy' at theatlantic.com website. Some people might not mind but some might not like if the 2 guys running GEDmatch aren't telling people they're doing this.

    That's crazy that she can recognize Igbo people, I was working with lots of Nigerian migrants recently, lots of them were Igbo, and I could definitely tell too! I was wondering if I was just biased, but then we also met lots of people from other parts of Africa and the Igbo Nigerians just stood out. Something about their facial structure, their nose, their smile is distinct...!

      The easiest people I can identify in Africa are Somalians. Their heads (foreheads, hairline, eyes) and physic are very unique.

      That's pretty rude for people to bring a gift for one host and not the others.
