@@asianangler As far as the hull goes, better construction. The plastic on a roto-molded is all 1 piece and molecularly solid, lasting a very long time and has high abrasion resistance. The 2 piece designs are ABS plastic, cheaper, and are simply sheets layered to form the hull. As far as the drive, big upgrade with the bearings and GT tech. I had an outback and you can feel the difference in that kind of drive.
I have had my Passport 12 now for over a year or so. I have just purchased the Hobie Mirage Sail kit and Sail Furler system. I have seen the videos on the setting up for the Outback and such but there doesn’t seem to have any for the best way to install for the Passport 12. Can you advise me of any ? Shayne
what do you recommend if steering rod disconnects from handle? I've tried applying adhesive/electrical tape to no avail. Going in through the hatch to access is very difficult and even worse if you're trying to ensure a good connection is made
Just bought a Passport 12R...I am baffled that I can't tie down my H Crate because the pad eyes in the back cargo area are too small to get the tie downs into the pad eyes.🙃
Where is the serial number on the 12 Passport? It’s not at the back like my Outback. Looked all around the sides, underneath, and inside the boat. Can’t find it anywhere. I need it to register the boat on the Hobie website. Thanks.
Question: how does this kayak compare to e.g. the Compass 2021? Is it only the weight that is a pro? I notice that the seat of the Compass looks a bit higher quality. Just wondering what is the better choice although (here in NL) the Lynx probably costs a bit more... Thanks.
I just purchased a 2021 Outback today from a local dealer and noticed the Sticker on the cockpit of several Hobieie Models .. Outback : 1 person or 275 lbs Passport : 1 person or 275 lbs PA 14 : 1 person or 375 lb Pa 12 : 1 person or 375 lbs Is this a Coast Guard Regulation thing ?
Because it's an entry level kayak, look at their much more expensive kayaks for that option or buy the 180 pedals separately It's not rocket science lol
So glad you upgraded the hull to 1 piece and the drive.
how's that considered upgrade?

I just bought one. I'm excited.
Me too I haven't picked it up yet

Where is the registration number for the kayak?
Would you be able to trade in your 2020 classic drive for the 2021 mirage drive gt
I’m wondering that too.

What is the screw size for attaching the rudder? You can see it at 5:23. I bought a secondhand hobie, and it was missing these screws.
I believe its #14 3/4" Screw (part number: 8031890)
Why no reverse??

It's not rocket science lol
How much?
around 1700
It’s actually a right foot pedal. Not a “right hand pedal”. Just messing.
Good catch!
Quick start??? Pay $1700 for a piece of plastic and then you have to assemble it??
you sound like you never own a pedal kayak before uh lol
