I got to try this about a month ago and thought it was nice. Head to head I actually preferred the Knob 12 though, which luckily is about 1/3 the price.
Thank you for buying it and reviewing it for us! I love OGD at any proof - but especially the 114. For $200, I would want this to be more than 100 proof. But based on your review, and the reviews of others, the whiskey itself is not really the issue - just the price. I would be a buyer all day if it were closer (a lot closer) to $100.
Great review. I also really enjoy everything about this bottle but the price tag. Fortunately I able to get a back up bottle for 1/2 price on a black Friday sale. So using whiskey math I averaged out to $150 a bottle which is closer to what I thought it should be. You're also the only review I watched that pointed out the proof point might have been a good thing to bring the oakieness down a bit. Sometimes we just need to trust that master blenders and distillers know what they are doing.
@@JeepinNV thanks for watching. That’s what I thought about the proof. That’s makes sense to me after tasting it. I think if it was up there with higher proof it could have hit differently.
It was worth the price to me , one of my favorites of 2024 . Sure I wish it was less expensive but for a 16 year old product it could have been priced like Russell's 15 🤔🫣 Cheers 🥃
I was lucky enough to get one for $99 on Black Friday. Even at that price this bottle is a miss for me. It smells like I’m sniffing a sharpie, and I just can’t get past that. There was a strange note on the finish too that I can’t pinpoint, but I’m not a fan. It’s not a drain pour by any means, but it’s just not my profile
No it’s a 60 bottle at best. It’s not terrible but it certainly isn’t worth 200. In fact it isn’t even a 150-60 bottle. Just my opinion but I’d take the 114 over this everyday of the week.
Saw it as low as $164, but still passed after the reviews
I get it. Its still old grandad.

Knob creek is always great and always excellently priced.

I’m hoping it comes down in price and Jim beam see sense.

Maybe it's time for me to pick one up 🤔 thanks for the video!
If you have the budget I believe its worth a one time buy. Just know I'm an old grand dad fan in general
The fact I just saw it sitting on a shelf in a popular store for $150 should tell you everything you need to know
Hopefully it keeps tumbling sub $100. It is Old Grand-Dad after all.
Thanks for buying this so we don’t have to. That said it sounds like we now may have to hahahaha
Try it at a bar first.

@@thomasanderson2870 that’s true. Maybe just because it’s labeled old grandad and that’s synonymous with cheaper whiskey we have this opinion.
Think I'll stay with the OGD 114 for 25-30 $$. Really like the channel, cheers...
@@markdunn1931 yeah I don't hate that decision.
I appreciate you buying it so I don't have to. I really want to pick it up, but that price tag......
@@cashe3561 maybe it’ll be at a Costco for $150. Even then though it’s tough. It’s old grand dad for $200 lol

That sharpie note is something I’ve heard from others but I don’t get it, I’m just not on that train.
Sometimes master distillers and marketing departments feel incredibly out of touch with the community
The price on this bottle is exactly that.

I hope Jim beam are listening to the people!
