Ralfy thanks for all the guidance for us newcomers. Your channel has been a big help to point me towards whiskies to try, and at this point I’ve tried nearly all of your recommendations. I’m still in the early discovery phase of smoky peat so at the moment ardbeg and laphroaig are far and away my favorite, but I suspect eventually I’ll look for something different. Cheers
Thanks Ralfy, for all your integrity!! 👍🏻 I just picked up the Arran 10, the week after Christmas, on Amazon for £36 delivered 👌 Not opened it yet as I have a cold 🤧 Happy New Year!!! 🥳
Great channel . It's got me into whisky after watching for a few months , not drunk whisky since I was 16 when i threw up on Bells, years ago. Recently purchased a bottle of Port Charlotte and a xmas gift of Bruichladdich Classic . 👍
Arran 10y is the best value whisky I know of. I recommended it to a friend exploring whisky, mostly drinking Ardbeg and he couldn´t believe how good it was for the price. Gonna explore more of Arran range in the future for sure! Also wish you and the maltmates all the best in 2025 :)
So glad to be back again watching your videos and hear you still ranting about these issues Ralfy! I've more or less entirely pulled away from parts of the whisky community because of the current conditions, and I don't see myself buying much of anything for quite some years (and not because I've filled up a cellar either). I'll gladly raise my glass to you and everyone in here though! Slainte!

Hi Ralfy. Personally I’d be much happier if no coloring or other additives were used in whisky, malt or blends, as it is purely a disguise, hardly different from adding chemical flavorings. The best message to the industry is ‘ no coloring please’.
The problem is that Jwalker and the likes are terrified to show the average drinker how poor the casks are that they use. So if the remove the caramel, the average drinker will head over to JDaniel for their spirit and coke. That’s the fear within the corporate industry, so it won’t change.
Well Michael... That will be when there is 2 Tuesdays in a week and snow balls in hell..... Let's not be narcisists. The whiskytube crowd is a rather marginal albeit profitable part of the market. I'm more than happy if the if the industry will become more accommodating to our whishes regarding single malts.
On top of all of that, Heriot-Watt is collaborating with a university to develop a method to achieve the effects of chill filtration without having to chill (to save money on energy costs ). So, a graduate student is likely going to have a hand in further obscuring transparency, as distilleries can make claims to not chill filtering and still recreate the same effects.
Arran 10 has been a corner stone in my malt journey for the last 15 years. I have been tasting it since 2013 I believe. I just ordered a new bottle, because a distillery with that much integrity deserves my hard earned money. Also one of the few distilleries I visited travelling from Norway. A well deserved reward.
Ralfy, thanks ! Now that the American Single Malt has been officially ratified, I am looking forward to diving in and seeing what comes out. Would love to see some reviews from Westland, Balcones, etc.
Happy new year Ralfy all the best mate. Love your comments and agree with the remarks on James Eadie stuff I have been getting a few of their releases recently and all been great value for the money . 12 yr old Mannochmore 46% , 11yr old Teaninich 48.3%- both stunning stuff for under 50 pounds. Also the Thompson Bros loweries reserve blend is insane for a blend.
Happy New Year Ralfy and to all the Malt Mates!! I've still never owned a bottle of Arran, don't know why as I really like it. Tis going to be the year of smarter purchases me thinks. 🥃
Happy New Year Ralfy. I proudly introduce Arran 10 to my friends... and "educate" them (wit humility) about integrity malts and what to look for to start to really get into appreciating good scotch whisky ! Always with moderation of course. Looking forward to hearing your interesting opinions/stories in 2025. cheers!
I managed to grab one for £35 for New Years! Decent! Thanks Ralfy.. Happy New Year! (I imagine the price of the 10 year old just went through the roof after your declaration 😂)
Ralfy is amazing notes of this notes of that 😂😂😂all I know if Ralfy said it's good I'll buy it if he says it's shit im not buying it 😂😂😂 so far ralfy opinion has been spot on and it keeps me from wasting my money. Thanks for sharing brother 🤙
I recently bought this, and although I am usually a neat drinker, I followed your advice to add some water. And you are right! the taste really benefits from it.
I just realised the other day, it has been 25 years since I accidentally discovered the joy of quality malt whisky! (Thanks Bowmore and my local offy that was selling 12yo for cheap) Loving the Arran 10.. I have pledged to visit the island soon!
No surprises there, stellar whisky, quality is still there, prices are still acceptable, can't go wrong. Just recently stayed with some friends in the hostel down the road from Lochranza distillery, unfortunately the distillery visitor center was closed.
I completely agree with you on your assessment of this most recent Arran bottling, so 85 is perfect. The cat, however, gets a 90 for even more superior integrity! Sláinte 🥃
You may be the perfect person to ask this. I had an experience with a whiskey a couple years ago that to me was odd, but interesting. I had a bottle of 9 year Elijah Craig. It was nice but a bit too harsh. Adding water definitely improved it, but it still had a bit of a scotch character that I'm not too fond of. While I was out pheasant hunting with friends, I had a flask of it with my kit for after I was done. I live in North Dakota, so it was of course cold and windy, a bit too windy for anything to really rise, so we didn't see much for a good stretch. The amount of exercise is important I think, as I still had my heart rate up. I had already put away the shotgun and decided to take a draw from the flask. What surprised me was the immediate difference in the whiskey. It wasn't from the flask, as it was new and had been flushed and dried prior to filling. The whiskey was a bit more syrup in it's consistency and had a very strong orange marmalade flavor. It had often had a bit of citrus, but this was specific and much stronger. I wasn't alone in this experience either. Two of my friends I was out with were also whiskey drinkers and noted the same intense flavor of orange. Is this an effect cause by the increased heart rate with the exercise coupled with the cold temperatures, or perhaps something I'm missing?
Hi Ralfy. My first response on your channel. Watched a ton of your vids. I have a bottle of Arran 10 sitting in my stash to be opened at some point in the new bottling. Hopefully, on a good day and not a bad one. Although, I’ve been through one in the previous bottling version.
I've noticed a problem with poor corks recently! My Bunny 12 cork shrank so much it was loose.. surprised it didn't evaporate! The Arran cork isn't tight either!
Im glad you stopped the malt mention Its something I wanted to see go for a long time although it was cute at first! I actually sent in the very first one. 15 yr faithful subscriber! Keep up the best reviews in the business my friend!

i got this bottle Christmas 2023 from my father alongside a blended Campbeltown Loch. I opened with my father the Campbeltown Loch that Christmas. That time we planned to open the Arran 10 together during Christmas 2024. But in September 2024 my father passed away. I am now very sad and very happy at the same time when I see this unopened bottle in my shelf. I did not dare to open it, though... Wonder if I will ever do.
