As a father of a now adult guppy, I listened to your story and it made me smile. Way to go Dad! Sometimes the boys need to unplug from the electronics and get their hands dirty and maybe a little sweaty too. I love my video games too, but life is about balance and moderation. Thanks for the fun story.

Ageing disorder, very hush hush. Body ages but the humor sense stops maturing somewhere in the teens. Absolutely delightful as long as nobody tells Gadzee about it!

I have a 47 year old guppy. As a little guppy he was always out side with friends riding his bike and whatever else. As a big guppy he sits on his computer from the time he gets up until whenever he goes to bed. Yes, he has a big guppy job. I can't take his computer away but I could really use some out of doors help in the garden. My 13 year old grand guppy is constantly plugged in too. I get the computer at all the odd hours (there's 2 computers in the house, one shared amongst 3 people), like after they go to bed. That's hardly enough time to watch all the Gold Prospecting videos of the 4 people I follow, and the jewellery making videos that give me inspiration.

Had a very similar experience with my oldest guppy when he was 12.
He decided to volumize some select adult words towards me and his mother to which I replied by taking his PlayStation 3 outside and dumping an entire mag of incendiary 762 rounds into it at 20 yards, never had any bad words from him again and he never argued when we told him to turn the PlayStation 4 off after that.
It was an expensive lesson for both of us but the PS3 needed to go anyway ☺️ Country life is nice!

    • @markfryer9880

I guess that he figured out that PS3 taking a full 20 rounds of incendiary 7.62mm ammo, could just as easily have been his guppy carcase! 😂

I used to offer them for sale at the cash register at my local supermarket - they come complete with clothes and school uniforms! Never had any takers...
Now I enjoy embarrassing them but you learn to pick your times to do it.... like seeing them walking down the street with their newest boyfriend so I drive past with Midnight Oil playing really loud, windows down, toot the horn and wave with a big smile!
One BF got a bit mouthy so I told him how in my first job I worked in a lab where we did animal autopsies for zoos and research, but I had never had the chance to see a human one. I would then mention I still have all my knives and tools and ask if he wanted to be my test subject. I mean after doing an autopsy on a dead full grown elephant... gore is not a problem! I would then smile and watch them turn white. Some would ask my daughters later if I was joking and they would go "Nope... she stills has them and you should see how sharp some of them are!" Being a single mum isn't easy, especially when you are all of 5 foot 2 or 160 cm and you kid is dating someone almost a foot taller than you!

I have a love hate relationship with my kids and their tech. Some games I can see benefit in, sure. Sometimes we need to go in to zombie mode and disconnect from reality (like me now!). I do also know that our brain responds to it in different ways and gives us different hormones and does neurological things that we crave... so it can be a rabbit hole for sure.
There ain't no good/easy/bestest way to do this parenting thing other than doing our best and taking time to reflect on what we are doing... like your vid! Kicking ass daddyo, keep up the good work

My guppy is nearly 19, just about to finish school. He got himself a casual job at the local hotel, so paying for him to do The Responsible Serving of Alcohol course last year at the school I work at has paid off. The funny thing is that no sooner had he started and got his first pay, then he was asking me if he should ask for more shifts so he could earn more money! 😂😂😂
I advised caution, to get used to school and work and by then Christmas will be coming up and they will want more hours from him. He lives with his Mum and half brother and he now rings me when he wants advice on stuff. He has quickly realised that earning money takes effort and he doesn't want to waste his money. We also had a discussion about superannuation and shares as well as opportunity cost. You only have so many dollars and all of these competing things to spend money on.

Bikes win, broken bones etc. But a very good time had, fast forward a bit. All 3 were warned at 17 & 1/2 years old, you have 6 months to get your shit in order, as you are moving out! Best thing ever, yes they had a choice, job, university, tafe and pay rent as well. They all had a car supplied or bike or both. 😅 happy for filled life, a trade each and a real perspective on just how hard it is to be an adult. Best thing is now they all are glad they learnt to stand on their own 2 feet. Sometimes Chris you have to be cruel to be kind. ❤it

Used to love working hard on a weekend with dad then sitting down for some Mario golf on the 64, even better if dad played. Good to see you've got him disciplined, get him out in the yard more then go have a game with him, it'll make both your weekends I'm sure of it. Another top video Chris.

My son is ten he has all the electronic dodads and whatnot. Same with my 8 year old daughter. Number one rule as parents kids need tasks . I make my kids work. I refuse to have a child who is going to be useless and need to live with me when they are grown. As my parents say having kids is free labour! Hell I was working with my dad since I was knee high to a duck. My fondest memory is doing drywall with my dad when I was 5 or working with my grandfather on the road equipment. That’s why when I was kicked out at 16 for partying way to much I had a job and money so I was able to provide for myself.

As I told them from the beginning.... "I have passed (insert year level), I don't need to do it again. I will explain the question to you but I will NOT give you the answer" I mean my parents never gave me the answer to any of my homework. They might point me in the direction of a book or library section that could help but it was up to me to do the work. Mind you my mum left school at the age of 14 in 1946 and dad was 17 in 1947 when he left so they wouldn't have been much help with my university physics classes....

sprogs and sprockets are such a joy..... We have to remember we are here to teach them not to be their friends..... and if you dont get a I HATE YOU, every now and then you are not doing your job of raising them with the ability to handle the real world when they grow up and have to become useful remembers of our warped society.... Best of luck.... a wheelbarrow of rocks for his next desert or time on the switch..... lol .... yep my kids said I was a mean mum....

It's funny when they turn 18 and have their PC's in their rooms and think that they now control how much they play. Sorry kids, Gen X created computers and we had operation systems that didn't do everything for us. So we know how to make it look like something is broken in a way that you have no idea how to fix. Those that can fix a thing, control a thing.

This kid is dangerous. He is seeking a shrink every week. He lit a stack of boxes on fire with a lighter. Have to protect my kids from him. He has all of the serial killer warning signs.

Lock him up in the house so that if he starts a fire, he perishes in the flames.
The realisation of the consequences of his actions will soon dawn on him.
