I bought this one too! So cool that you were there. I was not.

What do you think of the live recordings themselves.
I think they're pretty damned good.

Nice weather here too, only getting up to around 18 during the day....though the nights are rather cold, around 4 last night. Lovely boxset of an amazing album which I have been tempted to buy a few times, but something always seems to pre-empt it for some reason. The fact that you were at that show definitely would make it a must-have for your collection.

Thanks Mike......good to hear the weather is holding out for you as well.
Ya...it's a great boxer and you're right...once I found out that it was those shows recorded at Maple Gardens I had to have it.
It was my very first concert, 13 years old, in grade 8 March break and a crazy RUSH fan at the time. It was a perfect first show!.

I did not have Permanent Waves on vinyl so I bought the 40th box of it. The mix was so flat and dull that I bought an early pressing that blows it away. For Moving Pictures, I have first release MasterDisk press that I don't think any reissue can beat.

In many cases I find the OG pressing is as good or better than the re-issue or the 30th/40th Anniversary editions.
My OG Moving pictures from '81 sounds fabulous.

Are these live songs the same versions from Exit Stage Left? I see some songs on there that were not on that album and that is awesome, but if the rest of it is the same stuff on ESL, I am not seeing enough incentive to buy this other than for the artwork stuff. Rush boxsets and anniversary packages frustrate me because there is never anything I have not already heard before. All the "remastering" does not make any difference really to me.

I hear ya. There are 13 live tracks on Exit Stage Left and there are 24 live tracks in the Box sets so you do het 11 more live tracks from that same tour. Sides 1, 3 and 4 from ESL were recorded in Montreal a couple of nights later than what is in the Box Set so the versions are similar of the same 13 songs but the main this for me was the fact that I was there on March 25th 1981 so I had to have this.

This has an entirely different sound compared to Exit...Stage Left. I enjoy it much more.
Exit sounds like it's recorded much further back in the arena. This is a much more raw sound. You can tell the Moving Pictures songs are still very new to them. They are not as tight as the rest of the song. That's what make thos set so great.
I'd compare closer to All the World's a Stage sound than Exit...Stage Left.
That's a big plus in my book.
