My family is Australian. They make a recipe like this called "egg in the hole" it's basically the same but instead of scrambling the egg you leave the yolk runny. It mixes into the bread once you bite into the yolk it's really delicious! If you like this recipe try it 🙂. I'm not sure if you can put the discarded bread circle back on I'll have to try that actually.

I am from the US and my dad always made it like this for me when I was growing up! Except we called it "Eggs in a basket" haha. I love the yolk runny because you can go back and dip your bread in it for extra flavor. :)

@@observer4649 exactly. Leave the yolk alone as though your making eggs over easy. The difficulty making it in my experience is it's quite a fast set of actions once you start cooking and a bit hard to get the bread toasted and the egg cooked but still runny.

My mom used to make this for breakfast. She called it "Egg in a Basket". The way she did it was slightly different though. She wouldn't scramble the egg (that way you get to let the yoke pour over the toast when you break it) and She would toast the circular biscuit separate so it would get crispy on both sides. I really want to try this method though, with scrambling in the basket, it looks really good :)

This is the only way I can make an over easy egg without breaking the yolk. My mom calls them Dippy Eggs because you break off the crust of bread and dunk them in the runny yolk.
    😋
Just don't beat the egg. I like to toast one side of the bread first, flip it, add the egg, cook, then flip again for only a few seconds. If you don't toast the bread first, that side doesn't crisp up in the time it takes to keep a runny yolk.

I discovered your channel during the pandemic and being in a strict lockdown. You helped me recover a deep part of me that I thought was long gone. You brought back hope, laughter, and trust that we can live better lives. My dream place is Iceland. I am a girl that never fits the patterns. I was always different in my family, and today I believe that was the strong feeling inside my heart that kept me moving. Even though sometimes it meant disconnecting from my roots. It has been a long journey to learn to love myself and find my place on this earth. Iceland it's my dream place and a deep connection with my heart because of how it stays solid and beautiful outside of the typical destination for many people. It's like an inspiration that I can be an outsider to the place I've grown in, but still find strength and value inside myself. ❤

Thank you, I've just made this for my supper/evening meal. But because I'm watching my food intake (fat intake at least) I very lightly buttered the outside of the bread, both sides and one side of the circle, before adding it to the pan, added chopped onion - rather than green onion - and bacon and the egg and then baked it in the oven which was on anyway for other meals. It was lovely and probably healthier (I hope) than frying in the butter. Crisp top and bottom and was a lovely, and light, meal for the evening. Will be making it again.

I'd like to make a suggestion for a slight change to this for you, instead of 'sugar toast' try making a spread made out of butter and brown sugar with a dash of cinnamon, it will have the texture of starchy gravy but over toast, (or baked inside an apple where the core used to be and wrapped in tinfoil for a firepit) is sweet but heavenly, and the little circles make it entirely acceptable amount of 'treat' sweet and savory with the toast with egg in the middle
