  • Ted Patrick devotes his life to deprogramming brainwashed cult members after infiltrating the Children of God.
    About Drunk History:
Based on the popular web series, Drunk History is the liquored-up narration of our nation's history. Host Derek Waters, along with an ever-changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the country to present the rich tales that every city in this land has to offer. Booze helps bring out the truth. It's just that sometimes the truth is a little incoherent.

It wasn't just cults- it was also different political ideologies and sexual orientations that these parents wanted their adult children "rescued" from. He was also known to use some pretty extreme methods to bring them back- Ted Patrick did some amazing work for people who needed it and who were very grateful to be deprogramed, but also parents could hire him to force their kids to come back from whatever ideology they had themselves

all people are complicated. Ted Patrick, as an example-he had many negative qualities but you probably dont know how it was like in the seventies. Cults were running rampant, totally destroying families and individual persons-the police couldnt help since the people were adults. Ted Patrick did many controversial things but overall his work was much more positive than negative. Somebody had to do illegal things in order to save families and young people.

Reprogramming has also came with its own controversy regarding gaining large amounts of money from the families.
