Your garden looks absolutely GORGEOUS! I had given up on my garden because all the birds were having a buffet breakfast every morning with my veggies! :( But now you have given me hope! You have inspired me to start a garden again! I am so excited, I can't wait! I appreciate you going step by step with the construction of the cover. There is no way I could have done this without your help! Thank you soooo much! Now my family and I will finally be able to enjoy homegrown food.
They just sit on top of the 8" wide block. The notches at the end of the cages keep them on the block wall and are locked in by the watering system pipe. We put the wire on the inside because of the width of the wire we used. Also it will protected the ends of the wire from scratching you.
Perfect! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this incredibly well-designed cover. Just right for a low end DIY person like myself. How do we do with Opossums and Raccoons??
Awesome video! Can you show how you have ensured the cage stays firm on the top of the block? Also would be great if you could explain the water pipe construction that you showed and how it integrates with your cages since there are multiple of them?
These are the best I have seen. Great video. How are you keeping them secured to the bed? Also, I was considering putting the wire on the outside. Any thoughts about that?
Love this cage just perfect for me to make myself>>> The best one on youtube so far!!!!!!! How do u get in and out of the beds??? I would love to add a door to get into and out of but don't know how to design, also would love to learn how to make one for my whiskey barrels planters. Also what gauge of wire did u use thanks!!!!!!
Great idea I'm going to do this but I needed to find a way to make sure it doesn't blow off, not really sure how I'm going to secure it to concrete. If anyone has some ideas for this I would be interested.
This looks perfect to protect tomatoes in my straw bale garden. Thank you! I may have missed it (I apologize) but what kind of wire should I ask for? i.e. gauge, spacing etc. Better yet who is the manufacturer and item number of the product?
I purchased the wire from my local hardware store. 1/2 " holes comes in a 48" wide role. You can try Tractor Supply or ACE Hardware, Lowes and Home Depot should also have some.
love the way you made your cages. I am trying to make something that will protect my vertical garden tower from the animal. All i see is ground garden frames.
ALL ABOUT HIM ... you can possibly find it at a hardware store, animal feed & supply store, tractor supply. It is a type of chicken wire or fencing to contain small animals. Good luck😊
I'm looking for some wire reinforced zip ties and just found some on Amazon. Raccoons eat zip ties so we need metal. You can probably get different lengths. "HYCC 100pcs 11.8 Inches 304 Stainless Steel Cable Zip Ties Exhaust Wrap Coated Locking"
pamela leitman not to bad. We use 8x8x16” block and stacked it dry Incase we wanted to move it. You level the bottom were you are laying the block so they lay flat. Then just stack them. Once stacked fill the in side with a mixture of sand and saw dust. It’s soft and lightweight great for planting and harvesting.
This is great! Thanks for sharing 😁
Great job and it looks nice! Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant and very good looking. I think this will be my go to method to keep critters out.

Thank you for sharing your project. I was considering making a flight cage for my cockatiel, and wasn't sure if PVC would hold the wire netting.
Absolutely awesome. Thank you :)
This looks like something I can do, thank you for posting this.

Great video, curious why you put the wire material inside the pvc structure vs over it. Tks.
By putting the wire on the inside , makes it easier to grab the cages and move them without getting stabbed by the cut wire ends
So beautifully made! You take it off to tend your plants each time correct?
pamela leitman yes just tip one side and prop it up with a stick or something.
Very nice!

Take this idea and make the legs taller for you taller plants
Can bees get in to pollinate plants?
Yes the holes are large enough that the bee can come and go.
How do you access your plants? Do you just lift it off?
Nancy McIntosh
yes we just lift one of the side up and prop it up with a 2x4. We have now put handles on the cages. I will try yo upload a photo.
Where did you get your fencing from? I am not able to find that type anywhere near me.

I had a repair recently outside using zip ties and it actually snapped off and seems like it did not weather so well. Any other suggestions ?

Is the actual bed difficult to make?
