  • Big in 2019: international breweries to look out for | The Craft Beer Channel
    In the second instalment of who to look out for in the world of craft beer in 2019 we escape the UK to look at breweries doing interesting and exciting things in less likely locations - we try Poland's Browar Stu Mostow, Canada's Collective Arts, Italy's CR/AK and Third Barrel from Dublin, Ireland.

    Browar Stu Mostów definitly one of the best if not the best in Poland right now. If you want to visit Poland always look for Baltic Porters, esspecially from Widawa Brewery, and lately AleBrowar pulled out great DDH DIPA series.

    So glad to see Collective Arts in this list! I was going to suggest them in the comments, and then you turned around can number 2, and there it is. Didn't recognize "Life in the Clouds" because, as you point out, all the artwork is different. Another of their beers I love is "Ransack The Universe". Better than 'Life...' imho. grab it if you see it. I'd love to see you review it. Cheers!

    Love Collective Arts, great team promoting them in the UK and Europe, probably the best kept secret is Brew your mind in Hungary, they could be as big as anyone mentioned but the head brewer prefers to keep sales local so it is all drunk fresh. Crak are decent too, Flugge in Germany are another with great potential.

    Stu Mostow (100 Bridges) from Wroclaw, yes, one of the great breweries in Poland but Poland is full of great micro breweries. Stu Mostow does make a great AIPA which is fantastic from a fresh barrel.

    Being able to have Crak beers pretty frequently is one of the privileges of living in Italy. You're right about their cans too. Even for a pretty popular beer like a New England IPA the design is simple and beautiful, evocative of the brew inside.

    "Crak-Pesche'' is great...but they're best on barrel aged&sour beers are:
    _''Mansueto''
    a barley wine in whisky and rum barrels;
    _''IGA Merlot Riserva (Annata 2017)";
    _''BL01''
    a sour ale brewed with brett and aged in Barolo wine barriques.
    These are masterpieces, I strongly recommend them💣💣💣

    Oh hey Collective Arts, nice! They're pretty good and they have a really fun festival in June. That said there's better breweries for every style they make in the local area. I'm really excited they're exporting though, it's probably the first Canadian brewery most people have heard of other than Dieu du Ciel.

      I bet there are better local breweries - it has been interesting to see them grow so fast and that or course is down to the marketing not the beer - but we have loved their recipes too. Well made and very drinkable - with a great concept. Hope to visit one day and see the smaller guys.

    CR\AK is awesome. I haven't tried their peach one yet but the rest just rocks. This is the ENG version of the label: Pesche is a sour wild ale blend aged 14 months with peaches grown in our farm, 90% steel tank and 10% in Amarone barrique.

    In Australia, we recently voted the hottest 100 craft beers of 2018. Over 31,000 votes. Top 5: Balter XPA, Stone & Wood Pacific Ale, Bentspoke Crankshaft (an IPA), Young Henry's Newtowner (a pale ale) and Bridge Road Beechworth Pale Ale. All cracking beers, but in my biased opinion Crankshaft is the best beer in Australia!

    Us Belgians are, ironically enough, very late into the craft beer industry... I suspect some kind of over-zealous pride over our well-known beverages...Which prevents us from experimenting too much.
    I'd like to think that l'Ermitage will explode this year though. They are churning out new beers like mad and they are always very interesting. They don't sell their products outside of Brussels very often though... But there are some interesting collabs and TTO to look for, I believe.
    Other than that, it pains me to realize that I'll have to check foreign countries for new, creatives offerings. There's only so much you can do with trappists ~~~~

    • @TheCraftBeerChannel
      @TheCraftBeerChannel  5 років тому

      We have had some very interesting L'Ermitage beers - some better than others! We will look them up again for sure to track progress.
      I think Belgium is behind the other modern brewing nations purely because their beer was already world class - there was less dissatisfaction with beer so there was less urgent need! The same in Germany
