Fun fact: mexican norteña music was started by German immigrants to the north of Mexico playing Polka.
If you listen to the music in the background it is very similar.
Way to go. You went to the Hofbrauhaus.
In college I had a friend that was a chemistry major. He had a theory about medieval brewing. He used a medieval beer recipe and brewed a batch. For water he used disgusting water out of a dirty duck pond. The water was tested first and found to be polluted and unfit for human consumption.. When the beer was finished, they tested it and discovered that it was completely healthy and safe to drink. The brewing process has disinfected the bad water and made it drinkable. That's why brewing was so popular in the middle ages. It was the only way they had to make their polluted water safe to drink. That was his theory.
makes sense!!!!
Couldn't they just boil the water
It’s just a myth that’s been repeated so much people think it’s true.
This is not a theory, but established historical fact. But thank you for pointing it out.
Fermentation has been used for millennia as a way to avoid polluted and contagious water.
In southern regions, wine and mead were made from fermented grapes and apples. This is France, Spain, Portugal.
In the latitudes above these, the Lager beer fermentation process was developed and perfected for their crops: wheat and other varieties. Oh and hops were discovered for their wonderful antibiotic properties that assisted in the brewing process as well. This is where Germany is found, so the German Lager comes as no surprise.
And then in the northern regions where these plants cannot grow, people fermented things like potatoes and other plants to produce spirits.
Before refrigeration, you had to produce what your local conditions, climate and crops would allow. This explains how the Russians are known for their vodka.
@@pauliegatto7275 They didn't understand the connection. Germ theory emerged only in the late nineteenth century. Plus, boiling only addresses biological threats, not toxins or other pollution.
If you have more time you must visit Weltenburg abbey in kelheim. It is the world’s oldest beer brewing monastery with beer garden and church.
So glad you guys liked Hofbrauhaus as I did as well! To be honest, I didn’t care for beer until I tried their beer. I even asked if I could buy a case of it to bring back to the US, but apparently couldn’t at the time. Safe travels!
The Oktoberfest is the biggest party in the world, but getting roudy is not permitted... fun is. The singing, dancing, drinking, and food is so wonderful. I did the 1987 Oktoberfest.
I’ve been to the Hoffbrauhaus and to their hall at Oktoberfest, and still have a stein!! Actually, there is a miniature Hoffbrauhaus in Morro Bay, CA as well. They do have Hoffbrau beer, but it’s mostly a sandwich place. Go back for Oktoberfest, it’s crazy. And if you return to Germany, you’ve got to try sauerbraten!!
We have a stein, too. Hubby got it in the early 60s when he was in the Army.
Can’t wait to hear where you’ll go next!
You MUST go to España!!!! The fact that you can speak Spanish and the food, culture, and all of the beautiful places should DEFINITELY be on your bucket list!!!!
you did not visited the oldest brewery. you just visited a restaurant where they serve the beer from the oldest brewery.
at 1.10 the one you describe here is a bear garden which is a sitting out place and this is several hundreds years old and reflect how they had than.
Lived in Munich for many years...the scents and spirits have stayed with me forever. Living in PV, longing to move back to Munich. So glad you guys loved it!
Was the beer served warm or cold?
Cold obviously. Where in the world serves warm beer?
I mean the Oktoberfest tents are set up to host as many people as possible. These beer halls are very old buildt in a time of way less population and almost non existing tourism 😊
You could have taken the train 1/2 hour to Freising to the oldest brewery in the world. Weihenstephan, since 1044.
Taking lunch break watching your video, 1st again
Oh nein. Did both of you have a halfWeis bier at Augustiner? You did not like the atmosphere ? Food? Hoffbrau did it for you though? Planning a trip to Munchen myself and (not drinking the halfweis).
Hefeweizen or heffeweiss or just weissbier not half Weiss
It looked like the weather was cool in Munich, what week were you there?
Pretty sticking HOT right on
Now
Hoffbrauhaus is more of a destination for tourists. Augustiner Helles was the best beer i drank while in Munich.
YES. Looking forward to a good (not halfweis) bier there. Helles for sure.
Not a big beer drinker but have had beer in Munich. Enjoyed it.
Also thought you'd enjoy knowinh Zurich and Calgary tied for # 3 on the Best Cities of World To Live list..Vienna is # 1 and Copenhagen #2....Go Zurich. Keep having fun.
You two are such a fun couple! ❤️
Norteña music, accordion Oralee!
You two always manage to have a good time! Glad you enjoyed Germany.
How much do things cost in Germany? Is inflation an issue there like it is in much of the world?
I’m just back from Munich ,.,lovely place ,beautiful people ,.,however the beer mostly is crap,.,you are always served helles ,ok for a few minutes then flat ,.,.the food in the beer halls is tough to take,.,.however it’s a fantastic place and I would go back ,..I was mainly on the wine
Traditional Bavarian food food culture here is really different depending on where you are.
Oh! I’m sad that you’re Done in Germany too!
When are you guys heading home? I am having Mexico withdrawals LOL
I checked out the Hofbräuhaus in Munich several years ago. It was kind of weird knowing that Hitler got his start, as far as public speaking, in that same building.
I thought it was the Bürgerbräukeller Hitler had its rallys, never heard of Hofbräuhaus.
@ - I guess that you learned something new. Easy enough to research.
@@WiseOwl-1 I will and let you know of the result.
Atravez de ustedes empiezo a extrañar Germany tambor 😭
As a local i can be your Oktoberfest guide 😂
Also hubby loved Oktoberfest. He said the go to food there is the rotisserie chickens.
luckily tastes differ, the hofbräuhaus would be too crowded and, above all, too loud for me, and making music in the background wouldn't be my cup of tea either..... but munich is a beautiful city, i like living here...
🛫 Since you are/were going to the airport, wondering what your next adventure is/was. Don't think you have revealed that to us. Exciting!
What beautiful is munich, amazing and wonderful ❤️
Let's not forget that the biggest payouts in the markets don't come from great performances but rather it's great promotions. Stay invested, diversification for streams of incomes is very important.
You're absolutely right Waiting for the government to provide is a big waste of time, Investing is how you create Wealth, started investing from pandemic crash
11:00 so funny 🤣🤣🤣
No one, is most beautiful than Hilary
Have you learned any German while you were there?
I like Hofbrauhaus but Augustiner is the best Munich has. It is GREAT beer. PLEASE go to Weihenstephan brewery in Freising Germany just north of the Munich Airport. The Worlds Oldest Brewery, and by far my favorite beer PERIOD! HB is pronounced HOF Broy House = Hofbrüahause.
My hubby spent tons of time at the Haufbrau Haus in Munich. He loved it!
Just want to say one thing:
HOFBRÄHAUS RULES GUYS
Bavarian music is the origin of Sinaloa's banda music!!! When you listen to Bavarian bands, sometimes you can close your eyes and imagine them in Norteño attire...
Hi guys! ¡Salud! I'm with you, Hill: I don't love beer. I only drank it when I was nursing my babies. Wives' tales say the yeast in beer is great for breast milk production... Sorry TMI! :-)
I thought the HaufbrauHaus was a huge letdown when I was there. Bier-good. Food-sucked.
why didnt you go to Dachau? there is a part of history that you need to learn…
Wow go figure tourists like the Hofbrau how typical. I guess trying a place that the locals might go to for something delicious and authentic is not possible?
Did we gain a little weight on this fantastic trip? 🥃
`From what I watch and see of the two of you, you're doing it right! ¡Vayas! ¡Hazlo! ¡Sigue! :)
Told ya lol
What party killers. This is Proof that It pays to be negative.
What a waste of 11mins sorry
Great you liked it here in München! You are always welcome back.
But Germany is way more than just Munich. You definitely should check out Hamburg in the north next time. It has a total different flair to it. God bless you!
the funny thing is that the Munich people prefer to go to the Augustiner, Hofbräuhaus is for tourists
Not exactly true. Many Germans love and patronize the Hofbrauhaus, and have their always-reserved "Stammtisch" private tables.
When I was stationed in Germany, Germans hated when we said Munich and quickly corrected us to say Munchen. Is that still the case and has anyone else experienced this?
Yes
Wien
I think goyo is a light weight 🤭
😆 to pronounce that word imagine „Óbatzda“ - not „Obátzda“ 😉 and „German“ beer outside Bavaria is very much different from that beer you tried in Munich 🤓 After 2,5 litre you wouldn’t walk that straight anymore 😂 if you would be able to drink it anyhow bc it’s way stronger 😜 BTW PLEASE stop considering „Bavaria“ = „Germany“ as they only got German passports - just saying 🤪 Culture and language is much more like Austrian. There are even people thinking about separating - for very good reasons 🙄 Maybe you want to visit Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Köln to get something to know about „Germany“?
Been to Germany many times. There's something about German beer that you can drink all you want and never wake up with a hangover.
I do not like beer 🍺
Cool. Good story.
There‘s no point in the whole video. You say you‘re not a beer drinker, then you get it all wrong by saying you’re visiting the oldest brewery, and then you talk about your expectations.
I really don’t understand the point of your video, it’s completely useless.
Ok Gringos!
If I hear 1 more pretzel story cancel there coffee business
There’s nothing not to like about Hofbrauhaus. A very boring video.
"trying traditional German food"
Aye, there's the rub. You have to suffer through the unpronounceable and inedible sausages.
EU beers are not the best. Especially, German ones! 😁😁😁
