Do you have any plans on making a video for your rhino essentials channel demonstrating how to get a topographic/contour map and transform it into a 3D model
Yes. I use my iPad as much in my architectural practice as I use my PC desktop set up. I’ve played a bit with the iPad version and for some tasks it is great, but I am finding the interface cumbersome and confusing at times. Only watched the SketchUp intro video so far. Just saved your video to watch later. Looking forward to it.
Great tutorial dude. Can you do a tutorial on creating terrain like a sloped block of land with undulations. I’m new to sketchUp and I’m starting out on iPad. I’m building a container house so I’m trying to fast track sketchUp on iPad 🤙🏾
Great tutorials…thank you! I keep running into dead ends here. Trying to decide what 3D modeling software to use that’s is compatible with iPad Pro. I’ve landed on SketchUp however learning that the extensions, specifically parametric design tools like Scale, I want to use are NOT compatible with the iPad Pro. I will only be using the 3D modeling tool for parametric wood designs. I guess my question now is, are the parametric tools included in the SketchUp Pro version worth it? Am I missing out completely by using an iPad? I’m no architect, just looking to create some designs that I can export in 2D and build myself. Any advice?!? Thanks!!
Awesome tutorial. Will you be posting part 2? I am new to SketchUp, mainly for woodworking, and your videos have pretty much taught me everything I know lol
Sorry- I'm done with sketchup. I've enjoyed your tutorials, and learned a lot from you. But as a weekend woodworker with limits on spending I can't justify making another subscription payment for software I only occasionally use. And now they have gone out of their way to make my old free versions unusable (3d warehouse). I'm done...
Inputting numbers in the calculator, you dont have to delete them before typing something in there. You can draw, then start typing directly in the calculator, even though there are numbers there. Just a thought.
Hey thanks for all of the great videos! It's been a while since I've used SketchUp, but want to come back to it on iPad. The one thing I haven't seen from any reviews is a basic comparison of the ipad version to the desktop version: what's included, what's not, and if this can be a standalone solution for Sketchup if you only have an iPad and no traditional computer with the desktop version. For example, I don't see an outliner, which IIRC is a really helpful feature to have to organize and navigate a project. I feel like even a basic project like designing some cabinets would really benefit from an outline view. Also, can you do other things like create and print project plans? I haven't seen any comment one way or the other. That's another feature I feel would be a must-have. I wouldn't want to have my pricey device out on a shop with a lot of dust/debris around. Thanks again for all of your great videos and info!
Hey, thanks for all the tutorials. I'm looking to use my sketchup model to do some heavy stuff. I do commercial construction and have the structural steel package modeled up and in my ipad. My intent is to use the AR function to compare the work being put in place with the model. Do you have any content that would help with this? I'm having trouble getting it to line up right.
Could I ask for one thing? When I use like Sketchup free in browser, when the file goes 15-20 mb of size, it starts lagging pretty much. When it comes to 25-30 it starts to freeze the browser for a few seconds, and you know.. the more size the bigger lags. Is that also on the desktop version? I mean I have 8 gigs of ram and 4 vram of video card cause I work on my laptop, since my computer is a hundreds of kilometeres from my actual home, and I just wonder IF I BUY a desktop version it will still lag because of my ram and graphic card, or... if i upgrade my ram in laptop to 16 gb the problem will disappear? So to sum up, I don't know hwat causes the problem. The web limitations, or my laptop specs, and if thedesktop version is different when it comes to computer parts usage.
Hi Sketchup Essentials - I would like to find out how the Ipad air / pro models handle larger sketchup files. I want to buy something like ipad air / pro that will make me mobile for architectural & interior work but im afraid that sketchup on ios is not stable it isint going to allow my models from my pc to be worked on the ipad if im not around the pc. I do know the bigger 1 and 2tb models offer a extra 8gb of ram but from what i have seen it hardle even gets used in a head to head battle comparison to normal 8gig versions. Unfortuantely they didnt test sketchup on the 16gb ram version so im hoping that you perhaps have done something like that ( most homework i did the sketchup viewer has 100mb file size limit or it will keep crashing) It will really burst my bubble if i cant use this for what im hoping i can - your response will be utmost appreciated. Thanks for the great channel keep up the good work
I find it unlikely the Ipad version is going to be able to handle files that big. I've not done in-depth testing, but I do think performance on the Ipad is going to be lower than performance on the PC
@@Thesketchupessentials Thanks for the reply perhaps im going to have to do minimal approach on ipad such as.... 1)Bringing in floor plans to ipad and do all the necessary wall, floor, window, door modeling to get model erected. 2) Setup angles for some 2D exports which i can take to procreate and sketch a few Spacial ideas for interior floorplan and exterior views. 3) take the file to pc ( cleanup using extensions ). 4) Bringing in furniture etc from warehouse to do interior and exterior. 5) Taking it to lumion for realistic 3ds. Ive seen That people were complaining that even on the sketchup viewer on the ipad crashes every now and then.
Hi bro I'm a new subscriber. You have a good content! I just have a question regarding the Sketch-up. I have a monetized channel and I teach construction guides on my channel. My next content will have a screen record of a Sketch-up "Free" involve. Is it illegal when it comes to sketchup terms?
I hope those guys wake up to the fact that therer are a lot of people out there owning a Surface pro 8 Tablet. Which is imo the better choice for SU, but SU needs a tailored interface for a Windows 11 tablet.
Hi everyone! Let me know if you're using SketchUp for Ipad in the comments below!

I will - I'm currently trying to figure out if I want to move all SU for Ipad tutorials to their own channel, so...more to come I guess :)
Very insightful video, could you please release the second part. I was really following along and would love to learn more.

Yes, trying to get up to speed on SketchUp for ipad. Very cool. Thank you! Please consider adding more advanced tutorials. JA

Thank you
Hey,
Sketch up will work on any ipad ?
Or any specific ipads?
Tysmmm❤!

Hello, thank you for all the great videos, can I model organic forms with the iPad version? I need to model tents and sail shades.
There are ways, but in general, that's not the tool I'd use for that application
@@Thesketchupessentials if is not to much trouble, what tool do you suggest I should use? Thank you in advance

I’ve noticed they must have made a change, since I can draw with my pencil and navigate with my other finger while I’m actively drawing.
Any sign of Part 2?
Is the Sandbox available in the iPad version? thx
Unfortunately no
