    A lot of American build it their selves. Nice shed and your labor was free. You give other people the confidence to build one with their family.

      a lot of people in general just do many things themselves, it's not just an American thing to DIY stuff
      edit: humans as a species can do anything if we would just work together and set our feelings aside

      Agree but the labor is not necessarily free, there is an opportunity cost to DIY. If your time spent doing something else could generate more value than the cost of paying a laborer, you are losing money. Generally, the less your time is worth the more DIY makes sense financially.

    Your work is amazing! Yes, building codes and HOA wouldn’t allow you to build that close to the fence. You have great ideas for projects that you completely finish. Nice video. Just a heads up from an engineering standpoint a single 2x8 beam supporting 4' (1/2 of 8') of load at 40psf live load and 10psf dead load fails in bending moment. Even if you were using Douglas Fir. Then adding the roof load adds to the issue. I'm sure it will be fine for a shed but the member that you nailed the hangers onto should have been doubled.

    Thanks, anyone.

    Those concrete footers blocks are garbage. I tried to use them for a deck I built for a client. You can kick the corners off. Some broke off in transportation. Extremely weak. I returned them instantly. You can dig footers put in 8" tube and fill with quick set and still have your foundation done in a day, and it will be infinitely stronger.

    OSB swells when it gets wet (like humidity). I’m thinking you should’ve put a plastic vapor barrier underneath along with some polyethylene styrofoam insulation + Zip-Systems tape or a sealer on the cut ends.
    I mean why use pressure-treated & then put unprotected OSB RIGHT ON-top of it all & not think you need the water-proofing & resistance on the floor?.

    • @D-proGram_Yousef
      @D-proGram_Yousef 2 місяці тому +1

      👍💯 All in all he did a respectable job I thought. though I'd only add 2 things to your on point observation.
      #1 it's *oriented* strand board ,as in, its only structurally sound when like you said when it stays dry.. and when the directionally oriented strands are installed oriented in the proper direction. Which is always length wise across the studs, joists or rafters. Rather than running sheets length wise ('8ft) up the rafters. Which he probably did here to get less waste or fewer cuts. But i guarantee that 22" & 3/8 inches between the rafters will sag over not so long of a time if its unsupported for more than '4. ...
      And #2 ditch the x type pier pads for ones with saddles and run a couple of pressure treated 4x6s under the moisture barriered floor joists so the T-111 can run all the way down 5" or 5" &1/2 inches past the floor seam, onto the rim joists to avoid moisture seeping into the edges of the exposed floor. Cheers! 🍻 💪🔨📐🪚 🇺🇲

    As long as you don't have any part of your shed hanging over the fence or any water run off going over the fence onto your neighbor's property, ffine. You still could've moved it up another foot. This is why towns require permits for sheds regardless of how it gets built. Not cool to say you don't care about your neighbors because your backyard is small. That's your problem, not theirs.
