In Finland you can get quarter cow meat 100kg (I guess it's 200lb) for 240euros (250dollars) and horse for 200euros per 50kg (100lb) all grass fed. But gasoline costs 12dollars per gallon 😄😄
my problem is the local farms that offer such a service dont have a very good sense of marketing or customer service. their ads are confusing, their responsiveness to questions from "civilians" who dont know the beef world are incomplete at best, and they tend to want to leave you to the mercies of the butcher, who seems to often have the same quality of customer service. i have literally been given a butchers cut list that was xeroxed so many times it was unreadable. these butcher box type companies come in with slick marketing and outstanding customer service and they win.
I've tried 3 subscription type supposedly farm raised beef box companies in the last couple of years and it's been a disaster each time. One company that was recommended by a farm family that I watch all the time did send a wonderful box the 1st order...then it was terrible the last 2 boxes I got. I was so upset. It was not any better than what we get at the store. And what we usually get at the store is gross...the ribeyes now are like some kind of fajita thin cut meat. That would not be so bad if the flavor was good. But it is not. On my diet I have to stick to very real foods and no processed foods. No flour, sugar, carbs, etc... It's hard! I would be interested in trying your beef. I don't see any link though to any store site to order from. TY for the explanation!!! This is the way it used to be for us back in the day, going in with another family or two to buy a beef to grow out and have butchered. We even had a butcher shop in our tiny town that would sell in season wild meats like deer and such. I miss the 70's~
the price of beef and meat in general is going to become VERY expensive as we go through breakdowns in the supply chain and this Great Reset. I don't think I can commit to it, but it makes me want to become a butcher mostly to try and be more self sufficient during the coming crisis. JBS meats halting production was only a dry run.
