Not trying to complain. I can handle it, my feelings will be ok 🙂 I just hate how hypocritical/judgemental some people are (!!!) and felt like a rant was in order.

    • @LynHannan
      @LynHannan 2 роки тому +2

Rant away, dear, its cathartic. This sort of "damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't" crap has been going on for soooo long, and won't be stopping anytime soon. People haven't learned to walk in other's shoes, so they can't even begin to understand or care. They don't matter. Have a rant. Get it off your chest. Hubby lets me rant and has learned that I'm not necessarily asking for a solution - just needing to vent my feelings of frustration. I feel stronger for it simply because the person who means the most to me has actively heard me. Occasionally, he won't agree with me - but he still understands me from where I'm coming from. When you are totally healed and freely choosing and eating your food without a care for "how-am-I-going-to-eat-this", you won't look back nor give that person a second thought. You've come so far, the journey has been worth it; if you need a rant - let her rip - I'm here for you.

Folks, my son wanted too long to have his double jaw surgery. His molars were ground down significantly. John, obviously has never really known anyone who has needed one. I could tell your jaw was misaligned. I say: " Elephant" skin. People are going to talk which you can't control. You can let it "roll off." Hateful remarks are because those people hate themselves and picking on others is a sick way of making them feel better for a millisecond.

    • @jessicaalbright7429

It is scary how unable some people are to empathize and not judge others, and in the end it is really something that is wrong with them and not the person who they are picking on. What these people want, more than anything, is to upset their victim, (in whatever way they determine is the best manipulative way) ) they do this to feel in control. They are controlling you via emotions and that psychologically makes them feel powerful. Just think how messed up they must be to feel better about themselves by trying to make someone else feel bad. That’s straight up nuts. You have helped me so much, I will forever support you. It is 100% your choices, your life, your body.

A huge piece of advice an older female friend gave me when I was your age: move towards the positive people and away from the the negative. Public forum is always going to have strange, unhelpful comments. I can see how your bite closes now. Everyone needs to vent. Take care. Sending love.

I work in the dental field, in fact I have spent my career in the dental surgery field (sorry) I am completely aware of the complications that can arise from not correcting your bite! This was a totally necessary procedure I’m glad you went ahead and did it! It’s not unusual to have swelling a few weeks later. You are doing great! People who are secure in there on skin do not worry about criticizing others!

Even if you did get it for only cosmetic reasons, people don't understand how it feels to have a misaligned jaw and not look the way you know your body should. It's not about being perfectly beautiful and being vain. The mental exhaustion and toll it takes on your mental health to be self conscious all the time SUCKS. Speaking from experience. I really hope you get all the results you desire out of this long journey 💕

Im sorry Kait!! I totally get it. I'm about to have my 3rd jaw surgery and if people knew how hard the process was, they would understand that this surgery is almost never done for cosmetic issues. If you think about it the mouth is such a central part of everything we do, from talking to eating and food in particular is such an integral part of what makes us human. A lot of comfort is taken in eating and when you can't do that, it is very difficult. Also in the US insurance would not cover the surgery if it was for cosmetic results and it is almost always covered. It's not a cheap surgery either. I know my estimate is around 80K People who have normal bites would also never understand how difficult it is to eat and how much we have compensated which in turn has an effect on health. I just realized the other day I never even chew my food because my teeth only touch in one tiny spot. Stay your positive beautiful self and don't worry about the ones that really have no idea what your going through. Sending hugs from the US :)

@@MoreKait Thanks so much!! Unfortunately, I had the surgery 1st done when I was 15 years old. It immediately relapsed and I had a second done when I was 16 and that immediately relapsed too. That was over 30 years ago and surgeons have learned a lot and it really is not done on someone so young anymore. I've been putting the revision off because it is such a difficult surgery. Thank YOU for your support and watching your journey has given me hope that this 3rd surgery for me will work as well as your surgery worked for you. xoxo

Exactly what I wanted to say. Nothing wrong with getting a cosmetic surgery. I would love to have a nose job some day (the sooner the better 😅), but I simply can't do this at the moment. But more to the point, people that always suspect others of telling lies, actually too often do that themselves. It sounds like a cliche, but it's the truth, I promise.

People can be so ignorant. Thank you so much for sharing. Most people just aren't going to get it. I have a severe open bite, my teeth don't show when I talk or smile and like you certain foods are difficult to eat, I'm constantly biting the inside of my jaws and certain words are difficult for me to say. I'm turning 40 next month and I'm just starting my journey. Even my family is questioning why I'm doing it. It really affects your quality of life and how you see yourself. Until people go through it, they have no idea. When I was younger it didn't bother me, but as I age it is and I'm doing it for me!
I appreciate you sharing your journey, you are looking amazing. It makes me excited for my procedure...finally to feel and look normal!💜💜💜

Some people just are not educated about the serious issues around the importance of dental issues. Don't feel bad about getting this surgery no matter what the reason was. You deserve to feel good about yourself! Hey i am 49 and got braces. I am sure some people would say why???? But my crowded teeth were impacting my sinuses and hearing as well. You are correct!!.... You do NOT need to defend yourself.
I highly doubt anyone wants to go through jaw surgery for cosmetic reasons. There are so many risks, there are nerves, blood vessels, etc. and a HIGH possibility of permanent damage. (I.e. your pre op treatment/surgical consent forms.)
Unless someone lives through jaw problems, especially from a very young age, the other person will NEVER understand.
I've heard a quote "I can explain it to you, but you won't understand!. (or something like that, lol).
Do not allow the negative get to you.

Oh, Kait...! You get my admiration for working in the social media space. Takes a thick skin to do successfully.
I suspect there is a bit of a backlash against cosmetic surgery because of how prevalent it is these days. Given so many high profile people outright lie about it makes it so much more distasteful to some. You come across as an open, honest, self accepting, beautiful soul and it might upset a few to think you might be like these high profile folk. There is a moral judgement associated with cosmetic surgery is what I am driving at.
I can imagine how frustrating the swelling would be. Your entire bone, muscle and tendon structure has to find its new settling point. I tend to think frustration is a sure sign you are healing well.

Kait, it really doesn't matter whether cosmetic or not. It's your body! As someone who also does their nails, makeup, likes to dress nicely, gets stylish haircuts etc., I'm not ever gonna defend myself for wanting to look good. You are under no obligation to be transparent to a bunch of strangers, but appreciate how open you have been with your life 😊

I mainly want this for ‘aesthetic’ purpose and it makes me feel worries to go through this huge process and financial expense. Your video has assured me it’s okay if it’s for cosmetic! I’m 54 now. I’ve known I needed jaw surgery for the longest time. I had braces when I was in my 20 and was told I needed the surgery. I had a bad experience with my surgeon and I decided I was not going back to him. I finished the process with my braces but it didn’t fix the problem. Life happened and now I’m back in braces and going to have my surgery by summer. I can’t wait. Thank you for your videos. Don’t pay attention to anyone. Do what makes you happy. Glad you got it off your chest. Don’t stress over it. They’re not worth it. If they see you upset…they win.

Let people who are negative or possibly come from pain....go. Know your truth, live you, enjoy your new spaghetti slurping. People who cannot shake being “critical” and “negative” get some assistance/therapy...you can learn to see things in your daily life...from a less critical/negative self. You only have one life...might as well go through it with a positive grace-filled disposition. It feels good to say nice things to others. You are Beautiful!

You are a very good person, you help a LIT of people, and selflessly. There will always be haters in this life, best thing is to just brush them off, and just know that you don’t need to lower yourself to their level or let them affect you in any way. Judge not, least you be judged…they cannot judge you, if you don’t judge them, just ignore and move on…
You already know, you don’t need to justify anything to anyone, you were beautiful before and beautiful after, but the person you are, is unchanged, what’s inside, is beautiful as well.
I support you, and I know I’m not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with venting, or putting personal opinions out there, if someone didn’t like it, they aren’t forced to agree, or to keep watching! You are such a sweet and kind person, YOU ROCK🥳🥳🥳

Hi Kait - I have just come your channel whilst trying to gain as much information before the start of my jaw surgery process. Thank you so much out of all the internet content I have read your has been the more real, informative and honest. Like talking to a friend.
I am 51 and have put this off or near 4 decades for may reasons until know I am at a point I can not any longer. Although as you say, it shouldn't matter I know your reasons why. I barely have any molars remaining, I am in constant pain, my front teeth are so thin for incorrect contact with lower teeth that tine bits break away every day. I am constantly at the dentist trying to rescue/restore what teeth I have remaining.
Sometimes my husband and I have to sleep apart as you say, I sleep with my mouth open, that's it's natural position because of this condition, which causes me to breathe so heavy or snore that is disturbs his sleep too. At 2am in the morning this sometimes causes resentment, I do get that though. There is nothing worse than being woken up by listening that horrendous noise from me and therefore not able to get back to sleep. He's tried every earplug on the market even the $400 Bose ones, Also as you say, my own quality of sleep is hugely effected.
As far as appearance wise, yes my teeth are so ugly (well the ones that is have left). As I have a underbite and also my jaws are misaligned i.e. the bottom hangs more the right obviously my bite is far from normal and therefore teeth make contact incorrectly so eventually they need to be treated, Countless root canals because of breakage, sometime on the same tooth, to a point where a have said **ck it, just extract it, I am fighting a loosing battle.
Now that I am at this age you start to loose the elasticity in your face so the underbite is so more noticeable than before, plus my jaw also hangs to one side more. I am so glad you had your surgery before you got to my stage as added into this journey at some point I will have to has a few restored more $$$$$$. We have just come back from a family holiday, I am hardly on any pics, if I am I am not smiling. I look such a miserable cow.
My son recalled the other day that when he saw the stand in supply school dentist she was obviously not very said she said to me, what happen to you, you look like you were shot in the face! I was so shocked at how blunt she was, so rude, but so true. I thought my son was going to lunch her, bless him.
Anyway, I have finally had my lightbulb moment and had recently had the first orthodontic appointment. Wow, so many process and information to take in. So many consults with various people first. I might start a flow chart so I can remember all the steps. My lovely orthodontist basically said on 5-10 years you will not one tooth remaining. So that p**ck is just an ignorant, highly unintelligent, obnoxious idiot that does not deserve any more thoughts on him. I know it was 9 moths ago since your clip about him, so he will be long gone, but I thing I would add my say too.
I cried at the orthodontist appointment. Cried, a middle aged woman crying like that. I don't know why, I have known for decades I need this treatment and what is involved, I supposed just hearing it out loud set me off. I nearly used all his tissues up.🤣. I said is it worth is at my age. He said you obviously look after yourself, you look younger than you are and you will have no teeth left. I jokingly said about, I have them all pulled and get returned for my glass of water on my night stand. He even said that was not an option.😫 and I was joking.
Before I get the initial braces fitted first I have to see a peridontist first (never heard of one before, had to google it) as there have to be some restoration work at the end, a couple more molars to help me chew better and something done to the front teeth as they are so brittle as worn away. The orthodontist needs to confer with then so she know how to position the brace for future works by the periodontist, appoint next month. I also need to dee the surgeon before as I may need to have the upper jaw expander plate thing too before the braces. Can't see him until late January next year, which is a pain (literally) as I am on a role I need to get this moving before I may back down again. I am on a. cancellation list, so 🤞.
Please can I ask you Kait, although quite clearly not originally from Australia I heard you say you are now here (I am originally from UK. Which Health fund did you find gave the most financial gain. My estimation at present is $70k all up. Some funds may be better that others so any help/comment on that would be so appreciated. I now there will be a 12 month waiting period. I would need the brace for 12 months anyway before surgery.
I have waffled on a bit, sorry, I think just writing it all down helps me process it. Might not need that flow chart after all.
Thanks again for uploads Kait. Hope you are happy, finally pain free and relieved that it is all over. x

People have no clue. I feel like I need loose skin removal. The cosmetic part would be awesome, but the truth is the skin has caused complications with balance, infections and back pain. So I would certainly consider it a corrective surgery for my health. I think there is more of a "cosmetic" aesthetic thing for what I need than what you did. I have watched your channel for a long time and you have mentioned several times over the years the issues with your jaw. Praying for your continued recovery. Wishing you all the best and forget these haters.

    Hi Kait!
Most of the men who follow you have always found you physically attractive. Your openness about your elective surgery only increased your attractiveness by displaying what I call your “internal” beauty - your logical thought process and your concern for the well-being of others.
None of us have gone through what you’ve endured for these many years. All of us should be empowered to change our lives as we see fit. I’m proud of your decision making and your willingness to go through with a life-changing operation.
