You may have answered this already but when do you get the braces and rubber bands removed? And honestly, I didn't noticed a different until you did the side by side. I can definitely see now why you had it done. But either way, I think you are beautiful. Thanks for the journey! Happy Holidays :)

Hi Kait, thanks for sharing the progress. Today I'm on my 5th day after surgery. My friends never believed I needed surgery and even after using 2 years of braces, they were telling I didn't need?! I was getting angry at first and trying to defend myself, then I decided not to give any importance what they think and not even answer this king of comments. Because I am the one who sees myself in the mirror and I had this jaw in my mouth which made me uncomfortable by looking asymmetrical. Also, you can't expect from everyone to be at the same mental level with you :)) I consider this jaw correction experience as not only physical development but also personal one. I supported myself and my feelings no matter what others think and I feel much stronger now. I sincerely think you look much better now. I wanted share my feelings as I saw your sad video and weird bad comments. Take care!
Kait you look fabulous, happy and healthy! Those photos say a lot-not just about how you look but also about how you were feeling emotionally. Recovery is difficult and scary. I had a facelift and upper blepharoplasty on Dec 8th. It’s a simple procedure compared to yours. But I had complications that were dangerous and scary. Sometimes the pain meds made me a bit wackadooodle. Anyways, your video is a well documented photo journal of your recovery! Thanks for sharing. Stay well and Merry Christmas!!!

Are you able to finally bite through food and keep your jaw closed comfortably? I bet it’s far less fatiguing now. People with good bites do not understand how much jaw misalignments affect overall health. Good for you for getting this done and sharing your experience. 👍🏼

Yes! Its such a weird feeling being able to close it and keep it closed. When I used to smile I would never have it closed at at the end on day 30 you can see when I smile I automatically smile with it open 😅 then realise and close it.
My teeth are still generally sore so haven't put them too much to the test but yes, I can bite through thin things! Woohoooo!!!

(Harry here) Well Kait your looking really good, I would think that talking would hurt though in the beginning. When I saw you right after the surgery I kept pushing on my own jaw because it just looked like it hurt when you talked. Well almost better now it looks like the worst part is over.

@@MoreKait i’m 5 weeks tomorrow and all the inside of my mouth is all cut so not doing that great :( I also have a splint in since i had my top jaw split to be a little wider.. i get that out on the 13th and i can not wait i hate having a lisp!!! I’m excited for it to all be over with

Healing is progressing well. One thing I’ve noticed since the surgery is your left upper eyelid seems to droop lower when you’re relaxed. FWIW.

i got mine done today, and i’m still at hospital. my face swelled up like a balloon. the only complaint i rly have is all the blood im coughing up

Bc of whoever said you did it for cosmetic reasons…. Then it didn’t work? Bc you were beautiful before and you’re beautiful now and your face is just as lovely as before. I had a double jaw surgery 12 days ago and I still look like you on day 8 😅
I’m on week 3 and some change and am still pretty swollen! Everyone’s body recovers differently. Hang in there! Hope your recovery goes well!

I never went through with the surgery but I have a cross bite and it was recommended that I get palette surgery where the roof of my mouth would be broken and I would need to have a spacer with a key to widen the palette. I just went with the braces to fix the over crowding on the top left side of my mouth. I can’t say I know how surgery feels but I did still get the key and went through the braces and rubber bands period. Lol eat that spaghetti proudly now!!!
You didn’t even get swollen. I just got it yesterday. I blew up like a balloon

That first week looked like the worst of it. Occlusion seems about perfect after surgery though. A little fine tuning and your new normal is going to be great.

Did they do the surgery with your braces on? I thought you had to finish orthodontics first then get surgery.

When did they remove the screws out of your mouth, this is my 6th day and my lower face is so tight! I look like a Muppet! Wondering if taking rubber bands and screws allows for the mouth to be less stiff looking..
Never! The screws are staying in. Your face will look tight til about 3-4 months. That's when I noticed the biggest improvements ❤️

Hey! How long do the rubber bands have to stay on post surgery? I’m debating getting braces and jaw surgery for an overbite and TMJ pain, but I’m nervous about how long it will all take. Thanks!
The bands came off 5 weeks post op and then I just had some to wear at night. I am getting my braces off start of May so I will have had them on for 14 months total 🙂 Which really isn't long!

Totally normal! I wasn’t until 3 months post surgery that my swelling was almost all gone.
