  • Breath driving Volume directly via midi into the NSX-39.
A few parts are recorded directly and most are sent through the stereo delay audio effect that comes with Logic.
Very cool little box. I think it would sound far smoother run through a less steppy volume plugin or volume algo within Logic etc.
    Very fun. Very neat technology.

Reminds me of playing the harp when I lived in railroad cars.

Very nice. I've just ordered one of these yesterday and I can see I'm going to have to get a NuEVI as well (given that I did play the trumpet years ago!). The organic control that you get with the breath as well as that wonderful natural vibrato is really next level.

Delay and reverb are also equipped on the NSX-39 itself. Not easy to use, though.

You find the coolest toys and they turn out to be expensive!. Not made anymore. Beats the heck out of a stylophone. There has to be a market for something like this.

Whoa! This is the kind of thing I was looking for in the past--something that's tiny and can be the quickest set up for impromptu jams. The sound is really interesting, too!

That was absolutely fantastic! I need to learn how to do that. I can understand that vowels could be done with a formant filter, but how did you do the consonants?

As far as I know, they are randomly generated. The pitch and volume are being controlled live. You can also enter your own text in Japanese using a web app.

They are simply samples I believe, formants and consonants and all on this unit/technology. Some of the presets rotate through different syllables. Since I made this one I did learn that it may be one of the presets that is a Japanese poem. But I'm not sure. So it's just random for my ears. But also, a good technique on this is to sometimes bend to another note so more than one note is using just one syllable, so to speak. Really fun device.
