South Carolina upstate has gotta be one of the hardest turkey hunting areas in the country. Glad I’m not the only one who struggles.
Lost my old man back in July. Always went into the turkey woods with him on opening day since I’ve started hunting. Gona be a hard one this year. I’ve never got one by myself yet. I’ve always got them with him. I swear he could call a Turkey out of an oven. I pray I can pick up where he left off and continue on
My condolences to you and your family. Get out in those turkey woods, I’m sure your dad wouldn’t want it any other way.
Get one for him this year. Mount it. Treat the meat with the utmost respect. Its how he would likely want it
34 years old and I got my first Turkey today! Appreciate you guys getting me excited enough to get out there and try it! My buddy and I doubled up on Toms out of a blind 3 hours in!
Congrats!!!
Congratulations buddy!
Congratulations!
I’m 63 and got my first birds this year. I and my oldest son have learned a lot from you guys. Thanks and keep up the great videos.
Congratulations!
These Upstate SC birds are their own breed. This whole THP SC trip looks like my season. All over birds, just can’t get one to commit.
I love that you put *gobble in the videos ! I'm hearing impaired and that let's me enjoy it real time! Nice touch whether you meant it or not.
👏
Talk about getting your teeth kicked in! Good on you guys for staying positive and keeping your nose on the grindstone this trip. Definitely makes you more grateful for the hunts where the weather is perfect and you're tripping over gobblers. Thanks for all the work each of you do putting out the content!
Thanks for sharing these episodes- Hunts happen different ways but I agree with you, we don’t scrap hunting altogether because of the times that aren’t what we hope they’ll be.
I love dogs, but I don’t understand why people won’t keep them up. Part of being a responsible pet owner is keeping control of your pet. I’ve had a chocolate lab run a field gobbler off that was coming in. Its really disappointing if you have limited time to hunt and it gets ruined by someone’s dogs.
I have relocated a few.
It happened to me when I was about 10 would’ve killed my first turkey that day but 3 dogs ran them off, we were about 2 miles in the woods on private
I’m not sure, but a good handful of southern states allow you to run dogs for turkey. Competing with the dog hunters in Virginia was really difficult.
I’ve had coon hunters dogs run some longboards off a roost one time, they flew tree late in the dark about 9:45pm in Oklahoma we got on them about 10:30am the next morning and killed both those birds, I have blood tracking dog and live in a addition I’ve done everything to keep that dog in the yard and fence and she always gets out no matter what I do electric fence and everything sometimes dogs get out depending on the drive of the dog it happens.
@christopherblackmer7476, I didn’t think you could run dogs in the spring though.
I appreciate y’all keeping it real, really enjoyed y’all visiting South Carolina 👍👍
Great video THP!
Patience kills turkeys…. Thank you all so much for what you have taught me!
Best real life content out there!
Mikey in Waukesha 🦃
Thanks for sharing the struggles THP thats unfortunately stuff that happens while hunting. Thanks also for sharing those owls and other wildlife y'all encountered as well as Zachs hilarious entertainment . Keep up the great videos guys!!
Time for a FARM BIRD T SHIRT OLD GOBBLER WITH A SET OF LABS IN IN THE BACKGROUND SHADOW, just can't make this up lmao
I had a great first turkey experience two weeks ago about two miles from Devils Tower but never got a kill. Had my kids so couldn’t go back. Went back this weekend and not a single bird to be found. But the 5 yard distance experience two weeks ago was amazing! You don’t need a kill to have a great time!
Turkey hunting is Type 2 fun more often than not... keep getting after guys
Adversity at its best. Great attitudes gets you through. Thanks for showing all the trials, tribulations for the Turkey!!
Zach won that calling contest
That dog just saw a big foot 😂
Don't feel too bad guys. SC public has been somewhat difficult this year, even down where I'm at in the low country. Multiple of our WMAs down here aren't producing great numbers this season. Gobbling has been very sparse down this way as well. That wind on the 12th was no joke. According to DNR friends, changes are probably coming next season. The highlights of my season thus far have been a coyote with my son on youth day (didn't come into full view for him before it took off), being stalked by a bobcat, and wishing a bearded hen was a Tom. It seems many others are having similar experiences. Hope y'all come back.
I have heard a few gobbles around SC public but been unsuccessful on calling in a tom so far 👍

Somewhat the same. The most I've heard was actually on youth day. The WMA I hunt the most, they are well educated and stop gobbling pretty early each season. However, as things die down through the middle of season they usually pick up a bit for the last week or so. Hopefully, that holds true again this year.
Yeah, hope so 👍
Glad yall came to our neck of the woods though! Solid effort my dudes! I've been hunting the same mountains myself, the struggle is real! I had 2 Gobbler's within 35 yards that 1st Friday of season but got busted lining up the shot 😩
Been hearing good gobbling every hunt but hard to close the gap with so many ridge's!
These struggle videos are some of favs 👍👍
The ole tough sc mountain turkeys
It's the journey, not necessarily where you end up. Great videos, harvest or not!! Love what ya'll are doing 😊
Love the content have learned alot great advise on calling filled my tag in mn keep up the great work.
I’m leaving Wednesday night to spend four days hunting the Shawnee National Forest. Perfect timing for this episode
Keep it up fellas. And goodluck the rest of the season.
ain't many owls there are there? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 have mercy!
Nice video!!! Just putting this out there Virginia is looking good this year!
tough but good huntin' guys! enjoyed it!
Hope to see an Indiana video from you guys this year!! Happy Hunting and Safe Travels
Dang, never had dogs ruin my hunt like that... Not yet anyways. Keep after it!
That's pretty much how my season is going so far this year. Hope your luck changes soon.
Good videos those southern hunts are tough boys I tell you deer turkey whatever it’s tougher than up north or out west
I've been hunting wma lands in s.c for a few year's. It's hard hunting for sure. Plus numbers are way down here. If I traveled to hunt turkey, s.c wouldn't be my first choice. And I live here .
Those owls were fired up!
Bet that was a hen gobbling. I called one in before. She gobbled all the way in.
If yall come to sc next year let me know I might be able to get you somewhere to hunt on Sundays
That yelp/gobble was likely a hen. I've seen that twice in my years of turkey hunting.
You guys ever hunt Shawnee in Ohio? We went this past weekend and they gobbled off the roost but then flew down and shut up. Never heard another gobble all day and we moved 7.8 miles around a ridgetop calling. It was fun regardless! Was wondering if you had any tips for hill country turkeys
Invite to southeast Missouri! Come down show me how it's done there tuff to kill around here
Sc private can hunt on Sunday called one in for my son this morning
Thats the problem behind my house. Neighbor lets 2 dogs run loose quite often. No turkey anywhere and have to judge your deer hunting by sitting outside the night before to make sure you don't hear the dogs barking and running off the deer!! Pain in the neck
Frustrating trip but great content for us viewers! 😂
I have been chased twice this year by peoples dogs and I’m about to the point if it’s gonna be aggressive it’s made the decision for me to!!! I’m over it and it happens in town and out on state land cause people unleash there pets and they’re mean !!!! Well I’m not getting bit doing my legal right as a hunter or forging for mushrooms!!! I walk with my cold steel blowgun now!!! And rust me I’m very accurate within 25m !!!
That was a person with a gobble call. 😂
I am desperately looking for a snippet of content yall put out a while ago. I’m looking for the montage of warb “backing up” Ted and shooting the bird/deer out from under him every time. Can yall please help me with what episode that was???
I'm sure Keith is going to miss his SCunkventures!
That's about how my last two deer seasons went, dang dogs 😡
why do states not allow sunday hunting? it makes 0 sense to me
Tough hunting. High wind is my enemy and you throw rain in the mix and a farm dog and it’s time for a sleep in morning.
Hey Zach, could you give me some info on your gun? Where did you buy the camo stock for it. I presume it's an 870, did you cerakote the barrel and action?
Had it since he n teens old youth model this yr cerakote it had it n a many vid . …. Bought n great state of Ohio
People hunting your spots cause they saw you there is like stealing a fish from the people trying to teach you to catch them yourself
I killed my first turkey on Friday learned so much this year from watching yalls video and hunting public land.
That dogs name is Zack. No wonder he’s so hyper lol
Sometimes it bees like that. Good hunt tho
wrong part of South Carolina
SC birds not easy to kill. Gobbling walking away is my luck.
I just killed my first gobbler on new jersey’s youth day
Zach is a dork.
Carolina redemption video incoming in 2025
Killed a bird using your guys call thanks
Maybe a certain person shouldn't have made some remarks a while back about God. Looks like he is getting his behind handed to him for those remarks. Glad to see him learning a lesson or twenty.
