SORTING TRASH (Garbage Collection in Japan)

Hello!
Since moving to Japan, I've had to learn how to sort my rubbish more thoroughly than I used to in Sydney. Here are some things I've learnt about rubbish collection in the area where I live.

I just moved to Tokyo from the US and I have no idea how garbage works and nobody has helped me when they were supposed to and it's been 3 months and my trash has never once been picked up

Are you supposed to take the plastic rings off the bottles? One person said yes but I see rings on yours
