Do they salt the roads that much in England? My 20 year old car is not that rusty

I wanted to ask the same question. I have the exact same skoda as him and the only rusted piece is the left sill. Maybe it's because of the weather?

Thanks, it looks pretty bad, but I'm slowly renovating the underneath and fixing things. I think the rust has to be due to the state spreading salt on the roads in winter :-/

My Fabia's around the same age in the UK and looks much the same as that, to the point I had to replace the control arms the other month because they were rusted through in one place. Gave me a chance to replace half the other components down there at the same time though, so should keep the MOT man at bay for another few years.

@@Deedumdee my wishbones are bad too, so I'd better check them out now you have said yours had rotted through ;-/

@@HatBoyHarvey Certainly worth a check, they're pretty solid chunks of metal so you're probably okay. I just made the mistake of poking mine with a screwdriver too much and it went through up at the front on top near where it bolts to the frame. Then of course you go shopping and find it's practically cheaper to buy a kit that does both sides and other bits than it is to just replace one and suddenly you've got weeks of lying under a car in your future. Especially if you first try to do the bushings without the proper tool and knacker the first set!

HARVEY VIVE EN LA SAL MISMA...😮
O ES QUE LAVAS EL AUTO CON COCACOLA?...😅
DEFINITIVAMENTE ESE AUTO MERECE UNA PINTURA DE CHASIS PARA PROTEGERLO DE TANTO MAL TRATO DEL ESTADO 😢
    P.D.: ESE CELULAR RECIBIENDO LLAMADAS ... 📵✨️

El auto tiene mal aspecto por debajo, pero poco a poco lo estoy renovando y arreglando cosas. Ni siquiera vivo junto al mar, debe ser la sal del camino invernal :-)

Hello, I recently purchased a 2006 Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI. And today the engine light came on. I don't notice any difference in driving. But I've noticed a bit more smoke from the exhaust than normal. what will be the cause?

    • @HatBoyHarvey
      @HatBoyHarvey  Місяць тому +1

Over rich fueling. Clogged/faulty egr could cause this - starting point that is worth cleaning anyway. I would do a diagnostics check on it which may easily pinpoint to something specifically :-)

Another amazing video, thank you !
    I have a fabia MK 1 with 1.4 v16 55 kw engine.
She has been my a loyal servant for the last three years. Very reliable car.
However, when I bought the car I noticed that at some point after the oil change, maybe for about 5000 km, an 800ml of oil are consumed. Till now I still add some oil due to this oil consumption. Is there any place I can look for how much oil is normal for this engine to consume ?
The car is manifactured in 2005.
Thank you for your time !

That is too much IMHO, this engine suffers from worn piston rings, big job replacing them :-(

      @@HatBoyHarvey Hey Harvey,
Thank you for sharing this with me !
I went to my local car mechanic who has maintained the Skoda since I got it. The cost for the repair will be equal to the initial price of the car I paid three years ago or even more.
I got the Skoda for 2700BGN which is about 1176GBP for reference. Sadly, I will soon have to sell the car. She is amazing by the way, and never let me down durring any of my trips. I will definitely miss her. Thanks for your time, Harvey, and for all of your Skoda videos. You have been a huge help for me.
