OK, I just completed the Trans America Trail on a dual sport bike and spent $700 on this camera with accessories. Do not buy one of these. The side door blew off going down the road somewhere, which I thought would be easily replaced by insta360. Here is what they sent me, "Our camera and accessories recommend that you use it at a speed below 80km/h, there may be safety hazards if you exceed this speed, sorry we cannot replace the USB cover for free." Really, so why do they sell a motorcycle kit if they expect you to not go over 80k or 49mph. Just a heads up that they do not stand behind their product. The cost of the door is not the issue, it is the principle, and they should not market this to those of us who ride. Sorry, I do not like giving negative comments, but I just want to inform others. Also note that I took great care of the camera and it was always mounted on the bars and not the side as they show you can do. Camera was removed and stored in a case every night to make sure I protected the lenses.
Your entire trip recorded with a camera and you sum up the entire experience of filming your massive ride with a do not recommend because a piece flew off and you have to buy a new one? Ffs brother
I just bought one and the amount of stuff you can do on it surprised me no end, The phone app is actually really powerful and very easy to use and the ability to add music, which you can't do on the computer version, makes up for the lower quality video. Big size video files also has a bunch of limits which is frustrating when it comes time to upload onto social media sites too. So i think the phone app is actually Insta360's secret weapon.

Thanks for the information. I'm looking to swap to the one rs from gopro 10. Did a filming session with the 10 today. It turned off after 15 minutes shooting 5.3k 60fps! Stumbled across your channel and have spent all morning watching your Insta360 vids. Really well produced and articulated! What I want to know about the OneX2 and OneRS from a motorcyclists pov, is the 'on the road' practicality of the Insta360 prducts and software. So Im out on a day long or multiday group ride where you want to capture the riding fun. You dont have the ability to stop and set up cameras and shots multiple times throughout the day, re-ride good stretches of road, etc. So the solution might be instead to setup your camera in say the unicorn position off the front of your helmet and record the whole/most of the ride in 360º. Which then takes up a lot of battery life and gigabytes. So practically: could you have a setup on either camera for running an external powerbank? Does the hot show for the Rode GO2 prevent using the USB-c on the mic adaptor? And finally, at the end of the riding day, can you easily scroll through your footage from your SD card, edit a short vid using the app and d/l to your phone for a quick upload to social media etc (before heading home, d/l to your laptop and editting for days)? Maybe this is less motovlogger-ish though...
Awesome content. I am currently using the Go 2 for motovlogging and shooting in different motorcycle angles and it's very lightweight and unnoticeable itself mounted on the helmet chin but want to upgrade for this for more immersive recording. Downside of Go 2 is that you can't really voice audio while riding but the pickup if walking or regular vlogging is superb.
In my opinion voice sound distorted (clipping). Wen you have go pro hero and 360 onex2 or go pro fusion I don’t think you need modular insta 360. But it’s only my opinion. Very good motorcycle channel. 🔥
Hello Moto, I just bought the Insta360 One RS, Twin Edition, also for motovlogging but I have a big problem. The helmet mic which worked perfectly with my current GoPro Hero 7 does not work on the Insta360 One RS (yes, I have the new horizontal mic adapter). I only get a beeping sound. Now I connected a lavalier mic from the Zoom F2 recorder and that works but it is basically constantly peaking. I tried to set it as low as -16 dB to no avail. The same peaking. Which mic did you use and did you notice any peaking? The support from Insta360 refers me to their list of compatible mics but these are not really lavalier mics which fit inside a helmet. Thanks for your help!
Not sure how good it would be for the OneRS, but I've found that a neoprene can coozie works really well as a GoPro Max protector and way quicker to put on and off, than the two screen caps. Though you could just drop the individual modules into it when not on the camera and store that in your bag. Overall the new update looks nice, nothing ground breaking over current. Until a company can make that next step in quality, especially in regards to 360 resolution ill stick with my current Max.
Hey I’m trying to figure out why my external mic is not working.. I also have Insta360 One RS with mic adaptor (purchased at Insta) however my audio does not work… I have two mics I’ve tried - Sony Lavalier little mic and then I tried Joby Wavo Lav Mobile Lavalier mic and still same problem… is their something I’m missing in the settings? Or could it be that my mic adapter is faulty? I’m lost.
Hi Rob! Great video! Would you recommend the X2 over the RS for all the 360 Moto angles of a bike? Other reviews say that the 360 on the RS isn’t as good as the X2 - what are your thoughts? 😊
Great review Rob, looking forward to seeing more from this. I reckon the versatility means it might work as a single camera for motovlogging just by attaching it to the handlebars, sure we lose the helmet cam POV but shooting in 360 and swinging the view round in post gives a very similar effect, and for the most part, we don't watch motovlogs to see people's handlebars. But that brings with it a couple of questions. First off, how close can you mount it to the handlebars, whilst still giving a decent shot of the rider, sure the invisible selfie stick is great, but I'd feel a bit of a prat riding round looking like a unicorn, and I'd probably get pulled over too. Of course that brings up two more questions. If the cam is stuck out on the selfie stick, how do you turn it on and off, does the app work as a remote control? And, again if it's way out there, how do you record your voice? I guess a long mic wire could work, or something Bluetooth I don't know about, or just record separately and add in in post. Hmm, that's three questions, not a couple. Oh well.
Haha thanks man. You can totally ditch the selfie stick and have it just mounted to the clamp and the angle of the rider will still be fine, just less environment. They do have a wireless remote that you can strap to your wrist to start stop, if you have an Apple Watch this app supports that too as a remote. The mic will be tricky, I’d use the rode wireless mic, hook up the receiver to the cold shoe mount on the camera, into the mic adapter, then have the mic inside your helmet to the transmitter. Hope that helps
@@MotoFeelz Rob, you're always the star replying to our dumb questions. Speaking of which... You mentioned the camera has an 80+ minute battery life, I'm wondering what size file you're going to end up with if you shoot for 80 minutes. (It probably says on their website somewhere, but you know the internet, it's far easier to ask you than look myself 😉)
I tried plugging the purple panda mic directly into the 360 adapter and the sound was horrible. What did I do wrong? I fact, the speech commands wouldn't work unless I used the USB- C adapter and plugged it into the C port.
Good review, but man, our experiences with Insta360 products couldn't be more backwards lol. I think I've only used my One R in one of my 130 videos because it's just so unreliable. It's mostly just a fancy expensive paperweight for me. Looks like the mic quality hasn't improved much. Not a product I'm willing to give a second chance to but still enjoyed watching. Cheers brother, ride safe.
Out of all the videos on the new camera, you are the only person who marketed it the right way without a sponsor. I'm now convinced that this is the best choice for a first action camera. Btw why does the footage look bad in your video on both GoPro and insta360 compared to others?
I have tried to find a link to buy individual pieces. I have not been successful and that Denver I want the 1 inch mod I have the one hour and I have the one hour yes but I don’t have the 1 inch mod
The camera is a beast! Just broke my action camera, needed to buy another one. Been thinking which one to buy and, I guess, here comes the answer. Will look into more reviews and hopefully will get it!
Great Video, I think this has made me choose this one over the One X2 because you have the modular Option and the Very Slight updates will surely help a Newbe like me 👍
i was wondering if you can change POV in the 4k module only, either for UA-cam or for instagram stories. And can you use 180 mode like in X2 in 360 module ?
On your reliability claims: I use a insta360 oneX for airsoft footage and it gets bumped around door frames, shot at, shaking violently while running for hours. Only time it stopped recording was when the battery ran out. So the RS is now going to replace my Osmo Action just because I know I can count on it doing its job compared to dji action2 and hero 10
Good in-helmet audio has always been the most difficult part to achieve. You can get good video from a variety of sources now: Insta360, GoPro, DJI, etc. Because audio is so difficult/crappy with action cams, many motovloggers go through the big extra hassle of a dedicated recorder like the Tascam. So how good is the XS audio from an external mic and its little audio adapter? How good is the processing to reduce wind noise and adapt to changing noise environments (AGC)? Is the result close to what you get with a dedicated recorder? Battery. I hear that a larger battery is becoming available, but this requires a larger housing bracket. I don't see these on their store. What do you hear about the availability, price and additional shooting time?
Love the concept but it's the Audio quality for me. IMO the GoPro with a lavalier mic sounds much better than this setup. Would be a great pick up if someone doesn't already have a GoPro but not worth switching over.
I've used it for almost 2 years now and my phone works fine with the vibration damper. Without it my phone camera died after 20 mins of riding. I have the iphone 11 pro

As a Moto vlogger I simply love the 3 level signature on off beep of the Gopro. But since I have chin mounted it on higher speeds the pipes and winds get louder and I simply roll my eyes down the visor to see the display to see if it’s recording.
So the Beeps not a biggie
2.GoPros do have a standard mic/mic+ option but has to be manually set (example for the rode video micro NTG you have to set it to mic+ as it’s a self powered mic)
But if you forget to turn it back to standard for your helmet lapel mic you might as well use Paul mauriats music to replace your clipped audio 😀
3.The media mod is brilliant but such a pain every time to remove a battery the whole housing needs to be dismantled (gopro never listens to us bikers)
3.The weight of the unit is 135 grams against the hero 10s 150gms plus the media mod at 65 gms
I have a modular helmet from caberg and the Hero 10 rig pulls the face unit down all the time and sometimes gives me a neck ache .
4.What I don’t like is their record “on” light. We all know red is a long wavelength light as compared to blue. It’s hard to spot . But again not a biggie in Moto vlogging
Btw what’s the mic inside your helmet?
Though I love the fact that the mic type pops up. But what I love to see is a db meter so I can choose by +/- boost levels
Only seasoned sound engineers will know how much db boost or cut to do with what mic. And when we are riding long distances will simply want to plug n play.
And also is there any swappable Nd filter option?
And yes if you are editing these on FCP Would love to see your work flow
Ride safe

How you finding the RS? This footage and audio through the mic sounds really good
Awesome content.
Yep I’ve used it a few times just to grab content. Such a cool little camera
Very informative vid! Appreciate it
Hey ....m confused between GoPro Hero 10 and insta360 one rs...which should I buy
Did you purchased twin edition? Or 4k edition?
Thanks for your help!
iIs it possible to face the mic adapter down instead of having the mic adapter jack facing upwards?
I tried and it isn’t 👎
@@MotoFeelz thank you, that's kind of sucks 😆 it would look so much cleaner
Not sure how good it would be for the OneRS, but I've found that a neoprene can coozie works really well as a GoPro Max protector and way quicker to put on and off, than the two screen caps. Though you could just drop the individual modules into it when not on the camera and store that in your bag.
Overall the new update looks nice, nothing ground breaking over current. Until a company can make that next step in quality, especially in regards to 360 resolution ill stick with my current Max.
I'll suss that out! Nothing groundbreaking i agree, although i'm new to the whole module thing which i think is such a great idea
I’m seeing more and more videos with the 360 view style video.
That interchangeable lens is pretty cool 😎✌🏼
They're definitely becoming more popular. The whole 'shoot first, point later' vibe is a gamechanger
What cam did you use at 2:28 at your helmet to film?
4:30 What mic are you talking into while riding here?
How does the 360 recording compares to the One X2?
Amazing review.. Thanks for the inputs.
I kinda had a hunch about this secret video. I connected the dots . Your presets are just incredible! Whether GoPro or Insta 360.
Awesome, thank you!
I prefer the x2 just for its simplicity and dedication to 360 video. If you want a 360 camera I’d go the one x2 imo
(It probably says on their website somewhere, but you know the internet, it's far easier to ask you than look myself 😉)
ciao, which microphone do you use in this video, inside helmet?
I tried plugging the purple panda mic directly into the 360 adapter and the sound was horrible. What did I do wrong? I fact, the speech commands wouldn't work unless I used the USB- C adapter and plugged it into the C port.
Can you charge the battery when riding as with the GoPro and a battery pack?
Do you think the stitching is worse than on the One X2?
In 2:16 it looks pretty bad to me...
The unit is slightly deeper than the OneX2, so maybe. I had it on a pretty nasty angle at this point.
Great info. Please do a comparison of One X2 and One RS. Pros and Cons Please?
Thank You.
I shall
@@MotoFeelz and where is it? ;)
I have tried to find a link to buy individual pieces. I have not been successful and that Denver I want the 1 inch mod I have the one hour and I have the one hour yes but I don’t have the 1 inch mod
Thanks Rob!
Pleasure man!
So the RS ALSO does 360? How is that possible with a forward facing lens?
The camera is a beast! Just broke my action camera, needed to buy another one. Been thinking which one to buy and, I guess, here comes the answer. Will look into more reviews and hopefully will get it!
I hope it suits your needs man!
Yewwwww just saw the promo
Great Video, I think this has made me choose this one over the One X2 because you have the modular Option and the Very Slight updates will surely help a Newbe like me 👍
Is it waterproof after attaching the mic adapter?
I'd say highly unlikey
@@MotoFeelz tk u
i was wondering if you can change POV in the 4k module only, either for UA-cam or for instagram stories.
And can you use 180 mode like in X2 in 360 module ?
What a great review
Bro , Whats your all time Motovlogging camera ??
On your reliability claims: I use a insta360 oneX for airsoft footage and it gets bumped around door frames, shot at, shaking violently while running for hours. Only time it stopped recording was when the battery ran out. So the RS is now going to replace my Osmo Action just because I know I can count on it doing its job compared to dji action2 and hero 10
Doesn't surprise me!
Thank you
can we charge while recording video with mic
Always out a cover on the lens before placing it on a hard surface because the lens scratches very easily and once it scratches you’ve had it.
Love the concept but it's the Audio quality for me. IMO the GoPro with a lavalier mic sounds much better than this setup. Would be a great pick up if someone doesn't already have a GoPro but not worth switching over.
Hi there. Is that quad mount for phone is effective? Is that ok for I-phone camera? Not damaging it?
I've used it for almost 2 years now and my phone works fine with the vibration damper. Without it my phone camera died after 20 mins of riding. I have the iphone 11 pro
RS vs X2?
love your videos!!!
Yea that a vid that needs to happen
