Funny you should say that. I finally listened to her whole discography last year and realized with surprise that NO, she NEVER HAS :D I can't think of any other artist with such flawless record!
To me this song isn't about romance. It's about those deep arterial wounds that you think will never, EVER heal. But then they do. It's about paradox and its resolution. It's an epic novel in 5 minutes. ALWAYS takes my breath away.
As someone who feels like they’ve gone through hell and back this song is like my jubilation that there is hope that I can go on and do things and build a house and really what would I do without myself I really don’t know. A very beautiful song indeed and I really do agree with you
@@reneelagrandeur7220 Somewhere I have the VHS of all the videos from this album and interview clips of her discussing the music. I recall her saying that she had the hardest time working on it. She is probably one of the best artists of all time, immensely talented and creative as well she has never shied away from being herself. Queen Kate Bush. I just love how you can see her spiritual journey throughout her albums. Previous albums-particularly The Dreaming and Hounds of Love-dealt with doubt, insecurities, facing and working through inner demons. Urging you to keep going, to know that this world is better for having you in it. You will be able to heal and live a life full of joy and magic and opportunity. This is Kate's only #1 song on the US Billboard Modern Rock Chart. It was #1 in 1989 for 3 weeks. 'Running Up That Hill' is her 5th Top 10 entry in the chart peaking at #2 on August 20, 2022.
Very true. The Modern Rock chart didn't begin until late in 1988. Had it started a decade earlier I suspect she would have had several additional songs chart.
How oftern does an artist come along and offer such artistic and personal integrity. A rare beauty in this world. The optimism and depth of this song make my heart sing. Her genuine sweet spirit makes me melt. Thanks Kate Bush. My mother was a fanatic so have been listening to her for years and so glad that I did.

03:11 One instance of GIlmour's pitch harmonics and my otherwise shitty morning is saved. What a song. Kate is brilliant and Gilmour's guitar sauce just elevates everything to another dimension.
It's hard to have a best bush song, as every one is brilliant in its own way..but this one really resonates with me. I'm bowing to the southerly wind Kate.....
Wow, do I love this video! Epic yet simply beautiful and she looked as if she was having an absolute blast rocking out with the band. Fills and lead by David Gilmour no less! And she included her beloved Dervishes and the Ballerinas. So good. But to Kate, she wasn't even sure what the song was about after recording it. Kate: "This song! This bloody song! It was one of the most difficult to put together, yet the first to be written. I came back to it 18 months later and pieced it together. It doesn't really have a story. It's just me trying to write a song, ha-ha." Only Kate could write a song so magnificent and just chalk it up to a songwriting exercise.
Nice to see Dave Gilmour, Del looking handsome and Paddy too! Kate flipping her lid and rocking out. Deserved far higher than #38 on the UK chart. Her earrings are back in fashion, lots of people seem to be wearing those this year.
I bought this CD the day it was first out. I played it very often back then. I still occasionally dig it out and listen to it, it's great work. But... until this very day, I had NO CLUE that was David Gilmour playing that riff that I always liked. Wow.
Pushing all the buttons; aural, visual and sensual. The pinnacle of the last century's popular music - not to be repeated while humanity still breathes.
Ahhh this is one my favorite songs! I found her on accident, I was gonna type Kate bishop, typed Kate on UA-cam, accidentally click Kate bush, seem interested, and I click running up the hill. This is before I watched stranger things 4 too.

Running Up that Hill: Poignant. Love and Anger: Transcendent.
Lyrics:
It lay buried here, it lay deep inside me
It's so deep I don't think that I can speak about it
It could take me all of my life
But it would only take a moment to
Tell you what I'm feeling
But I don't know if I'm ready yet
You come walking into this room
Like you're walking into my arms
What would I do without you?
Take away the love and the anger
And a little piece of hope holding us together
Looking for a moment that'll never happen
Living in the gap between past and future
Take away the stone and the timber
And a little piece of rope won't hold it together
If you can't tell your sister
If you can't tell a priest
'Cause it's so deep you don't think that you can speak about it
To anyone
And you tell it to your heart?
Can you find it in your heart
To let go of these feelings
Like a bell to a Southerly wind?
We could be like two strings beating
Speaking in sympathy
What would we do without you?
Two strings speak in sympathy
(What would we do without you?)
Take away the love and the anger
And a little piece of hope holding us together
Looking for a moment that'll never happen
Living in the gap between past and future
Take away the stone and the timber
And a little piece of rope won't hold it together
We're building a house of the future together

She's 32yo here and wrote a song that made it to album at 12yo.
@@gbulmer Just about all of the songs (except for 4) off her first two albums were written before she was 15.

One instance of GIlmour's pitch harmonics and my otherwise shitty morning is saved.
What a song. Kate is brilliant and Gilmour's guitar sauce just elevates everything to another dimension.
I'm not in total misery, when I can hear and see beauty such as this.
"Looking for a moment that will never happen, living in the gap between past and future"
My göd this woman is a genius.
Kate j'avais 15 ans en 1985 et suis tombé amoureux dès que je t'ai vu !!!!!!!!! Et je t'aime toujours chère Kate ... Greetings from Belgium .
She is pure gold! Every production of her's is simply so ahead of our time! "And I do mean our time"
It's hard to have a best bush song, as every one is brilliant in its own way..but this one really resonates with me. I'm bowing to the southerly wind Kate.....
She's just the best. This was the song that made me aware of her. (120 Minutes on MTV.) And it's still one of my very favorites.
It's a shame that it has taken me 33 years to discover this brilliant, immensely talented woman
She certainly brings the house down, doesn't she. And she does it with complete grace and beauty.
When the ballet dancers light up behind her as the guitar comes in, amazing. Love to all KB fans x
Love to you 😉
Wow, do I love this video!
It's just me trying to write a song, ha-ha."
Only Kate could write a song so magnificent and just chalk it up to a songwriting exercise.
Not just dave gilmour .. also nick mason and Rick wright.. pink ffloyd are the backing band
Genius musician.
John's bassline in this was fantastic. Just drives so hard in the second half of the song!
So raw, honest, human.
Kate binge.
I'm obsessed! lol!
fcuking awesome! Kate Bush is one of my biggest inspirations!
Amazing Song and...Hey Hey Hey, look who's here, Mr David Gilmour himself!!!
Why can’t I stop watching her?!? love this magnetic voice 😍🤩
TY KB!!!! Powerful groove, melody and lyrics indeed. Love the DG guitar solo too!!!
Nice to see Dave Gilmour, Del looking handsome and Paddy too! Kate flipping her lid and rocking out. Deserved far higher than #38 on the UK chart. Her earrings are back in fashion, lots of people seem to be wearing those this year.
John Giblin on bass not Del
@@historyman1 Isn’t that Del on the Fairlight??
I bought this CD the day it was first out. I played it very often back then. I still occasionally dig it out and listen to it, it's great work.
But... until this very day, I had NO CLUE that was David Gilmour playing that riff that I always liked.
Wow.
... and I bought the vinyl record 😉 (which I still have and often play) ...
