You are spot on. I've noticed this too. I feel the weight of the day lifting off my shoulders when I hear her voice. Lunchtime for me with headphones on - and nobody knows.
To be honest, i don’t think i ever heard Kate Bush before stranger things. After the song Running up that hill (a deal with god) was played. I wanted to learn more. Here I am now, listening to every song of hers, owning vinyls of hers, posters, paintings, watching old documentaries of hers, etc.. I recommend Kate Bush to everyone and anyone and I love her music. Thank you.
I first heard Kate bush on the radio while getting ready to go to school on a rainy morning in 1978, the song, Wuthering Heights... I was beguiled by this strange and beautiful sound coming from the speaker... 46 years later and I'm still enjoying and hearing new things in her collected works, I guess as I age and have had some life experiences the lyrics have more meanings to me. Kate has a great gift and has given us great gifts.
I'm currently going through terrible and painful drug withdrawals after quitting a painkiller I was on for too long. These videos help. Thank you, Kate.
She is a joyful, artistic, crazy, bundle of wonderful. She is a masterpiece. No matter how deep, dark and profound she can go lyrically and musically I've always sensed a child like joy in her music too. An artist who adults and children can both love. I'm amazed she never did a score for a children's series or movie. She once said her music speaks to children too and it is even more obvious here.
She actually did the credit theme for the movie adaptation of "The golden Compass", and you're right, it fits perfectly and she could've done more stuff like that. The song is called "Lyra".
I think of my parents when I hear this. I played the album so many times aged 13 in my bedroom it used to drive them mad. "That one about looking at the big sky, did she run out of lyrics?" Plus they were forever asking me "Hasn't she made it up that wretched hill yet?" Now 30+ years on and I can't believe it, they actually like AND admire Kate Bush. We were estranged for 20 years, I think whenever they heard Kate on the radio she reminded them of the teenage me. I know I will regret those 20 years when they are no longer around.
Oh my sister was the same “Is she still climbing that damn hill? She still has no problems?” And with Cloudbusting “is she still singing about her yoyo every time it rains?” I don’t remember what she thought about Waking the Witch but she was certain Jig of Life made the cat crazy.
Totally! This album is just so well-rounded. It can be big, small, sonically massive or intimate, or progressively getting more intense, I love it. That's in my top 5 favorite albums of all time in fact! The other two artists beating her in my list is Björk and AURORA, which are must-listen artists for sure :)))
Kate has at least four albums in my ten. Hounds for sure, the kick Inside, Never for Ever, Aerial. I would argue for The Red Shoes and Lionheart as well., but that would leave no room for Wish You Were Here, The White Album and Revolver, which have to be there.
Just love how much fun Kate seems to be having. And had forgotten how good this tune is, how upbeat and positive. And my goodness, look at 10 yrs worth of comments, praising Kate and her music - incredible.
I fell in love with Kate Bush 2 months before her song was used on stranger things. I’m not a stranger things fan but at least more people are finally listening to this goddess and her flawless masterpieces ❤
I bloody love this video. This is how music videos should be. Back when they were fun and everyone was enjoying themselves. Love Kate Bush - there should be a 'love' button for this video.
God, there's always one, isn't there? If you ever manage to summon half as much joyous exuberance in your life as there is in this "unprofessional" video... well, you won't, so no need to finish the thought.
@@jompajesus2533- Take a look around her other vids, then ask yourself is it just might have been intended to be that way. I doubt Kate's ever let anything out of her control until she was satisfied with it.
This song needs to be played LOUD! I think it's probably the strongest of the singles on the Hounds of Love album. Played loud, it just builds and builds until, towards the end, it sounds quite demented! The video is a visual feast too but, for me, doesn't quite capture the anarchy of the song. Loud, loud, loud - try it!
I had just started working IT at a Wall Street firm in the early '90s. I had this album on cassette tape. I worked a 4 to midnight shift, so by evening I was in the office by myself, monitoring the server backups and otherwise whiling away the hours. I used to play this whole album loud AF. When this song would come on, I would have to get up from behind my desk and just shake, rattle and roll! In the '80s I had been introduced to punk rock and mosh pits... so sometimes I would just thrash out to this tune, a mosh pit of one!!! Good times... fond memories... 😏😄
Corina Amato This. I think she is so feminine. Expresses herself so organically female, like she hasn’t been brainwashed by society that tends to be more masculine. She’s a proper female role model.
I love how she's wearing heels in an astronaut outfit- one of the reasons why I absolutely love her 💜 she taught me that being different is better than fitting in!
It's banded around to everybody who ISN'T one generally. A lot of this has to do with the major dumbing down of the markets and the stagnation of the human race in general and the advent of social media to prove "everybody" can do "anything" and "everything" and sell themselves like Muckdonna slag sells itself as a product as opposed to art. Therefore, EVERYONE is a genius-cos we musn't offend now!
When I first met my husband, I found out he was a fan of George Harrison, Monty Python, and Kate Bush (as was I). I instantly fell in love with him. That was 30 years ago and still the same love 💕
Been a fan since the 80's, never realized how much fun she's having in this video. Unlike all the others, it seems like she's just cutting loose and being silly and free and silly 's sake
Well tonight is my Kate binge night, again, I have all her albums and LOVE her so much. I'm 61 and first heard of her in maybe 1979. Big Sky is one of my faves!!!!
He's in the video Lily because he's in her film The Line, the cross and the curve. The Lily video is actually just the clip from the film, but you probably already knew that...

They are so small and so is the situation. Remember, there is always a big sky of million new ways, opportunities and posibilities. Thank you, Katie, for reminding me this with this amazing song whenever i need it.

Kate Bush and I grew up together. I have never met her. Was close in Wellington NZ in 1980s. But her music has lived as I have lived my life. I am 65 now and was 20 when I first heard Withering Heights. Go Kate. Go life
I love everything about the Kate Bush of this vintage. Creative, self-assured, intelligent, intuitive, hard working, beautiful, comfortable in her own skin, curious, committed to growing, highly talented and entertaining, original, slightly odd but not unreasonable, sensual but not making her career some kind of arrogant and immodest T&A show, able to listen, kind, nurturing, and uncannily right on the mark with her judgments and actions. She’s one of a kind.
I had Running Up That Hill stuck in my head before it appeared in Stranger Things, but after the new season came out I re-visited the album (I only knew Running Up That Hill and Hounds Of Love) and I found THIS, it's awesome! Also, Waking The Witch is another rare gem. It's a great album for sure.
Though I do love all her works at least as much as you do, I honestly feel the idolization of her as a person is going a little too far at times. She is no goddess! She's so brilliant. Most people don't know she was the one who first popularized the small wireless clip-on microphone on stage.
I knew it 😉
I totally agree.
I don’t think she invented them. I think she pioneered in their use.
Her original headset mic for her 1979 tour was made from a bent coat hanger.
Im 24 I love her music always playing it I watch all the things about her and I'm reading a magazine about her
Love how she goes "tell them sisters" and it's just 3 guys throwing it down
She knows her fanbase 🤪
