We as a democratic nation, need to be pro-constitutional and anti-discriminational, hence very strongly and strictly need to implement secular laws such as UCC.
If you want really to create zero discrimination. India should apply communal secularism which accomodate EVERY religion, ethnolinguistic group and tribal community. Caste should be еrаsеd and people live in their own law. LAICISM and UNIFORMITY should be removed from any Indian legal system and make this country MORE FEDERAL. Using Uniform is impossible when you have many religions and traditions, instead you will make some community feel discriminate. Say NO to ONE NATION, ONE LANGUAGE, ONE CONSTITUTION.

One nation, one constitution, one language will kill Indian diversity and harmony instead of uniting it, since India is a heterogenous country. India needs religious, linguistic, ethnic and tribal secularism that truly represent the federal system. The only thing that should be erased is caste-based stratification. I don't understand with your mindset. People will be quiet if their identity and political right are given. You just increased the probability of partition with your mindset.

This video is misleading. UCC does not intend to interfere in customs. U can marry as per ur rituals/culture. But at the end of the day u have to register ur marriage and get a certificate to make it legitimate and official under law( which has been there always). Similarly, in matters of divorce,inheritance,adoption UCC comes into picture to allow uniformity just like we have for criminal laws. If criminal laws are based on constitutional directives, why not these personal laws? After all divorce, inheritance etc are also human rights issues when dealt in courts and has to be heard from a fair point angle rather than cultural/religious angle.
Thankfully Goa always had the "Uniform civil code" which rest of India doesn't

I am not in support of the NDA government but UCC is what india needs at this stage. Personal matters should not be dictated by outdated religious values but rather rational thinking of the modern society.
one nation one law is also a desirable move. Besides UCC will bring some order to the chaos called diversity in this country. And religious laws I dont think should apply to marriage, divorce division of property or formal schooling. Framers of the constitution may have not forseen the side-effects but I believe everyone who wants to live in this country must follow some rules or leave the country for good.

Interesting point, but I think the problem is that to achieve uniformity, all communities will have to sacrifice some customs which they not be prepared to do. Who sacrifices how much will also be a bone of contention.

@@saptarshi5414 Some communities will have to sacrifice more than the other. So? If the so called "secular" minds are rooting for inter-religious marriages they should also root for UCC. So that the law dictates the important matters and not the religious customs ....... UCC is a just, modern and codified law dictating marriage, adoption, inheritance, divorce etc. It shouldn't be a choice because if its a choice there is always a chance of not following the best practice.

Very naive take on UCC. Its a progressive law which will refine overtime once implemented. If people want to remain in shackles of conservative mindset, they tend to oppose UCC and list out more drawbacks than advantages.

India is a secular country and therefore there should be UCC.
Why not have a federal system like in USA? The are uniform federal laws that apply nationwide in relation to certain areas of law, and other area which are under the sovereignty of individual states, which allows for them to preserve the peculiar demographic characteristics of the state's in a democratic way.
because the us in itself isnt a good example on how to handle diversity it struggles to combat the socio political inequality faced by an immegrant that goes towards the us . look at how bad most of the indian or asian immegrants are treated in the us then we can speak about weither or not to implement said law in india.

UCC and CAA are absolutely necessary to secure the Future of India. Without UCC and CAA we cannot have truly Universal Education, Healthcare, Judiciary, Equal Distribution of Opportunity, Wealth and Power in India. Without UCC and CAA people will just keep arguing and fighting over silly things. Indians should wake up to harsh reality and accept the Truth and Reality, before it's too late.

Marriage and property is personal matter. And religious too. Why should other religions people follow hindu system marriages? It's impossible. If it's about registering the marriage in court that's ok. But we'll do it with our tradition not hindu tradition. And ucc should be one nation one law not one nation one religion.

You could have taken one small example like marriage or succession and explained how the ucc would affect each community. And in case of succession or marriage, what would happen if someone follows his own ways in consent with his family memebers even after ucc is implemented, will he be arrested?
