I'm an ISFP and I studied aikido years ago. For me 'fighting' was completely beside the point, it was about learning how to control your body in a specific way, and how to avoid the other person's attacks and use their own momentum to neutralize them. I didn't stay with it, but I had the most beautiful forward roll technique. If I tried it now, I'd probaby have to go to the hospital. 😆

All that I care about is overcoming my fears, learning more about the most hidden parts of myself and transferring that knowledge to the other areas of my life. INTP here (I identify as a “creative” subtype, some might mistake me for ENTP). I’ve wrestled all my life, spent time in BJJ, and practiced Muay Thai for two years. My time in Muay Thai was amazing and I may go back.
Anyway, I identify more with the trickster archetype, slightly less with technician, with a dash of warrior (Si 3rd). I used to spar with a suspected ESTP every weekend, your descriptions are great. He would beat the shit out of me, and I would occasionally catch him with a sneaky unorthodox kick/trip/etc.
To me, fighting is a puzzle. Whatever style participating in, my goal is generally to set up unorthodox traps for my opponent. Hint; this works very well.

As an INTJ woman in TKD, I love sparring. I'm not sure I would call myself a technician necessarily as I am not exactly aware of thinking through what I'm doing in the moment - mind and body are working in concert. I am aware of seeing openings and having ways to capitalize just materialize in my mind, so maybe that's it. I do definitely identify with the last bit about getting too comfortable. I can jump out to a big lead, particularly in combat sparring, and then I start "trying things". Suddenly, I am on the short end of the score, so I have to guard against losing my edge like that.

    • @DanielByers-qf9qi
      @DanielByers-qf9qi 6 місяців тому +1

The fact that you pursue TKD at all puts you in the minority of women, and correlates with you being an INTJ, the rarest type in women. I think I may have met a fellow INTJ male once or twice in my life - it is difficult to say without getting someone to take the quiz in a competent manner - but I cannot ever remember meeting a woman who seems to me to have been an INTJ. Mostly, I have felt like an alien from another planet since about third grade, never or rarely meeting my own species.

I feel like ISTP's can often times fit in "The Bully" category. Jon Jones and Ronda Rousey, for example. It's interesting how everyone has their own unique style in either striking/grappling/MMA.. As an INTJ, I feel like my style reflects my personality in a way; sometimes I flow like water in a defensive manner, sometimes I'm aggressively offensive, etc.. I always strive to develop creative tactics/strategies that yield a high probability of success. Corey Sandhagen (an INTJ) is a phenomenal fighter one can observe in this modern era; he has a very interesting style.

      Here's 4 answers, depending:
If your inner voice is *helping you make a decision* and _you have an objective reason for it,_ then *Ti* .
Think "This decision makes the most sense to me, based on what I've reasoned out logically".
If your inner voice is *helping you make a decision* and _you haven't an objective reason for it,_ then *Fi* .
Think "This decision feels the most right for me. I'm not saying everyone should do this, just that I'd feel wrong if I made any other choice here".
If your inner voice is *helping you make sense* of something, and _have an objective reason for the conclusion you're drawing_ then *Si* .
Think "What I'm looking at here is like some experience, thing or event that I've seen in the past"
If your inner voice is *helping you make sense* of something, and _you haven't an objective reason for the conclusion you're drawing_ then *Ni* .
Think "I haven't necessarily seen this thing before, but it seems like it's connected to several other things - like there's a few layers to this. I could be wrong, and I don't expect anyone else to believe me without more evidence, but _my gut is telling me I'm right about this"_ .
Source: I'm an INFJ, so _my gut is telling me I'm right about this_ 😂 I think this dovetails with most descriptions of the cognitive functions, though.

I think, generally in life, INTJs are "counter-fighters". I am not usually aggressive, so people think I am weak. If they provoke me too hard and too long, they find out they were wrong. I do not violate my sense of ethicality, but I become strategic and ruthless. Then they "walk softly" around me. While I lean most strongly toward Technician because I see real-life fights like video games and heavily use logic to exploit weaknesses in my foes, I'm probably one of the few INTPs who are partially Brawlers. I took a lot of hits since childhood like bites (ant, cat, dog, and human), burns, electrocutions, freezing, insults, loud sounds, punches, scratches (cat and human), slaps (belts and hands), toxic substances, and even a stab from a pen. As such, thanks to my increased physical durability as well as anger issues, I don't mind rushing in and giving my foe a brutal beatdown.
When I have personal issues against my opponent, I also become the Bully. People normally see me as the type to be courteous and honorable so flipping that 180 degrees with the most scathing remarks I can think of can inflict Weakness Break on my foe for an extra effective Reverse Vaporize.

As a intj I know I’m a thinker but because of my 5w4 wing I’m a artist as well but tbh because I’m very religious and Christian and involve God in Everything I do I know I’m a crusader so I’m a mix of all three but god comes first so for me it’s crusader but secondly thinker and artist

The better strategist tends to win fights, that's what I've observed as a casual INTP combat sports spectator, anybody can KO or get KO'd by anybody else, the contender who computes more effective patterns before and during the fight gets an unfair advantage over the opponent

don't underestimate the trickster element of a wounded INTP.
the difference may be, in the end the defeated aggressor may not know who actually defeated him, or even better, it appears that their own actions brought about their own defeat ... not realizing they kicked over the first domino of a Rube Goldberg Revenge Machine ...
I guess the difference between an ENTP trickster and an INTP trickster, is that an INTP doesn't need recognition. Just seeing a stymied opponent is reward enough.
plus it limits further retribution. a clandestine one uppance is a fun project. a series of back and forth attacks is annoying and boring and each round reduces the value of a victory.

Your description is too kind to INTPs. I think a better description would be the "tinkerer." If it ain't broke, we'll fix it. When doing something that will be judged, my natural implication is to "reinvent the wheel." Even if I've done it before successfully, I want to do it at least slightly differently the second time to incorporate improvement. This strategy produces great results in a fluid environment in which I have time for introspection between bouts to reflect and improve. If either of those requisites are lacking, then INTP's will lose.

As an ESFP I have to fully agree with you, even when I'm playing video games I take so much pleasure in making combat look flawless, impressive, and throwing tricks in to make it look even more visually pleasing lmao, I know it may be sad to mention video games instead of an actual real life sport but I am just a sad teenager so it's the only example I have 🥲
