    This is a game changer, my back and shoulders got so sore from leaning over and trying to cast off. I also kept on dropping stitches. But since learning this, perfection every time. Thank you for your tutorials.

    wow! What an absolute game changer! Every project on my machine I’ve struggled to stitch it together at the ends neatly and Always wondered what people mean when they use waste yarn, well this was the best explanation of waste yarn ever! Thank you for sharing

    Do you think you could make a tutorial on how to remove the waste yarn without sowing the sides together like if youre making a beanie etc?

      You know how many of the tutorials, for closing the end, have you picking one stitch, then choosing one up, then one down? Try just going linearly - the next one to the side, then the next one to the side of that. Don't alternate either side of the starter one.

    I can't recall which video it was, but one of the tutorials I've found for using my Sentro suggested using 2 different colors of scrap yarn. The first is used for five or ten rows, followed by one row of another contrasting color.
    If you make sure the loop at the halfway pin (24 on my 48 pin Sentro) is a bit loose with your second waste yarn, you can grab it and gently pull it out from between your first waste yarn and your project yarn. It's like unzipping it! You can immediately remove the first waste yarn and set it aside to unravel at your leisure. It means dealing with some extra yarn tails, but greatly simplified the waste yarn method for me :)
    I also found a tip for putting a small piece of scrap yarn on pin 48 and 24 (I usually do it on row 5, and 5 from the last row on my project yarn) to help with making sure you halve the tube neatly. It saves on having to count stitches, too, when doing a crochet finish!

      Wow just learning that but of info is a game changer. I am Jane if all trades in art and crocheting and knitting is something I haven’t done since a teenager. But now U have 8 grandchildren and I needed a change from making them jewelry and paintings. So I purchased the sentro for my birthday last Friday, it is so much fun. But I’m a newbie so I love looking at tips tricks and all helpful advice on this machine. Thank you very much. (Excuse the chatter I only get to talk to adults on youtube😂)

    I've had my machine for a week, your tutorials have bern invaluable. I did discover the need for waste yarn at start and finish by trial and error. Rather than use a needle to pick up, i run a 2.5mm circular needle through the cast off stitches under the waste yarn and knit a traditional cast off with a larger needle.

    I was dubious...but the physical PAIN of casting off of this machine is why i've left it in the closet the last year and a half. Last night, I pulled it out, and tried to make a cat ear beanie. i'm proud of what happened, but it wasn't a cat ear beanie, haha, and THIS. THIS THIS THIS VITAL INFORMATION. My back thanks you, love. And I thank you, so so so much, for making these videos

    This was very helpful as it definitely showed me the need for waste yarn as I need to seam together the ends for some projects I’m working on. Can you also explain how to remove the scrap yarn at the end of the project as I’m having a difficult and time consuming time getting that part off. ***Update: I just came across a way to remove your waste yarn easily. You add one more row of waste yarn in a different color after your main waste yarn. When ready to remove, pull the loop {and all of that yarn) from the second color of that one row of waste yarn and the rest drops right off! Game changer. See “Remove waste yarn in less than 5 seconds” You Tube video.

So I'm going to have to get some more yarn for the waste part. Have used the manual hand looms and love the look, but my hands can no longer take the strain of making them that way, thus the Addi.

    Great video! I've started learning about loom knitting and hear about "waste yarn" in some videos but wasn't really able to realize the difference and being a lazyass, I might have started with no waste yarn. Thanks to this video though I find it quite important. Me being lazy won't want the extra effort it would take on the curled up yarn without the waste yarn over even just 5 rounds of waste yarn. The extra cranking would be more worth it compared to the a less pretty finish on the edge without the waste yarn.

    Hi, I am new to machine knitting. I haven't been able to find an answer to a question that I have. Does the waste yarn have to be the same weight as your project yarn? If not, how far off can it be? Like for example, can I use a worsted weight waste yarn for both a DK and bulky project?

      I think a DK and worsted would be fine.. I probably wouldn’t recommended going any bigger than that tough ❤️

    thank you! does your waste yarn need to match the ply of the main yarn?

      That is my question also. But looking closely at the purple waste yarn, it seems a little finer that the first 2. For example a #3 weight for the waste and a #4 weight for the project (although I've found that Lion brand pound of love is rated as a #4 but is thinner than a Caron #4) I'm thinking that I'll just do a practice short piece and see what works. But any way you look at it, by reusing the waste yarn, the cost for it could be minimal...

    I'm new to the knitting machine world and I'm finding your video's brilliant in teaching me. But I've gone into panic mode on the joining of the ends on this one as I don't crochet. I've been a knitter for years but I've been able to crochet. And you went so quick I couldn't see what I had to try and do. Or is there a way as a knitter I can do it?

    Hi there, How do you knit a blanket using the knitting machine

      You would knit it in panels and stitch them together.

      It can! Usually it’s caused by a tension issue or temperamental yarn. I recommend trying different yarns to find what works best. I find DK/ 8 ply works best for me 😊

    Is there a way to do this when knitting a panel on the machine?

    Hello, is it possible to increase and decrease in Sentro Knitting Machine?

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  2 роки тому

      Potentially yes! But I believe it would only be possible in the panel method and at the beginning and end of the row. I haven’t tried it so I’m not 100% sure how it’s done but I assume you would just cast on/off 1 or 2 stitches at a time at the beginning and end of the row 🙂

    If I don’t know how to crochet, could I join my project with a needle instead of a hook? Would it work the same way?

    Hi. I have watched your videos multiple times. I'm 70 years, I act younger 😊, but I have just started and of course my first project is beanie. I am still having a problem at the end. I can sew the top together, but the bottom, oh my gosh! I don't want to think I am too old to learn. Would you please help?
    A little about myself, I'm married, have 3 grown children grandmother of 5 and I have 3 fur babies... And I live in Jackson, MS, USA
    Thank you in advance

    Would waste yarn help reduce the curling that happens with a flat panel?

    I am just getting used to using waste yarn and had a question...how do you remove the waste yarn if it ends up on the inside of your project? One of the yarns I use is fuzzy, so I keep that side out which makes the waste yarn end up inside after I close the ends up.

    I'm curious if waste yarn means the same thing as scrap yarn. In the U.S. I hear scrap yarn, but not the term waste yarn.

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  2 роки тому

      In my experience waste yarn is a term used specifically for the knitting machine. Scrap yarn can be used as waste yarn if that’s makes sense? 🤣

      @@Katieree it does. Thanks. After watching several knitting machine videos (trying to decide if I want to buy one!) I figured out what waste yarn is all about.

    How would you use waste yarn for something like a beanie where you wouldn't stitch the ends together on one side?

    • @Katieree
      @Katieree  3 роки тому

      You would just go through each stitch with a crochet hook or needle to secure it. Or you could make a double layered beanie like this one 😊- ua-cam.com/video/CP-CS2_KQc0/v-deo.html
