Read Xiaomi founder, Lei Jun last mission was to build the best EV car at an affordable price for all to enjoy. Seems he dedicated many hours to achieve this vision at the cost of his health. Congrats for achieving such a milestone in only three years!. What Lei Jun did was incredible and I hope he can now enjoy the fruit of his labours.
I am impressed with the efforts of Xiaomi bringing out a good looking car at affordable price this will be a hit. I am from Germany and I will buy this one as it is available in Germany.
Wow!!!! This car looks amazing, Xiaomi did achieve the impossible. Tim Cook probably had a preview of this car and immediately stopped Apple's car development. Great job, Xiaomi!!
I think one thing many in the U.s. didn’t get is how Chinese companies get where they are today. Simple - efforts. The U.S. has serious problems as the left turn it into anti-intellectualism. It’s laughable colleagues consider students and parents investment in academics a negative factor!!! So stupid that I have serious doubt how the U.S. can compete with China if China can have political reform to free its scholars .
What Apple couldn't achieve, Xiaomi accomplished! The issue with Apple's approach to building an electric car, I believe, lies in their perfectionism. They aimed for unparalleled innovation and self-developed technologies, setting the bar extremely high. In contrast, Xiaomi took a more pragmatic route, incorporating familiar technology like integrating an iPad into their car's system. This highlights a distinct management philosophy and an openness to blending existing tech with new innovations. My experience with Xiaomi's products, including their smartphones, has been positive. While not flawless, I've witnessed a consistent improvement in quality across their range. Moreover, Xiaomi has refined its pricing strategy over the years. Their products defy simple categorization as "cheap"; they boast striking designs, vibrant colors, and precise functionalities, without being burdened by unnecessary features that could delay product launches.
I have been an ardent fan of Xiaomi for the last 10 years. Their phones are top notch for a fraction of price of other brands. I still use their Phone, Router, TV, Sound bar and am impressed with their quality. I am in love with their first car. Sadly i wouldn't be able to afford one any time soon. Hope they start manufacturing in India soon and launch smaller and affordable models.
I’m sorry but this is beyond amazing, legacy genuinely does nothing for my anymore . This is exactly why geopolitics gets in the way, the west can’t stand the success China is making

Everything works top notch for after 2 years and they are so much cheaper than other ecosystems like alexa or apple or whatever. Also I had used at least 4 versions of Xiaomi phones before, So I felt bizarre about why people said xiaomi products are cheap and easily broken after just a short time. Once I get rid of my current ICE car I am getting this SU7 Max!

Hard to believe that Xiaomi started their EV ambition only 3 years ago, and now they have this gorgeous car. If this is a sign of things to come, This company will be unstoppable in whatever they decide to do.
I am really impressed by the software integration AND THOSE BUTTONS I will only consider an electric car that has physical buttons or at least gives me the options for physical buttons Kudos to Xiaomi for being so forward in thinking 👍🏼
Would love to know what this buttonless car is that everyone has their panties twisted over, cuz I don’t know of any. People point to Tesla about this as though it doesn’t have contextual scroll-wheel buttons on the steering wheel that operate all the essential functions, plus voice commands as an alternative. I guess you just want redundant buttons?
I have bought xiaomi products for my home and I love them, for the most part... For us, in the western part of the world (EU here), the integration is a bit cumbersome and the cloud servers availability and response time varies, with occasional downtimes, so it's not ideal. I'm sure that in China it's a different story and their products are much more refined and diverse. I can say I'm pleasantly surprised by their first car and I don't find the resemblance to Porsche that striking or even bad. Nothing wrong with aspiring to be as good as one of the best out there. I learned to respect their products and their efforts of going global in such competitive markets and with such diversity of products. Their products have some things in common though, which people tend to not get when firstly coming into contact with xiaomi: they all have a good design and build quality and they all are very competitive priced + they are pretty well integrated, with the aforementioned downsides in the western markets. When it comes to the car, it will probably be much more expensive in EU and NA, unless they come into these markets with local production too, to escape import taxes. We, as customers, can only hope for the competition to grow and the prices to go down. Good job on the review btw.
Given the latency of cloud servers, I assume you're using Xiaomi's suite of smart home products. In light of the latency from cloud servers, you might consider purchasing a Bluetooth smart gateway, which would effectively address the localization issue. Recently, I acquired Xiaomi's latest release, the Wi-Fi 7 router BE6500 Pro.This product is equipped with a built-in Bluetooth central gateway, boasting powerful performance.I hope this content is helpful to you.
There is a 10% import tax for selling Chinese cars into the EU. Producing locally and getting all the material sourced here probably costs just as much. BYD and the other manufacturers currently already on the European market are demanding the same prices as European manufacturers to not establish the image of a second tier option. But the cars just aren't on the same level yet. So they either have to lower prices, or they will keep their sold cars here significantly below the 1% level.
First timer here. I don’t know anything about this car and will likely not see it in the US but your presentation is one of best I have seen. Subscribed.
Who thaught Xiaomi could pull this challenge up of being from a smartphone manufacturing brand to making cars. Kudos to Xiaomi, they also nailed the pricing.

I have bought some 6 or 7 Xiaomi phones (and a tablet) and very pleased with the value and quality. This EV appears to embody Xiaomi's vision to the fullest. Really hope to see it hit UK's roads.
I've bought lots of different xiaomi products in the last 10 years and I've been extremely happy with most of them. The price to performance ratio is unbeatable.
Xiaomi makes or sells ridiculously wide range of things. they are not all super fancy, but they are absolutely best or at least better ones in their price range.
TBH this is a beautiful car despite the fact that it is inspired from the design of Porsche but if we look at it from the business perspective I would definitely buy it if it is reliable and it is very much cost effective.
It's incredible how Chinese EV market bring so much excitement in the global car industry. Time will tell which legacy carmakers will survive this storm.
We all know US will use 'security risk' to protect US carmakers. US even listed CATL batteries as security risk bcos US companies cant produce better batteries at acceptable cost for their military
Wow, first-time viewer. I really like your no nonsense but thorough review style. Subscribed. Living in Thailand, I expect to see this vehicle enter the market sooner rather than later.
Xiaomi has done a fabulous job designing such a nice-looking car, reminds me of the Porsche 911 from each angle. The interiors too are very nice and provide a sporty look.
I love it. I agree with the opinion - there is no need to imitate Porsche at all - Chinese EV are selling because of the quality and feature nowadays. Having other car's look actually push some customers away. Keep going Xiaomi and Chinese OEMs.
If we consider the concept that elephants, if capable of drawing, would depict their gods resembling elephants, it follows logically that design is often influenced by familiar shapes and forms. Similarly, in the realm of aerodynamic sedan design, there are limited options for achieving optimal functionality. Consequently, it's inevitable that modern cars, particularly electric ones within this category, will converge towards a similar design. This convergence is not indicative of mere imitation but rather reflects the rational pursuit of efficiency and aerodynamics, establishing it as a convergence design rather than a mere copycat phenomenon.
Partially disagree. Take a look at the Xiaopeng X9, it doesn't feature traditional streamlined design but still maintains a low drag coefficient. Xiaomi excels in details but has been somewhat lazy in major design aspects. Hopefully, the next generation of products can be more original.
Here in Australia I have the Xiaomi (Ninebot Segway badged) Max e-scooter, xiaomi bathroom smart scales, a few xiaomi smart lights, their electric s1 pump, the mini vacuum i use for repair bench duties... they're all really good quality products. I'd definitely consider a car from them.
My first. time here. Great review. The future of auto manufacturing is called....China. What I love about Chinese cars is how the designers are free of convention and because of that they can create real beauty in the most mundane of component. Spinning speedometers for example.
The smartphone screen mirror intergration is clever. I often listen to UA-cam podcasts in my Tesla, but have to touch the iPhone to start a podcast. This is illegal in Australia. If I could mirror my iPhone on the Tesla screen, job done. What is the chance Elon would allow an Apple integration such as that? Probably zero.
Staggering! I didn't know Xiaomi is this far along getting into the car manufacturing market. I agree they should've put some design originality into the the body. Xiaomi probably think they have a better chance of making a splash with a Porsche Taycan lookalike. Hopefully, their confidence will come in subsequent models. But considering makers like LiAuto, NIO have been making cars for 3-4 years, and this is Xiaomi's 1st attempt, it is really commendable.
I've been using Xiaomi phones for 6 years now, but I admit I was completely skeptical of this car even a year ago, knowing the struggle of other car makers with getting EVs to market properly. Amazing, hard to believe. Also, you seem like a good car reviewer and your English speech is excellent
That mounting point is genius, and the phone integration is amazing. Truly xiaomi doing a very good job as a first timer, the only minor thing that I didn't really like is the Mi logo and the rim design.
Thanks to the supply chain of EV in China, everything is possible. Apple should seriously consider locating their production plant in China and work with a Chinese ODM or OEM company to launch the first Apple car. Byd is a good potential partner. maybe in the EV segment. The future of EVs is still uncertain in my eyes. In fact there have been some trends of going back to combustion engines and the development of alternative, cleaner fuels. Let's not forget how electricity is made in most parts of the world.

I agree. This is the correct interpretation. Porsche-inspired car with a consistent Xiaomi-identity.

So stupid that I have serious doubt how the U.S. can compete with China if China can have political reform to free its scholars .

I love the way how the reviewer describes the car. Very eloquent words.
Apple want to design but another company to produce. The question is, who wants to build a factory only to produce for another company?

I still use their Phone, Router, TV, Sound bar and am impressed with their quality. I am in love with their first car. Sadly i wouldn't be able to afford one any time soon. Hope they start manufacturing in India soon and launch smaller and affordable models.

Few years ago I started to test and lightly used xiaomi ecosystem for a period of 3 years, some lights and speakers and such. because of the good experience 2 years ago i implemented my whole apartment with xiaomi appliances. 3 xiaomi speaker for voice command, 1 bluetooth hub, at least 50-60 smart lights of various kinds, 3 air conditioner, air purifier, a washing machine with drying capabilities, curtain control, an 86” tv, even smart toilets.
Yes smart home is ANOTHER sector Apple created and stirred the market and stalled. Xiaomi took it seriously and has built a full ecosystem. 😂

Subscribed.

This convergence is not indicative of mere imitation but rather reflects the rational pursuit of efficiency and aerodynamics, establishing it as a convergence design rather than a mere copycat phenomenon.
for overall shape, yes. but details such as headlights, taillights, front grille etc. can be original.
Partially disagree. Take a look at the Xiaopeng X9, it doesn't feature traditional streamlined design but still maintains a low drag coefficient. Xiaomi excels in details but has been somewhat lazy in major design aspects. Hopefully, the next generation of products can be more original.
