    Electronically adjustable wheel position allows different driver profiles to have their own settings which is very convenient, you probably only set it once so it's not much of a compromise .... unless you are a car reviewer when you need to do it on every car.

      It is a very good looking design, but the headlight lens on the corners becomes the bumpers during parallel parking. Car design today is basically designed to need body work guaranteed. The Model Y back hatch lid is flush with the bumper, so bumping into something means the hatch needs replacing too. It's really dumb.

      Also, in most chinese cars, they have really good voice assistants. Think of them like Siri or Google Assistant, as they're more than just voice controls, but can perform more complex tasks. Add that onto the price and you’re probably looking at mid-40s in the UK or similar price to a good model 3. They could also cut costs by moving manufacturing to Europe but they need volume for that. @CampGareth 7 місяців тому

      There are limits to the phone-as-infotainment thing. Phones must fit in a pocket and even foldables top out at ~8 inches while car displays are 10-15. So a tablet then? But the mount must be rock solid, it cannot move while being prodded or going down a cobbled street. There's integration too, if a car has a HUD that can display GPS directions usually that's only if you use the built in satnav not your phone.
      I think phone-as-infotainment makes sense in low end vehicles like a Dacia Spring but not high end ones.

    • @theelectricmonk3909
      @theelectricmonk3909 7 місяців тому

      @@CampGareth Eh, no - you plug your phone into the car, and the car uses the phone as a source of data. My MG4 does that - it doesn't have its own satnav, so I plug my phone in & get Google maps satnav (just like on my phone, only on the car screen). It also automagically handles incoming voice calls (video calls confuse the crap out of it though!)... so whilst it's far from perfect, it does work quite well; and as long as Android Auto (or Apple Car Play) keep being updated, I guess the capabilities of the link will continue to improve too.
      Where it's limited is if your phone is a bit shit (and mine's a Xiaomi phone - albeit an older one that's seen a couple of years of use), sometimes it can take a good couple of minutes for the satnav to come up. The other thing I find a tad annoying is only one of the two front USB ports supports Android Auto (and it's not the USB3 port), and anyway why can't it do everything wirelessly? I should be able to plonk my phone down on an inductive charging pad & have all the Android Auto functions available via Wifi... ah, maybe one day.

    hard to believe China did all recent compelling EVs in just four or three years (i mean 2020, you don't hear about Chinese cars except the cheapest EV the Wuling mini EV). I think the earliest I've heard about good Chinese EVs in 2021 when Munro said Chinese cars are amazing. Shortly after few months, BYD released good cars and I was skeptical with those decently looking cars.

    Worth pointing out that if its £32,600ish then import tax in the UK will run you 10% and VAT another 20%, so the on the road price for a private buyer would be £43k.... I'll assume the dealer markup here is similar to the cut the Chinese dealers would be getting if they're flogging it for RMB300,000.

    In general it looks amazing! Most of the specs seem to be great - the 0,195 Cd is excellent! Low drag means more range from any given battery pack - and this is where many EV designs are lagging. The exception for me is the trunk/boot opening - it *should* be a hatch/lift back!
