Having experienced shockingly bad pre sales service from Jaguar, I dropped my first choice Jaguar FPace and bought a BMW X3 where the service was in a different league. If I’m spending upwards of £60k on a car, I don’t want to be treated like I’m disturbing their day.

Germans do tech really well, but they're plain garbage when it comes to reliability - especially when they cut costs, as is the case with Volkswagen. Asians on the other hand completely blow Germans out of the water in terms of reliability even though the tech may not always be incredible. Sincerely, a BMW owner.

Thankfully I've had the chance to ride in a Mercedes, Audi, BMW and Jag. The Jag's are no better, and no worse than the German competition on most metrics. However I do like Jag's styling and design much better than the German rivals. The only real drawback is that Jag needs to bring back the manual transmission. Thanks.

@@JC130676 from 2008 on BIG YES, still I own a 2006 and just the regular issues than any other car and as long as you keep your maintenance they do just fine. And, I dare you to find another car from that time (2006) that still can smell the leather seats like from the time they were made.
@@luisalfonsoalba9730 That's easy, just get any Lexus. As for smelling the leather seats I'll give you a tip: Gliptone leather cleaner & conditioner. My car has white leather seats so as you can imagine it requires a fair bit of maintenance. I've used over a dozen different leather maintenance products but Gliptone is the best by far. You first gently massage the cleaner into the leather, give it a couple of minutes to do its job and then wipe off with a damp towel. Repeat as often as necessary. Once the leather is dry again you very sparingly apply the conditioner with a soft towel or brush. Once that's done you enjoy the luxury of supple leather and that lovely smell.

I went to school in Tucson Arizona and worked couple of years in Phoenix and for sure cars take a beating with the dry hot desert weather. Now I am retired in Germany and no problem with cracking dash board like Arizona. As mentioned, so far mine is in top condition and no need for additional maintenance than the normal cleaning. Also, it is a two people car of others at home and no kids and not used much. For the age of this car the kms are low and I think it is also a factor of many.

I'm not a big fan of modern German cars because of their reliability issues, but definitely Jaguar has no right to make fun of them. One of my neighbors had a Jaguar which was only 1 year old with very little mileage, and within a few months he had to replace the fuel tank float twice; I can't think of any other car (not even a Chinese one) to have this issue in such a short period of time. Let alone the number of times we come across Jaguars on the side of the road with their hoods open waiting for help or recovery.

Jaguars do lose value. but I say with some professional expertise, Jaguar makes more reliable cars than any other European brand. Ford did an excellent job with them. The smaller Audis are excellent as well but the Jaguars are my favorite especially the XJ8 and XK. The XType and SType
might be drab but they simply do not die. Where are the 20 year old German cars now? In scrapyards or in a shop with a monstrous bill.
