You dont need to crack the throttle when cold, that will bypass the choke circuit. Only crack throttle when warm. Notice how it started when you didnt pull back.
That bike was $2,300 new, what I paid off a dealer floor. It was the first year the prices started shooting up, and really not much more advancement. The 1986 production rule from the FIM did that. My 88 CR250 costs $3,200. I think in 85 they were about $1,700. It was the beginning of a kid not being able to afford his own bike, and the market share today is only about 1/10th of what it was in the late 70's and early 80's. Yep---all the places we rode and practiced, are all grown in. Funny how the younger generations today think the sport is doing great. But the MXGP FIM world championship races have about 15 racers on a 40 racer gate today.
Completely agree! But where do we start that that conversation with the society of butthurt snowflakes? It’s always “somebody else’s fault” or “progress😳”. Used to be plenty of places to ride, not nowadays.
A 250 2 stroke motocross bike would have a similar power output to today's 450 4 strokes so I'm not surprised it trounced your DR 350 , they were a decent reliable plodder but definitely no missile ! I raced the 87 YZ 250 and yes those YZ's were fast and reliable.
Not the 1986s, they have more torque than a newer one though. I’d say they are close to 40. I have a 1985 yz250 and it’s bored over 0.60 and it is extremely fast and the front end pops up in just about every gear. I haven’t rode a newer yz250 so I don’t know the difference but I’d say they are close.

Nice video (y). But hehe, what what the rumour all about that ''Two strokes starts easier then four strokes''?? That bike right there in the video.. is a biatch!
SWeMX my 86 yz250 starts up first or 2nd kick everytime. This dude needs to stop giving it gas every time he kicks it over. Real good way to flood the engine

Also the 86/87 motor floor easily if fuel is left on for 5mins basically
Jesus stop giving it gas! Choke and no gas!
Science dammit, yeah.🤦♂️

The '86 250 would fly! I bought one from a friend when it came available after riding with him and I COULD NOT leave him behind on my DR350. 🤣👍

dont give it trottle when you kick it, do it right after it started
Those bikes were always cold-hearted c*nts. But the start was worth the reward
Make choking carburetor great again.
Look like me trying to kick mine over hahaha. Can't wait till my rebuild is done soon.
Same!! working on mine now... It will be for sale, when I'm done... contact me with offers California
No gass when you are kicking
Super nice bike!!!
Why’s he throttling it when they have a choke 😂 tdc choke on should start in 2-3 kicks max looks low on compression
Oh memories
The old mad helmet toss😂
Why you giving it gas when you kick you all ready tip the bike on its side then put the choke on
