Losing Garcia/McCullers/Urquidy was tough. Playing with no Altuve+Yordan was devastating but we made it to the ALCS again.
Pitching wasn’t there like it was last year. Montero/Stanek weren’t there like last year, Tucker/Peña weren’t there in the postseason…
Valdez/Javier weren’t dependable like last year.
Gotta tip the cap to Texas.
They outplayed us.
Wasn’t our year. We’ll be in another ALCS next season, no doubt. Tough loss.
Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez or Nolan Ryan couldn't of won this year w/ Astros in dat cursed ballpark!!🤔🙄
But we were in fear of you guys. We hate you but we fear ya. Good series man.
@@thatONEmachineYou should fear losing another WS, because that’s what’s gonna happen!
You also said the Trashstros would win. They didn't. Wanna keep being wrong?@@JBullock54
@JBullock54 🤣 sheesh you mad bro??
Dusty Baker is a class act and Champion, was an Astros fan until the Rangers came to Texas ever since I'm a Ranger fan. That said, if the Rangers aren't in the Playoffs then I always cheer for the Astros.
I love the honesty from Dusty. And appreciate that he talks very calm and eloquently regardless of if he wins or loses. Major respect
As an Astros fan, congrats to the Rangers. Ill be ridin with the Rangers during the WS. Make Texas proud!
Rangers fan. Baker is such an icon and I think we likely saw him manage his last game last night. Respect for his legend.
Lifetime Rangers fan, but I love Dusty Baker, as a player and a coach. Such a class act. And Y Alvarez, WHAT A BEAST!
after rewatching the game as a rangers fan, bochy fucking blew the game for the astros. why tf would u bring in jp france in a close game? ok fine, u bring him in, but u still let him get scored 4 runs on....LOL. i can see why astros fans were waiting for him to leave...he made some horrendous bullpen decisions this last game
Exactly. You bring in the closer If need be, that was the season on the line. Dusty treating it like a game in June
Bochy truly outmanaged Dusty. Rangers are very fortunate to have Bochy as their manager. Best of luck in the WS!
rangers didn't have the use of trash cans and still won
Astros fans are so ungrateful when it comes to Dusty Baker. The man took the Astros to the WS multiple times, that’s more than most managers can say about their careers. A lot of Astros fan forgotten just how bad the team was in the late 2000’s through the early 2010’s. Fans have been spoiled with a lot of *recent* success and they flip out when they don’t win the WS.
How the Astros were 10-15 years ago is irrelevant--he inherited an excellent team when he got here. The team was fantastic last year, with one of the best pitching staffs Iv'e seen in watching baseball for 60 years. I don't think Dusty could have pushed any wrong buttons last year. But this year he could and he did. And his greatest sin was not being able to figure out the serious problem--not chance or coincidence-- the Astros suddenly had at home ALL YEAR LONG.
I love Dusty's answer. "Why did we pitch to Garcia? ...Why did they pitch to Yordan?" I hate intentional walks. You dont want to get to a point where fans are cheating of watching the best players in the game get to perform in high leverage spots in the playoffs.
Dusty has been hard-headed regarding Maldy vs Diaz and its hurt tye team all season. The players were able to overcome Dusty's shortcomings until this season. The game has passed him by, its time for a younger more analytical minded manager.
Nooooo. Has Bruce Bochy not proved that that is a stupid approach? Moneyball and Harvard grads don't win World Series'
Are you telling me that the game passed him by, what happened to the younger managers who were home looking at the play offs. Injuries had a lot to do with this team.
Exactly. I'd take Dusty any day over some young analytical goof. @@tonyrebel63
Analytics isn't end all be all look at the other dugout. Bochy isn't a spring chicken either and that's just Baseball you win some you lose some.
Why what's the deal with maldy vs Diaz?
respect for the team despite my personal feelings they won 2 WS in 6 years, played in 2 more and came within a game of going back this year. love them or hate them or feel indifferent, They are THAT TEAM
😂
They won ONE WS, let's keep it real.
Yeah that team that cheated 😂 weenie Ass boy
@@InorikoKenmochiand who knows if it eventually comes out they still kept cheating sometimes in different ways
..btw - apparently it came out LeClerc was accidentally tipping his pitches, and the Astros caught on .. of course lol
The Astros are just nothing but a bunch of cheaters and this is why they deserve to lose. Reap what you sow!
Good man, lots of respect for Dusty - Baltimore fan.
From game 5 I knew , you needed to change that lineup , tucker wasn’t hitting , pena wasn’t hitting and my god dude get rid of Maldonado he was good but move on , you had yainer Diaz sitting on the bench after he got a crucial hit on game 5 way better than maldonado offensively, you had bench players with good power ridding the bench , and that’s what you get hope you make better decisions in the future
I hope he never gets to make any baseball decisions in the future
Baker is the worst manager that hasn't ran the Angels lately when it comes to game time decisions. He needs to retire.
One SF Giants Legend Coach beat by another SF Giants legend coach. Hats off to both of them!

We’re down but we’re not out… Dusty don’t you know how this works….yes, you are out!
He’s not talking about the season… It clearly went over your head
Lmao he can’t take the L
Even though I hate the Astros and Houston. I really respect Dusty he's a solid manager and class act kind of guy. Much respect to him 👍🏻 He's very humble and respects the game and understands you can't win them all. At least he isn't bitter or salty or mean about it.
He is. I agree. But he didn't show it the other night when he held the game up for an extra 20 minutes.
@@thatONEmachine Very true but a lot of managers lose their cool at some point. Happens in all organizations I think man.
Yeah but they don't hold the game up like that. He is baseball man through and through and he knew what he was doing...cooling down the closer...@@stephenresponts2935
And to his credit....it worked.@@stephenresponts2935
@@thatONEmachine How could you blame him when it wasn’t intentional?
The biggest error dusty made was taking out hunter brown. Leave him go as long as he was dealing. I mean the guy was a starter in the regular season. Bringing in JP France was totally unnecessary. What a foolish move and he just let it keep snowballing. What a pathetic mgr. Flush analytics down the toilet along with your toothpicks
The road team won every game in this series which I imagine is highly unusual.
The Astros we're not a good home team this season ,neither were the Rangers

I like Dusty He handles himself in a very respectful manner he seems like a very cool guy but thanks to him the Astros have had a hell of a time. Let the other Texas team enjoy it this year Rangers need to have a year this year.
Oh yeah. He handled himself so well the other night refusing to leave the dugout. And the MLB is investigating him. But yeah, he handles himself well.
It was really hard to listen to Dusty making excuses about injuries and young players. Bruce Bochy lead the Rangers to a WS without deGrom, 50% of Scherzer, an unreliable bullpen, and other injuries to their team. Bochy played 3 rookies in his lineup that produced at a high level, one of them was called up on Sept 8th and batted 3rd in their lineup. Their catcher was an All-Star rookie. While Altuve and Alvarez were out, he was busy benching players like McCormick and Diaz, two of the best players on the team, top 20 OPS in baseball. He was starting players like Corey Julks and other players ahead of them. Corey Julks was in an 0-46 slump when he was finally optioned down to the minors. But Dusty was still playing him. JP France actually performed better than Garcia did last season. He was at one point the most reliable pitcher the Astros had. The Astros had the best ERA in baseball even in June. But he mismanaged the offense that wasnt giving pitchers run support and it lead to overworking the pitching staff. Dusty had resources that were available to him that he never maximized and that was the difference between the two managers in this series. All of it would eventually get exposed in the postseason where all they face is better teams, especially in the ALCS and beyond. Dusty and no other manager could ever get away with benching the best players on the team and playing inferior ones over them. What Dusty did was that he built the entire season around Maldonado and the team went down with him. He and Maldonado need to go. The organization has always advocated for player development and Dusty revealed his opinion of what he thinks of young players. It clashes with the philosophy of player development that the organization has had. A team with a good mix of veterans and rookies is great. Dusty doesn't think so. And if he called JP France and Hunter Brown young players, why were they put out there in a decisive game 7 to try to protect a 2 run lead against one of the best offenses in baseball? It only shows his inability to manage and maximize the potential of young players. It shows his inability to put them in the best position to succeed. The most compelling thing here is that the FO told Baker that they wanted Chas to start in CF and Diaz to catch. This was a season long request that Dusty continued to ignore in the postseason. He focused on trying to prove the organization wrong in spite of team results and he lost. And he actually said that Yainer, the city, and THE ORGANIZATION would thank him later for the way he handled him. No one will thank him for it for sure. It’s time for him and Maldonado to go. On to next season.
3rd Base was allstar Rookie, Jonah not a rookie, but I hear ya

😂 you obviously are one of the spoiled that dusty just refers to. This series lost wasn’t his fault , that ranger team is just a more hungry team and overall more talented. If you look at what they did and overcame to get to the World Series is a story in itself. Wild card team that is undefeated on the road and is now going to play and Host the World Series!! You should be very thankful and proud of what your team has provided Houston for the last several years. Honestly you should pray Dusty doesn’t hang it up.
Were you a fan of the Astros when they were the laughingstock of the league or are you a bandwagon fan?
He’s a legend. Sad to see him go out like this though. As a Rangers fan I am well accustomed to heartbreak so I empathize and this is hard to watch because he’s a genius manager and a great guy. But, Houston, you guys have been great for so long. Let’s not let bad blood come between us. Let the Rangers get just one WS. We need it so badly.
What a amazing series. Definitely a memorable one. It’s been a long time coming. Dusty definitely a class act. Enjoy your retirement. I’ll definitely clap 👏 when I hear your name called into the Baseball HOF. On to the next! #RangerNation
Handed lol. It went to game 7. With that in mind. Astros had 1 game to win and didn’t get it done. Next yr will be even better. As for the Astros they have 5 players hitting the free agency. End of 2024 Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman gone, hitting free agency. Plus losing the skip to retirement. Astros traded there best 2 top prospects for Verlander. Astros won’t be the same.
If Framber Valdez would’ve won at least one game Rangers fate to the WS would’ve been dull.
rangers didn't have the use of trash cans and still won
Dusty, classy gentlemen! I’m proud that a Texas team is going to the WS.
Baker and Maldonado both need to retire, or be shown the door. And they can take Verlander and Dana Brown with them.
That’s a man standing up and admitting the better team won. Not this “we beat ourselves” crap because that takes away from the Rangers’ dominance. Astros tried their hardest and it wasn’t enough. Rangers are the better team, point blank period.

It was a season-long fight between these two teams, from Day One all the way to now, like two heavyweights in the ring duking it out. It went all the way to 5 seconds left in Round 10, but the Rangers came out on top. Props to Dusty for saying, "We didn't lose this. They won it."
Yordan Alvarez is the scariest man on earth. I so wish he was a ranger. Astros need to do everything to make sure he remains in houston forever. What a thrilling series!!
11-4 dusty dam past your bedtime 😮😂
Dusty said it very well. This is a tough game to win it all. Both teams had a 90-72 record during the regular season. If Houston wins 1 more they go to the series, if Dallas loses one more they don't! Wow! Every team seems to be getting better. As Dusty says, Dallas, Seattle, Baltimore, Minnesota, Arizona have all stepped it up a notch and perhaps Houston lost a step or two this year. Dusty said the season is a grind, and unfortunately it often comes down to a game of attrition. Those teams that stay healthy, somehow, seem to do better. When a team wins it all, they become the target of pilfering. Players heads swell a bit and teams start looking to pull away the top free agents. Look at Carrea and Springer for the Astros. There is so much parity in baseball it is difficult to dominate, and that makes the Astros run over the past 7 years even more impressive. Now if we can just figure out what the heck is going on with the home field curse of Minute Maid! My Gosh! Congrats to the Rangers! Bring it home to Texas and let's keep the FRIENDLY rivalry going. In the end it is a game and these two teams have risen to the top. Go get em Rangers! I would like to see a Rangers/Diamondbacks matchup but I have a feeling Philly is going to pull it out today. Got to love the game of baseball!
Fire Dusty, he killed game 6 bringing Montero instead of stanek in a close game... Let montero fill tha bases and then bring stanek wtf...
And in game 7 lets list the mistakes:
1. When Javier is out the didn't bring urquidy immediately (like he was saving pitchers)
2.He let Maldonado bat at slme keys at bats instead of Diaz
3. He puts Uncle Mike again evethough he hasn't been hitting hits lately... And dont open with Dubon...
4. with the game 4-2 he brings JP France, having Abreu, Stanek, still havung urquidy.... He allows him with 2 runs to stay in the game and then pitches Garcia with the first base open...
5. They bat a fair ball to first base which wa sthe third out the homebase umpire reverses the call and you didn't ask for a review.. NOT EVEN GO OUT ABD PROTEST
There he blew out two games.... And he still says that the game os though... NO DUDE you have a winnable team, you did the incredible, win 3 in a row in Texas, and then give up game 6 like you are thinking in game 7 and then play game 7 like you are thinking in game 8.... Meanwhile the other manager was making moves like each out depend on his life....
Just retire, you had a decent career, with slme very bas decisions throughout it...
bring back aj hinch! thank you dusty

Those were a couple of monster innings. Which are out of his control. You don’t just throw in Verlander after they’ve seen him pitch as much as they have.
The pitching let us down for sure
rangers didn't have the use of trash cans and still won
The Astros have a blueprint since the 2017 their World Series win, Dusty wouldn't have even won one World Series if that blueprint wasn't in place already. Dusty saying Texas and Seattle made great moves, they know the Astros blueprint.
That blueprint was stealing signs all season.
Makes zero sense
Beats the hell out of you! What you going to do. classic
There's a blueprint to win the World Series, Braves lost Morton and Fried wasn't 100%. Brewers Woodruff hurt, Rays no Mclanahan, Rasmussen these things happen their blueprint isn't going to change injuries killed these teams. Baker and Dave Roberts underachieve every year. Baker inherited the Astros blueprint and that's why he won his World Series.
Well he won it. Buck stops with him. The Astros are an All Star lineup with semi-good pitching. This team didn’t deserve better.
I can't listen to all of this. Dusty had a chance to go out on top, but shockingly came back this season. Astros were pathetic at home, while performing as well as last year's championship team on the road. 40-47 at home (a horrendous dropoff from last year) is not chance or coincidence--there was a serious problem that Dusty (as the person closest to the players) couldn't figure out ALL SEASON LONG. Thanks to Dusty for his 4 seasons here--time to move on.
Maybe they ran out of trash cans.
The season was so bad for us because of the managing of Dusty.
He should have made Diaz the starting catcher, end of discussion.
We lost a good 14-15 games because of Maldonado easily.
He also should've stopped playing Pena a long time ago, Pena hadn't hit a home run since July.
Dubon was clearly way better, Dubon should've been the starting SS in the playoffs.
The fact he didn't let Julks or Chas start every game at CF is insane.
Look at what happened the game dusty gets ejected.
They pinch hit Maldy and Pena with Diaz and Singleton and we fucking won lol.
Baker wouldn't have done that.
Maybe this is me being naive, but why does everyone seem to be so hard on Dusty?
By Dusty, take Maldy with you.
They cheated to win one series
What a dude. Dusty’s just a guy you want to listen to.
Reporter: "Why did you keep pitching to Garcia?"
Dusty: "Why did they keep pitching to Yordan?"
Fire him. Immediately. Absolutely idiotic statement. Garcia was killing all game to that point, and first base was open to set up a force at every base. Couldnt believe they didnt walk him. He also left France in too long.
I honestly dont think Javier pitched poorly at all. The Rangers executed a good gameplan and hit the high fastballs. Not catching that popup in center in the first inning was killer too.
I'll never understand why this team cant win at home.
He actually made a solid point there.

Oh, and the TRASH CAN was not there. Hard to describe how much the Asstros are hated by MLB fans. Sorry, it's a fact (why do you think the remaining cheaters are booed at EVERY away game, especially Altuve). If anyone DID NOT need to cheat, it was the 2017 team, and yet they did. Most have moved on to teams that don't care. But none will make Cooperstown. It is shameful that the 2017 team got to keep the Division / AL / WS / WSMVP titles. Hurts, doesn't it LA? Since the Commissioner let Crane and his stooges get off with a slap on the wrist, why not do the right thing with Pete Rose? At least he bet on his team to win.
As Wash would say "that's the way baseball go"! Great series! I honestly don't think that any of the HBP were intentional...Chapman has been wild as hell.
Bochy brought in Montgomery we brought in Hunter and JP (2 rookies), bad decision. You got 3 out of Javy Maton and Hunter and was down 4-2. Neris, Abreu JV and Pressly coulda given you the last 6. Managing game 7 like it's a regular season game. Not pinch hitting for Maldy earlier in the game with runners on. These are bad decisions especially in the playoffs. Theres no guarantees that we would come back this game, I get it, but these were bad decisions and we could have kept the game close and gave the bats a chance. France looked awful from the first batter and fell behind every hitter. There was no reason for him to be in the game when you have all hands on deck. The most important thing when trying to make a come back is keeping the game close to put pressure back on their pitching. When we let the game get blown open 8-2, it's very deflating. So stop saying a lot of things went wrong when you lose 11--4. Yes a lot went wrong but a lot of that was when the game was blown open and could have been avoided and contained if we made better decisions earlier in the game. Everything this season was more difficult than it needed to be. Appreciate Dusty taking us past the cheating scandal years and last year's World Series. It's time for new direction.
Need a true CF (preferably Bellinger), Pena needs to fix his swing and Yainer needs to catch, and we need to trade some players with LMJ and Garcia coming back. Dubon, Chas, Jake, Urquidy should be on the trade block, maybe even JP France and Bielak (make a play for Luis Robert)
exactly. it went wrong because of his dumb decisions. he never takes responsibility for anything and blames it on bad luck or bad juju. He brought Montero out in game 6 which is basically waving the white flag sure enough 4-2 becomes 9-2. Because he wanted to have Pressly fresh for Game 7 and never even got to use him. He's a clown that is now 0-3 in game 7.
Not much you can do with the pitching. Javier gave you nothing. JV is 40, you can't trust him to come in and do what montgomery did. You have 2 starting pitchers in the pen to fill in at moments like this, but they couldn't pull it off. There are certainly many decisions to criticize (why was maldy hitting at all this game, why not bring in dubon for a struggling pena?) but pretending like you could have magically found a way to not give up a boatload of runs with how badly everyone was pitching is not realistic. At the end of the day the players have to show up and they didn't, save for 'tuve, breggy and yordan.
Astros simply have bad pitching. Other than Verlander, Valdez and a couple of iffy guys. As much of buzz saw that lineup is, you don’t have much of a pitching staff. Rangers are simply a more complete team.
@@bn2870 the Ranger's approach this game was different. They went in with a game plan and adjustments and executed. Dusty manages like it's the regular season. That's why Bochy has 3 rings and Dusty had to ride the 2022 Astros' coat tails to a Championship.

The Astros haven’t lost a Pennant since 2020. Think about that. The last time they lost the ALCS was to the Rays. It’s been 3 years since their last Pennant loss. I knew 2023 was going to result in #4.
Sorry you lost ..prolly should have used trash cans
😂😂😂 that is hilarious comment! Good one 💯
Baker got baked really nice today!! lol.
it's Chapman...he doesn't even know where it's going when the ball leaves his hand right?
Dusty, you're still #1, and always will be!
Sometimes, "That's the way baseball go."
Dusty is to left sided he gave up the series game 6 by bringing in Montero in the wrong situation.
They walked Jordan! They should have walked Garcia.
Its to bad, but Dusty Baker is one of a dying breed in all of sports... TOTAL CLASS ACT!
didn't have the use of trash cans and still won
Astros: We will play the 2024 postseason in Arlington.
They cheated as much as they could and they still couldn’t beat the Rangers

I knew it was over when they were interviewing Reggie Jackson before the game and all they wanted to talk about was making the Astros a more diverse organization.
