      @aarontoalet 11 місяців тому

      @@skinnie2838 That was definitely not the reason why he retired. It's presumptuous to assume the Rangers are going to dominate the Astros for the next 5-7 years. The Astros are the only team that has been consistent at winning in the MLB over the last 7 years. The Astros won the regular season series against the Rangers for the last 6 consecutive full seasons.

    He’s one of the only few managers to wear a uniform top when he is managing instead of a t shirt that makes you look like you don’t belong on the team. How can anyone take you seriously when you don’t wear a complete uniform.

    • @bengaltiger96
      @bengaltiger96 11 місяців тому +1

      I'm torn on this one. I think of Lasorda in a uniform and I'm like "no way he's going out there to bat, field, or pitch - why is he in uniform?" I agree that the t-shirt or hoodie look is a little slack, but maybe they can be more like a Landry or Hank Stram, with the full suit. Or maybe even just a sport coat and those new casual-formal shoes. In any case, Baker has been a class act.

    • @briagadaress
      @briagadaress 11 місяців тому

      Very true. Bu the way, nobody talks about that. I fully respect people like Baker, Lasorda, Cox, Torre or other managers that fully dressed up. Sad that they have gone.

    Love you so much! You were the healing balm and the steady hand the players AND we fans needed. You were the best coach the Astros ever had in my lifetime. We are so blessed you came to Houston. I’m happy your WS win and WS and ALCS appearances and achievements were with the Astros and were due to your leadership both on and off the field.
    You are humble, you are down to earth, and you’re a winner! And most important of all you’re the Real Thing. Gonna miss you 💔

    Admittedly, I’m a bias Baker fan, but hearing these men say they will miss him is a little irritating. If they’re going to miss him so much, why not keep him in Houston? There’s no way that leaving is Dusty’s idea when he still wants to stay in baseball. What am I missing?

    When I was a child, I played little league Baseball for the Boys and girls club in Atlanta. I was 7, and in 1962, I remembered Two pro ball players came to visit us. First time was hank, that's what I knew him as then. The next time was a few months later, another man came with Hank, I knew as Mr. Baker. Just wondering If Dusty baker was that other man. Could you find out for me. That would make my day, know he was part of my love for Bassball.

    Dusty, sincere congratulations on your retirement. You have made huge contributions to the sport of baseball. You will be in the Hall of Fame in the very near future. There is nothing more that you need to accomplish in this sport. Your family has already lost a lot of quality time with you. God knows that you do not need the money. Do the right thing and now give your family the time that they deserve. Money is not everything. You do not want to get to a point in your life when you regret not having made your family the centerpiece of your life.

    When I was just a kid I had a few 8X10 glossy photos of a few MLB players on a cork board in my room. Dusty Baker was one of those guys you had to respect as a player. Brooks Robinson and Billy Williams were also up on that board. When Dusty won a World Series as a Manager with Houston, after all those other teams he managed had gotten so close but not gotten the ring, I don't recall ever being more happy for a Manager. He is one of the best all-time.
