  • A naturalist is someone who studies the natural world. This can include studying plants, animals, and ecosystems. A naturalist might also study the weather and climate. Naturalists use their observations to understand how the natural world works. Becoming a naturalist can help you see the world in a new way. It can also help you appreciate the beauty of nature. And, it can give you a greater understanding of the environment and our place in it.

In a society driven by advances in technology, being a naturalist is a somewhat uncommon dream. Most people never think about studying nature in the same way you might study business or art or entertainment. But a naturalist is someone who does study those patterns in nature.
What does a naturalist actually do? When we think of “naturalist” our first thought will often turn to Charles Darwin's voyages on The Beagle. Latterly, we may think of Steve and Terri Irwin or Sir David Attenborough. Naturalism is one of the oldest sciences but remains relevant today. It differs from biology and biological sciences in that it is far less concerned with genetics and more concerned with relationships. Today, their relationship is far closer to environmental biology. Essentially, it is the study of the natural world as a whole and the study of each species within its environment(s), as well as how species interact with each other. They will look for evolutionary markers to explain why a certain attribute may have been beneficial or what environmental conditions may have led to the rise of genetic diversity within a species.
Naturalists seek to observe the interconnected relationships between plants, birds, trees & ecology so we can understand the past, present & future of our local and global environments. It’s not something you can truly master just by sitting inside and reading a book. Being a naturalist requires you to use all parts of your brain in a holistic way, which can have significant effects on your worldview, self-awareness & overall success in life.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a career in the great outdoors? Do you love learning about animals and plants? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then a career as a naturalist might be for you! Naturalists are professionals who study the natural world. They work in a variety of settings, from national parks to zoos, and their job duties can vary greatly. However, all naturalists have one common goal: to help people learn about and appreciate the natural world.
Natural history is the study of plants, animals, and other organisms in their natural environment. It encompasses all aspects of the organism's life, from its ecology to its evolutionary history. Natural history is a broad field that includes many subdisciplines, such as botany, zoology, entomology, paleontology, and more. People have been studying natural history for centuries. Early naturalists were often amateur scientists who observed and cataloged plant and animal specimens for their own enjoyment. Today, natural history is still a vital field of study, providing important insights into the world around us.
As a naturalist, you will have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the natural world around you. By studying and observing nature, you will develop a greater appreciation for the beauty and intricacies of the world we live in.

Thank you so much! It really does help more than most would imagine. No joke, this video has made $17 on UA-cam. If just 4 people sign up on Patreon, we’ll have made more money there than this video made on UA-cam. We love making these docs but the algorithm won’t even recommend the videos to all subscribers. So far, this video that took weeks to complete, only received 80k impressions… it’s not going to stop us but it also makes it very challenging to make as many videos as we actually want to. Patreon is one of the many ways we’re trying to fuel the fire and make the dream come true.
