Jimin is simply a genius.
When he says "I won't stop even if they mock me", you can see the dancers pointing at him, judging him, referring to how people perceive him and the narratives they constantly impose or project on him and him basically saying no matter what you say, I'll keep shining.

He is ready to fly. The butterfly lyric mirrored in this effortlessly smooth and sexy move and the fact that he is flanked by two female dancers here just accentuates his appeal.
He is lifted up by the throng and here people have noted the parallels to Lie and it is calming to think that Set Me Free Pt 2 resolves and brings closure to the emotions that inspired that song.
In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free.
I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness. I wanted to express that kind of picture everyone has in their head - a ray of light coming into the darkness is the only thing you can see. If I had to say specific colors, I’d say black and white."

In fact, the nevermind tattoo was inspired by their song “Intro: Nevermind” and the moon tattoos were inspired by an ARMY’s painting/drawing that Jimin saw (via V sharing it with him).

The moon tattoo on his neck is real. He started with one, then V shared a fans artwork with moons going down his back. Jimin liked it and had it done. Fans have pictures where you can see glimpses of it and asked him in his Vlives to show it to us. He said not then, but maybe later. Hoping💜💜💜

He also has the NEVERMIND on his chest as you saw, the letter 13 on one of his wrists, "young" and "forever" on the back of each of his elbows and "Youth" in cursive behind his ear. Like I mentioned in my last comment months ago, I doubt you remember, my vision is almost gone, but my love for fashion is not. So you describing the difference in the colors, with the green of the dancers outfits and the solid black of Jimin's outfits, something I couldn't make out in the video, or the fact that there was a black outfit change, those details just made the video more vivid in my mind's eye.
The song itself is incredible, but your reaction just made it just that much more amazing. Thank you again.

I do remember! Yeah the dancers started in that dark, dull toned green and then when the light changes, and Jimin is in the second black outfit (shirtless haha), the dancers outfits look more grey so I'm thinking it comes down to the lighting. It makes me so happy that I can share those details with you to make the video more vivid!

I grew up with opera, musical theatre, jazz… so Jimin being the Broadway, Tony Award winner is his vibe…bravo Jimin. Love this mv. (If V does jazz, opera in his solo…that would be awesome. That he is able express his other musical talents/style.) my take, so don’t hate…The floor looks like the moon., and it’s rotating. The ceiling looks like the microscope, because his life is essentially under a microscope. The squares represent people, especially, haters trying to pigeon hole him. Auto tune represents new him, who is able to speak up, be honest-truth telling-able to say I survived-succeeded in spite of all you efforts to destroy me, so f-off. Loud music that makes him barely heard: haters trying to suppress and silence him. When you hear his voice with the chorus backing him, it’s his sweet, thoughtful self, telling haters let go of their unreasonable, unfair, unfounded hate, set him free of it…telling self to be free of it. The dancers are the haters bearing down on him, the dancers are victims of hate like Jimin, the dancers are army, who will share Jimin’s struggles and pain & help work it out-carry him thru it& break free. Black outfit-negativity, anger, bitter, sad, oppressiveness, etc…white-user himself free of the baggage, be the butterfly. Is FACE autobiographical? Can’t wait for the the rest of album.

I was shooketh. Moon tattoos are real! Jimin told the story that Taehyung had shown him fan art that an Army had done of him with phases of the moons down his back and he decided to get it done for real. We've seen them peaking out a few times over the past couple months but he said he would show them in full when the time comes. I'm guessing he teased them at the end of this mv and we'll see it in full in the lead single release "Like Crazy" next week!!

And yes! the moons on his back are actually his real tattoos. Fun fact, Taehyung sent him a fanart with the moon phases and that's what inspired him to get them done. Aparently he was gonna do just one but that fanart changed the game and he got 5 moon phases down his back. The "NEVERMIND" across his ribs is also real, from one of Yoongi's songs. He also has the little 7 in his index finger that you can see it in the video. "Youth" behind his ear. "Forever" and "Young" above his elbows. And a 13 on the inside of his wrist. I think i'm not forgetting any...XD

I admit I was worried about watching this release. And it's true - Jimin killed me. I'm dead. I also wonder if the ending is also a reminder he's still basically the same light guy but wants to explore darker things artisitically.

Speaking of fashion, you said can't imagine anyone mocking him but there are so many haters, you have no idea. Matter of fact I ran across a video someone made already about the MV. I co-bias Jimin and Jin, so the visuals are killing me!! 😮😱⚰ Going insane to stay sane seems to be a callback to the same lyrics from ON. As others have mentioned a bunch of his tattoos are real, including: the ambigram behind his ear (it reads as either youth or growth), the 7 on his finger, young forever above his elbows, nevermind across his ribs, and the waning moon tattoos down his back from the fanart (by Arizzo Studios) that Tae sent Jimin. Jimin did promise ARMY a couple of times during his livestreams that we'll get to see the full back tat, so this MV doesn't count!! 😆 I'm loving the fact that this MV was all filmed in the one space, and it has some interesting themes. The golden ratio of the spiral, the space looks like it could be symbolizing a panopticon, and of course the German text from the Austrian poet. Arrgghhhh the choreo vid just came out!!
