You can change the oil cooler thermostats for cooler models, the rad and fans can be upgraded, and those oil cooler lines you mentioned can be replaced with some nice stainless kits to avoid a massive oil leak all of a sudden (they rot out all the time).

You're gonna really want to install a coolant temp sensor and gauge too. Normal temps should be around 200 F, if it gets up to 210 or more you can start damaging the engine. Oh, and the aftermarket thermostat is a great idea too.

Check which recalls are applicable to your rx8. I know they had one for control arms rusting and for the fuel pump

Sensor kit as in? Usually the kit provides you with everything that you would need to get it in. Provides ya with a wiring harness too! -Edgar
