This was very useful. In that the better gym, spa and tennis courts are reserved for adults, I don’t think it would work all that well for us as we have very active fit teens. Thanks! Saved us from some disappointments 🙏

As a full time video producer I set out to create something different, something fresh, informative & with beautiful visuals. I’ll be honest about my experience, but ultimately my hope is to provide detailed information to help take the “guesswork” out of my a decision about where to go. 2023 has been a full year with local productions & a daughter getting married, so we’re hoping to get out and film 4-6 resorts in 2024!
Do they play music by the pool? I found the Hyatt Ziva to be a great resort as well just a little to "chill" or quiet by the pool with low or no music most of the time. Great review!!!
Thank you for your comment, we truly appreciate it. To answer your question, Yes there is music around the pools. It’s not too noticeable that it becomes a distraction. Some days there’s also live music or DJ from the platform above the swim up bar at the main pool
Thank you for mentioning passports at the beginning of this review. After watching so many resort reviews and almost booking this one for 2 weeks from now I realized my boys don’t have passports!!! 😂🤦♀️
Yeah, thank you. It's harder for those of us with larger families. So many resorts realistically only work if you have 1 or 2 kids, and maybe a handful if you have 3. The room options at this Dreams work perfectly for those of us with 4, 5 or 6 kids. We've stayed in both the Villa and Family Suite. We like both options for different reasons.
We were there when filming , I think. Wishing we could’ve seen this first. When we booked, we had visions of the nightmare of hotel zone spring break but were pleasantly surprised at all of the services and short -selled our vacation time and daughter’s wedding because although pricey, the hotel delivered. Wished we had stayed longer! It was so nice and I think this video showed a few. Realistic flaws as well as the pleasure. The staff were really good. Little tips go a long way $1, 2, 5. The staff was always fun ! Doing homework on weather, etc pays off. We had 22 people and a bunch of kids, they had a great time there March 14 2023
That is really great to hear. I would say Spring break time in general is a good time to AVOID any resort! Right now it is March and so many schools are out for Spring break and I hear that it is pretty wild at the resort right now. I would never travel during a time when I know it's going to be full of wild spring breakers! We Love this Dreams resort in particular and feel it is the best Dreams in the resort family because of all that it affords!
They are extremely accommodating. When you check in at each restaurant the second question they ask after your room number is whether there are any allergies or restrictions!

How would you compare Grand Villas Mayan Riviera versus this Dreams Resort trying to decide the best option to take our family three kids 9 6 and nine months old
Grand Villas has one of the most “Grand” resort entrances off the highway & is a beautiful resort, but for families there’s no comparison to Dreams Playa Mujeres. Dreams is larger, more spread out, has a waterpark, water slides, lazy river & several pools to try out. For a family with kids Dreams is far better between these 2. Another to consider would be The Grand at Moon Palace. They’re hosting us at the end of September to film a production at the resort. The downside for the Grand is accommodations for families with more than 2 kids! Dreams wins this area all day long. Dreams 2 bed rooms include queen size beds with a pullout couch. The Grand has full beds instead of queens (weird decision if you ask me).
We had planned to book ajoining rooms at grand vellas. When I spoke to the chat on the dreams website they did not have any rooms for 5 available so we were going to have to do a junior suite with ocean view with king bed and 1 with 2 beds. I believe she said they would be joining rooms but I'm not sure. Thanks for your reply.

Depending on your dates, a junior suite with 2 queen beds can be booked with 5 people (2 adults & 3 kids) at Dreams. I think Dreams is a way better option than Grand Villas, I know Dreams is pricey, but it's worth it. Probably the most popular family resort along with The Grand at Moon Palace. If you're not working with a travel agent I would suggest it. They can help you get the best rates option possible. (I'm not a travel agent). I highly recommend the folks at Enchanted Travel, they are super nice to work with and I have recently partnered with them for my resort travels. This video along with your dress code and tipping guides are great! Thank you! We have people in our party with mobility restrictions. Do you have any information about how accessible the rooms and resort amenities are? We reserved accessible rooms but curious to know how easy it is to get around (ie. ramps, elevators, beach/pool access, etc). Your video quality is amazing! An extra chapter highlighting these accommodations on future videos would be a huge help to encourage families or older travelers to travel more with confidence. Thank you again!
There aren’t many areas that I would consider difficult to reach. There are plenty of elevators to get everywhere & around the pools it’s sloping concrete paths going from the main building all the way to the front infinity pool. There’s a boardwalk that stretches out to the beach too.
It totally depends on so many different factors. One day it can be crystal clear & absolutely gorgeous & the next there can be seaweed everywhere. Other days it can be really sparse.

If you've got deep pockets, Xcaret would be fantastic or possibly The Grand at Moon Palace. Neither of these resorts are known for their beaches though, so if you're a beach person they wouldn't be a good fit.
No lobster. I know of only a handful of resorts that offer lobster included, some offer lobster as a paid meal upgrade. Dreams resort don't offer either.

On this last trip we took our sons fiancé (they're now married) and our daughters soon to be fiancé (they're getting married September '23). They absolutely loved this place so much and can't wait to go back some day.
