I own a blu-ray and dvd collection as well. Many people call me "grandpa" and to sell it cause everything is on streaming services. But you don't see as many "behind the scenes" or "making of" sections on streaming services like you would a blu ray. Plus what happens if I cancel the service? I'll see it again. So as a movie lover I'll never get rid of my blu ray collection.
Yes! Having physical media is awesome. I love the special features and I love knowing I can access them whenever I want. If you’re a “grandpa” then you’re a cool grandpa. I think it’s funny when ppl call ppl old fashioned whenever they don’t understand or know anything about the thing they’re making fun of.
Audio commentaries are my favourite I'm not you don't get that on streaming? Sometimes I'll only watch certain movies only with the audio commentary, like the Paul Anderson Resident Evil
For me, it's like books. Yes, it's more convenient to have on Kindle and the like, but there's nothing like a PHYSICAL book that you can hold, highlight, and mark up! I love that!
I very much agree! Don’t get me wrong, I love the convenience of Kindle and have a bunch of books on there, but there’s nothing like the physical copy of a good book. Plus it doesn’t hurt my eyes or put a light in my face when I’m reading at night.
Nice! That’s a big collection. My collection is pretty small but I love it. I’ve got some more stored away at my parents place. Gonna have to get those.
There are many many people who are obsessed with having a physical movie collection. I am one with over 6200 movies. I am delighted to report that Director Christopher Nolan is very big into preserving the concept of people being able to buy physical media movies. We need to keep this concept going because there’s nothing like picking up a box putting the movie in and watching a movie anytime I want without interference.
There’s so many great films that I want a physical copy of because they aren’t always available on streaming or they are only available to rent or buy digitally or when the internet is down I can just pop in one of my physical copies of my favorite films. I also hate it when it’s only available on a streaming platform that I don’t want to pay for. It’s much better investment to own a physical copy
Also, lately the streaming sites/studios edit out certain parts now for "modern audiences" or other weird reasons. I don't want that. I want to see the original film how it was intended to be seen. Physical media is more important than ever now@@ScottyDunn
also when you own the physical copy of the movie you are not at the whim of streaming services and also when they only show the censored version of the movie on that said streaming service
i started collecting physical media in videogames the thought of not owning it haunts me also i started collecting movies i get told im wiaistimg my money honestly i just wanna own my shit i know i can just stream it but ownership is not there
I will never give up my collection either. I don't worry about 8k tech either. A lot of movies do not benefit from 8k, in my opinion. Even movies in the mid 2000s. 8k is 10 or more years away for me. No need to give your old physical media. Im still trying to buy certain blu rays before they go out of print.
Batman 89 VHS Kick started My Physical Media Collection. Yeah I can tell Ben apart from Tom, I learned a lot from BTS of films, when ever it Said Behind The Scenes I tuned it to see how they made the Models, and Prosthetics and Appliances, That was the cool part of the film. Even The HBO intro of 84 has a BTS that you can watch on .
Definitely! I have the Blow, Rush Hour 2, and Austin Powers 3 infinifilm editions. All I remember about those were that they were just like special features on other DVDs. Would love if anyone could correct me or tell me what was different about those other than the branding.

Do you fine enjoyment in the special features? Yeah I’m a fan of the artwork in physical media as well. Sometimes it can be a hassle to cart them from new location to new location. I’ve personally never felt the urge to throw them away though.

Eveveyone kept telling me to sell or throw away my collection because it takes up so much space, but im glad i kept it!
Glad you kept it!
Well if you invest in some nice shelves you'll have a nice library to browse through so they don't know what they're talking about

Absolutely! It shouldn’t die because it’s special and it’s a joyous ritual that we should preserve. Wow over 6,200 movies. That’s truly awesome.
@@ScottyDunn Would enjoy corresponding with you about movies if you are interested.
Yeah that would be great!
@@ScottyDunn is there an email address?
@@beck645 Yes. go to my channel and look at the channel details section. It'll give you a prompt to get my email address.

Plus, you get all these cozy special features and commentaries. And it's not gonna be pulled from your disk like it's pulled from streaming sites.
Gina and@@ScottyDunn yessss! There are several movies I can't find anywhere and it drives me nuts!!

Exactly! Or when you find the time to watch one, they take it off the streaming site that you're subscribed to. It's so annoying @@justlaura7177
Same here. I'll never give it up.
Good! Definitely worth holding on to.

In 2024 i am on mission to buy physical media and bought the movie from local dvd shop and helll yeah loved
also when you own the physical copy of the movie you are not at the whim of streaming services and also when they only show the censored version of the movie on that said streaming service
Exactly. Don’t get me started on the censoring.
The thumbnail was small on the notification, but I'm pretty sure you're holding the Back to the Future trilogy on DVD.
Yep 😎
hello Scott

i am of the same thinking
my collection means a lot to me
i appreciate cherish & treasure it
Nice! Yes hold on to those treasures.

Owning your own stuff is a smart thing to do. You should be in control of when you want to watch it, not the studios or platforms.

@@Anonymous-wb3nzWhat was the point of your comment? It’s basically a boiled down version of his.
As a minimalist I hate physical media so much wasted space and money
I can see how that would bug a minimalist.
