No matter what path you choose, there are prices to be paid. No one embraces the Zen/Tao/Hippy/Creative path as completely as Surfers (People Who Ride Waves). First Lesson: Money Is NOT Wealth. Second Lesson: Experiences are more valuable that Possessions/Things. Third Lesson: By the time you arrive at your goal, it's never what you imagined or expected.
Always put your finances in good care to ensure that your income rises. Wealthy people achieve there financial goals and acquire riches by seeking help from finance pro(s) but many claim to have achieved success themselves.
“The greater the passive income you can build, the FREER you will become.” I feel fortunate to have made productive decisions that have had a lasting impact on my life. Through my finance coach, I've accumulated over a million and recently purchased my first house in January. I've also managed to pay off my mortgage and student loans, and now I'm focused on working towards my retirement by next year.
I operate a wide range of investments and have achieved massive growth in my finances with the help of my financial professional, making my financial goal a reality.
My mum always said "Don't be afraid to change your mind" It's always okay to change your job and the way you live your life, but don't be afraid to change something that isn't working for you ☺️
Something that really stuck with me was Jim Carey saying “you can fail at what you don’t like”. And that will forever be something I keep in mind and move forward with
Thanks for sharing, Ali. At this point in my life, I am feeling uncertain and it's scary but If my dreams and goal don't scare me then is it worth it. I am stepping into faith and continuing to embrace uncertainty rather than sitting in my comfort.
Why are you doing it. It's because u feel like doing it or because u feel everyone else is living their dream but you are here on You Tube looking for answers. What's your Why?
I’ve decided I’m quitting my job and pursuing something I’ve been called to do. I’m not sure of it but what I’m sure of is I’m not happy where I’m at, so here’s to finding happiness 😊
i legitimately powered through each point where i would typically fast forward because of the pacing bar on the bottom of each segment. love it! ty for supporting our short attention spans, it was easy to engage
i took the pathless path, multiple trainings and lateral drifts, at the time i graduated from highschool, then at 35 i took a detour onto the default path for 10 years, i dont regret it, it helped me pay off a mortgage, but i left it for an even more pathless route at age 45, now at age 55, its all finally starting to gel. i wish i could have learned my lessons much much earlier, but in the end, ive lived my life as i wanted, and im looking forward to the exploration of the next and last 20 of my productive years and making a plan for the more restricted final decade.
Actually, the default path is an ILLUSION of certainty. I think people now more than ever are realizing these companies don't value their workers and often fire them on the whim.
I love this video. Thanks so much for the fresh insights. I became unemployed recently and have went from feeling down to waking up excited about all the things I can do now with my spare time.
I'm pathless. Languages -> philosophy -> acting -> UA-cam -> next is probably going to be writing lol. Nobody understands me. I don't understand myself either, I was just born this way.
Fear setting questions for you to copy and paste: 1. Define your nightmare the absolute worst that could happen if you did when you were considering. 2. What steps can you take to repair the damage or get things back on the upswing even if temporarily? 3. What are the outcomes or benefits both temporary and permanent of more probable scenarios? 4. If you were fired from your job today, what would you do to get things under financial control? 5. What are you putting off out of fear? 6. What is it costing you--- financially, emotionally, and physically --- to postpone action? 7. What are you waiting for?
I like this. First video I've seen in awhile where I don't feel as if I'm watching an ad. I like new Ali. Keep it up. You aren't talking 1000mph, either. Majority of your videos I cannot watch without popping my anxiety med.
Im in school, doing science stream and have no clue what to become, i guess i should do what the book says. Embrace uncertainty and aproach it with curiosity and wonder
In short, love this video- going to get the book; but I feel these ideals are for the young amd that stings! What about people my age, mid 50’s, kids are grown, now what? Just be stuck in the 9-5 grind until retirement, for what? I want something else, now, while I can! I digress- lol I’m excited to read the book and perhaps more like it!
You can start doing little things that start transforming your life into something you’re more passionate if you feel restrained by your commitments. I’m 28, and don’t technically have responsibilities but I can’t afford to just quit my job. So I started just doing my passions in my free time instead of just dreaming about it. Starting small helps for me
On the Mortgage + Family + Bills train which means I’m settling for the golden handcuffs and certainty trap. If online things like UA-cam prove to be more successful I’d jump but for now, embracing the trap 😂😅
Hello, Ali, I found your channel when I was looking for videos on mastering my MacBook Air (yes I know It's completely out of date ha ha ha ha ha) and was amazed by you which I am sure you used to and since you have never recommended anything bad or not worth checking into so I am currently waiting for this book to come to me and I will read and then will refer back to this video when I am done hopefully my next comment will be more insightful
Really enjoyed this one! Was wondering if you and Justin Sung have ever crossed paths? Both your channels and career change path have some really interesting similarities.

Agree Don
Nothing is ready made.
Every person's path is unique. I think honesty and courage can lead you to the right place
This is truth right here.
Well we'd like to find that ourselves
I totally agree with the third lesson which is why right now I'm just enjoying the process and the journey.

This is what i needed the most now. I quit my traditional job but lost the way and confused. thank you for sharing this Ali ❤
You got this🌷
Keep going.. keep exploring the curiosities. And pay attention to what you enjoy doing.
The South Korean market ain't so good, I hope you have money saved up

This made me realise why I always let things get down to the wire and leave the future wide open: I hate certainty.
Nothing is certain and security is an illusion. Cultivate curiosity and wonder-- love it!
The weird thing is, the uncertainty that exists on the pathless paths, still exists on the default path.
wow. yes, THIS IS YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO LIVE IT!!!! I JUST QUIT MY JOB AND I FEEL SO FREE AND RIGHT WHERE I NEED TO BE.
Just listening the book in audible and your podcast with the author. Great to see this summary!
Thank you!
No matter what we take, we will feel uncertain now and then. The only way to deal with insecure feelings is to find purpose in what we do.
FINALLY, after he talked insanelly well about this book, i couldn't be more anxious to this video
I call both paths, linear and non linear paths respectively. ✍ 💪
Goal I'm working towards in 5 year: To get on the Ali Abdaal Podcast. How it will happen? Leaving it in the hands of embracing Wonder & Curiosity.
Thank you Ali for the recommendation. I started to read this book in the beginning of my spring semester of my senior college year this year.
I like this. First video I've seen in awhile where I don't feel as if I'm watching an ad. I like new Ali. Keep it up. You aren't talking 1000mph, either. Majority of your videos I cannot watch without popping my anxiety med.
me who didnt watch harry potter thought that , that was the story until i heard the word company
I love this book! It's my most gifted book right now. Also, loved the Harry Potter references haha.
Just finished reading this book and I got the idea to read it from your 2022 read list
I just procrastinated and Check my mobile what do, and suddenly UA-cam notified like 'Get your daily dose of Dopamine and the go work' from Ali❤
Pathless path: call center, sales agent, OnlyFans, UA-camr, online seller, networker
call center falls under default path
🤣
He dropped OF 😂
I was always told, "Why walk in someone else's shadow, when there's so much sunshine out there."
" don't call it uncertainty, call it freedom "
That's it! I'm abandoning all my commitments, obligations, and responsibilities to follow the pathless path.
My wife and kids be damned!
I’ve watched this video just in case, now I’m rewatching it just in time
This video is eye-opening! I really need to watch it at least once more! 😅
Thank you for posting, Ali! ❤

The Harry Potter start = literal perfection
Pathless path only sounds fun on paper but it isn't the best choice when you have loved ones to takecare of.
Actually one of my favourite videos of yours! Fantastic review of what seems like an incredible book 📖🙌
The book is totally worth it! Read it few months ago and absolutely loved it:)
thank you!
Exactly what I needed to hear at this point in my life! Thank you very much :D
Sounds like you'd like the book 4000 weeks: Time management for Mortals
Love your videos Ali! Especially book club!! Watching from Malawi!! 🇲🇼... keep up the good work!
Funny thing is that Hermione would definetly choose the default path 😅
And Harry likely the pathless path hidden beneath his default path :)
Hermione has time turner
If you arent married yet or dont have children yet, just take the " pathless" way.
Goodluck!
I love hearing people talk about the freedom to just quit your job and travel the world as if it's a privilege freely available to everyone
The content in this video really resonated with me and made me subscribe.
This video is amazing Ali , soo many people need to read that book
Appreciate it!
