Quitting my job was the hardest thing I've done. In this video, I talk about how I justified the decision to myself. Enjoy Xx

Seeing a lot of comments asking why I didn’t stay for 2 more months. It was a SIGN-ON bonus (different to a regular annual bonus). The contract had a clause stating that if I left within 12 months of receiving this bonus, I would need to repay it...that's why I talk about staying for another year in the video!

I looked out of the window at the new car that came with the job, and thought about the jump in pay. But I knew what I had to do. I turned down the job and left the company. This reminds me of an excerpt from Will's memoir:
“The thing I’ve learned over the years about advice is that no one can accurately predict the future, but we all think we can. So advice at its best is one person’s limited perspective of the infinite possibilities before you. People’s advice is based on their fears, their experiences, their prejudices, and at the end of the day, their advice is just that: it’s theirs, not yours. When people give you advice, they’re basing it on what they would do, what they can perceive, on what they think you can do. But the bottom line is, while yes, it is true that we are all subject to a series of universal laws, patterns, ties, and currents, - all of which are somewhat predictable - you are the first time you’ve happened. YOU and NOW are a unique occurrence, of which you are the most reliable measure of all possibilities.”
Thank you for sharing @Nischa 🎉

I've taken on far more work than i have now, and i couldnt understand why im like this now. But as weeks go by, im beginning to see it. I can't find the love for what im doing. I am proud of you Nischa. 👍👍 It takes a lot of courage on what you did. I left my high paying job in the IT industry back in 2006 without a backup. My general manager and manager failed to do what was right vs making themselves feel they were right. I went back to my desk and wrote my resignation letter with two weeks notice. The president of the grand corporation flew from Singapore for an emergency meeting on why I resigned. I extended my 2 weeks notice to 6 months because no one could comprehend what I knew and do for the company, even my manager who is a distant relative (reason for the extension). I resigned based on principles. Without good and proper fundamental principles, we have nothing. Fast forward to 2023, I have my own IT business, trading and invest the financial markets, have side hustles, and continue to have more freedom with the security of not working for someone. The best part of all this, the time I was without work, I was able to diagnose Mommy on her GI issues (Crohn’s Disease) within 6 months, treated her, and now she is in full remission to this day. As I always say..... things happen for a reason. I am all smiles for you Nischa! ❤

This video was so inspiring to me. I totally can relate after 20yrs of service with my previous employer I was laid off from work last week, 11/08. Honestly, the last year I felt nothing was aligned with me at work and I gave myself one more year to continue working while I prepare myself for my next career move. However, my employer came early for me by laying me off and 3 colleagues in our department. This is so encouraging and inspiring and now I have a different mindset on my next career path. I’m going after my WHY and choosing a path where I can be in control of my time and be financially independent while providing value and helping others along my journey. Thank and appreciate you for sharing your story!!

@@PhonkEchoit depends what area in finance and banking you work in. A lot of these “prestigious” finance roles are often all encompassing where you’re always working/thinking about work, potentially even working 80 - 100 hour weeks (eg M&A) where the spare time just goes to recovery/trying to meet friends and family that there’s no time left. Something I’ve learned during my professional career goes into the same direction Obama mentioned. Never judge a decision that has been made retrospectively. Too many factors could come into play that are unknown. Only judge the decision making process and question if all factors have been taken into consideration at that point in time. And refreshing to see someone following his value compass. Don’t underestimate how many people are in the same situation and realised the same about their employer. The credo is to run with the system for a certain time until you don’t have to anymore.

Well done for saying NO and taking control of your life. Lot's of people talk about being unhappy but never do anything about it. About 6 years ago, I quit my day job without having a concrete plan. I was that guy that didn't have any savings to fall back on, but I knew I had to take the risk because if I had stayed, I'd slip further into depression, become even more negative, further damage my relationship with my girlfriend (now wife) and our beautiful son would not have been born - sounds extreme, but it's the truth. Leaving gave me the sense of worth I needed. I had no major responsibilities at the time so it was a great opportunity to reevaluate life, study up and create something for myself. Honestly, it was the best decision of my life.

It's a gutsy but correct move for you. Really glad to see the sub count up to 760K already. You will get to million count any day. Live your life on your own terms.

I'm at the same place you were earlier this year. I found a passion that I want to pursue. It's my side hustle that I really want to do full time because it makes me feel alive and aligned and my day job is the exact opposite. It's been super hard to make the decision to leave my 6 figure job because of the fear and uncertainty of whether or not my side hustle will work out. But I'm going to do it anyway because like you said I will regret it if I don't give this a shot. I make very little from my side hustle but I can manage with my savings and I have my husband to support me a well, there will be some sacrifices that will need to be made given I won't have a salary anymore. But I think this is worth taking that risk. Thank you for sharing your story. It makes me feel like I'm not alone and I also feel confident that I'm doing the right thing. I can't NOT pursue this because I'm obsessed about it and want to work on it every single day. ❤
