They shove this shit on me in all years of highschool. They make out ancient civilization as an egalitarian anarcho society until the advent of agriculture, wherein capitialistic transactions and individualism emerged, ruining this "magical" equality that existed in this lush, green, sunshiny earth. Glad I found this video

😱 imagine the horror of Europeans conquering another group to annex their land just like groups of all races have been doing throughout history. Including native tribes one over another.

Pushing this myth teaches people that a utopian society is possible, and, therefore, something thing we can achieve again… if we learn to live in harmony and share resources - Communism.

The audio is mixed absurdly low. Even maxed out, it's barely audible on a computer.

Guns, Germs, and Steel is the biggest source about the exchange of diseases and how colonies actually worked. The rest is just stuff picked up over the course of a History degree and google searches on the topic.

You can try War Before Civilization and Constant Battles:Myth of The Noble Savage(an archaeological study).
I remember reading history books from 40+ years ago that did discuss warfare, cannibalism and human sacrifice among primitive(stone age) people but much of that has been written out by left leaning modern history revisionists.

@@Doug_M I'm guessing most historians understand that history is biased and has always been biased throughout time. If you look up "Rewriting the Narrative of U.S. History" there's an article that goes over this. Saying that it's the left doing this is placing the power in the situation with one political side. If people who are right wing reject being involved in history as a field, then I guess history will slowly shift left on its own. Otherwise by what realistic mechanism is that happening?

Well, to be fair, Avatar is a sci-fi fantasy in the same token that Star Wars is a sci-fi fantasy. It can do whatever it wants with its subject matter. Star Wars features Nazis in space alongside white knights going head to head with black knights in sword fights. Its mythical fun alongside future warfare. Avatar features humans transporting their souls into the bodies of giant blue aliens that link up with animals through antennae. Just as Star Wars romanticizes WW2 and swashbuckling swordplay to the extreme, Avatar romanticizes tribal cultures and their relationship with the environment to the extreme. Its cowboys and... to the extreme
