@TchHry The natives had rules of war. Some Native American groups practiced ritualistic cannibalism before Columbus, often tied to religious or cultural beliefs. The Aztecs consumed flesh from human sacrifices as part of honoring their gods, while evidence from the Ancestral Puebloans suggests cannibalism linked to rituals or famine. The Caribs in the Caribbean were accused of eating enemies, though these claims might have been exaggerated by Europeans to justify colonization. Cannibalism was rare and not widespread, with survival or symbolic reasons behind it. European accounts often distorted these practices to depict Native Americans as "savages" and legitimize their conquest.

Cuz even the most ignorant fools could understand what native Americans would like thanksgiving or Columbus Day for that matter. And if I were black, I would probably be against it also. Far right white Christian nationalist want you to believe that anyone who doesn't like your American thanksgiving must be evil, awful people. It's still no different than when they came over here. Spreading Christianity at the tip of the sword cuz thru knew as well as now that they can't just depend on the merits of Christianity to attract new converts. Back then it was convert or die. Now, Christian nationalist are using right wing politics and going against our constitution and ignore the first amendment to put their beliefs into laws. And it's already started. For me, thanksgiving goes far beyond the food. And I love the food. It’s feasting on the old stories that I’ve heard my grandmother tell many times before. Reflecting on all the good things that happened over the past year and what I’ve learned from the hard things. Remembering the humorous and bonding stories between siblings. It’s making the food with my loved ones and sharing it around a table filled with love, that’s my favorite part. To the world, thanksgiving means stuffing your face and falling asleep on the couch with your pants undone. But to most of us thanksgiving is so much more.

I think there is a misinterpretation of the Thanksgiving Story. It was a rare moment of peace and friendship between the English settlers and Natives, granted a peace that wouldn't last a generation. Also, the Native Americans were fighting with each other and sought to add the English as allies for their own benefit.
If you come across someone who claims that the Native Americans were peaceful until the Europeans arrive, show them the clip from Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, where Colonel Nelson Miles and Sitting Bull are meeting and discussing how the Sioux came out of the Minnesota Woodlands and took land from the Cheyenne and other tribes.

As if the settlers really were more of the victims than Native Americans ever were besides this doesn’t just evolve around dangerous savage tries, go after anyone but a fair share of those who I’ve done them no wrong and so on.
But the stupidest thing of all among them in the 21st-century is a great deal of Native Americans involved in politics these days are affiliated with the Democratic Party, which was the party mostly responsible for a great deal of Native American genocide specially since Andrew Jackson, one of the founders of the Democratic Party was responsible for the trail of tears when he signed into law, the Indian removal act of 1820 which forced a great deal of Native American tribes to leave their homelands in the south.

The pilgrims came here for religious freedom, not to steal land from the tribes. When they landed on November 11, 1620, it was close to winter, and they would have starved if the Patuxent tribe had not stored food. The village was empty because all the Patuxent had died of disease. Squanto had been kidnapped but eventually returned to his village, where he encountered the pilgrims. Because he lived in England, he knew English, and was treated well by them, that is why he showed benevolence to the pilgrims. It was in 1621 when they had the first Thanksgiving, the pilgrims being grateful to the Indians that they were still alive, after losing 46 of the 102 people who set out to sail to America.
Most people don't know that Englishmen came over to New England to live so they could fish, then smoke or salt it and trade when the English ships returned in the spring. Samoset was an Abenaki who also knew English because of the settlers, and he traveled along the coast of Maine down to Massachusetts, trading as he went. American Indians and settlers got along well for quite a while. The reason that the Europeans were able to colonize America was because the native tribes did not band together to fight them off. It would be a different story if they had organized and fought the early settlers who came to these shores.
